eBook Idea - Nightclub Bouncer Buck$

Hello Fellow Warriors,

I have a friend who worked as a bouncer at a bunch of popular nightclubs and strip clubs over the years and he wrote an eBook about it. It's called "Nightclub Bouncer Buck$" and it's about how to get a job at busy and popular nightclub and how to make maximum money there and it's wildly entertaining in terms of the 'sex, drugs, and rock n' roll' way of life. So it's not just about making money it is actually a very entertaining read. There was an article out a few years ago saying the IRS was investigating Las Vegas bouncers at the Pure nightclub as they where pulling in $8,000 to $10,000 a night which was $400,000 to $500,000 a year and all cash (the title of the article was "Vegas Bouncers Make More Than President". He's obviously not made this kind of money but it is an article that kind of 'romanticizes' the world of nightclub bouncers.

Over the years of being friends with this individual I've seen the money he's made and the women he gets to meet as well as the then semi-famous bands (now some of these bands are mega famous) he's met and gotten autographs from (he sells the autographs on ebay and will even get drum sticks / backstage passes / other items from the band and get those autographed and I've seen him sell them for $100 each and he'll get 3-5 of them at a time saying that they are for his sister and her friends lol)

The issue I have is I told him I don't know if it's worth marketing as it's such a micro niche. Is it too micro? How many people want to become a bouncer? He says he has young guys come up to him all the time asking him how. Who am I to argue with that. Would others purchase the book just to get the ins and outs of the life of a nightclub bouncer? In other words would others purchase it like they would purchase a fiction book - in terms of entertainment value alone and not be looking to make money becoming a nightclub bouncer?

It's a dangerous job and he's been injured many times quite badly and it's all in the book - the good the bad and the ugly. It's a long book too as it's about 100 pages or so.

Just wondering if any of you out there have had such a micro niche eBook or maybe I'm not giving it the credit it deserves and am over thinking it. He also said he could market different self defense products in the book via affiliate links. So he has all these ideas and he's motivated and passionate but I'm wondering if it's something that those who are not bouncers would be interested in as being a bouncer is very transient and most are just bouncing while they are going to school or working towards another career. In other words it's like waiting tables for women it's hardly a final career destination.

I wonder how it would do on Kindle. The price is $29.97 with an affiliate program that would pay 50%. Who knows it could sell 20 copies a day maybe more - or it could sell none. It's from a nightclub bouncer here in North America so I think that would be a big difference as there are a couple of eBooks on being a bouncer from bouncers in the UK which I've also read and they aren't nearly as entertaining. Some of the stuff that goes on in the nightclubs is outrageous. Very interesting read to say the least.

Your input would be appreciated by us both as I've been holding off on this project as he knows nothing about internet marketing but is a very talented writer. He's willing to give me 50/50 split commission so it's going to be worth my while financially.

Thanks J

There are plenty of people who want to become bouncers, so it's NOT a micro-niche at all.

If the ebook is going to be about how to actually get the license and become a certified bouncer, then your information will have to be relevant to one particular country, or you'll need several ebooks for each different country, because the licensing laws and requirements will vary.

Having said that, some states in the US may have different requirements as well, so it's something to think about.

Also have a look at this > SECURITY GUARD TRAINING HEADQUARTERS - Your Center for Security Guard Training

Thanks zdebx. I checked out those links. The link with the security guard training really isn't related to nightclub bouncing security work. It's completely different. The second link (blog) of Pat Flynn I'm a little unsure as to why you posted this what are you referring too?

My idea of what defines a micro niche my be off a little then I think. Can you give me an example of what you would categorize as a micro niche?

As far as the legalities of attaining a security license he has included both the USA and Canada and it's really very easy in other countries as you just need to contact your local government agency and ask them for their security licensing program. It's generally the same as a security guard although the job is vastly different.

So you seriously don't think that it's a micro niche and that many of people want to become a nightclub bouncer?

      I value your input! J

I spent many years as a taxi driver (among other things) and that's also a very transient lifestyle, with lots of entertaining aspects as well as the dangers.

I know of a few books written by drivers and they have been quite successful. Like bouncers, taxi drivers, bartenders and hairdressers, you really do get to see a different side of life.

I would think that he would have luck with his book if it's well-written, proofread and checked for errors, etc. (No, I am not trying to get work from this post).

He has nothing to lose and a lot to gain, so I say go for it!

Thanks laurencewins. I guess people do pay to "walk on the wild side" that is what television and movies are based on to a large part. So your right there may be two markets one those that want to become a bouncer who earns a good income not just any bouncer or at least they'll have that option as all the info is provided but some just want to work as a bouncer and don't care about all the money opportunities they just like the bravado and being around all the beautiful women. Then those that want to just read about that lifestyle and enjoy the read more from a fiction (entertainment) stand point.

We certainly appreciate your words of encouragement and lets face it I've see some cab drivers turned bouncer a few times believe me and I'm sure you know what I'm talking about lol. It's that underbelly of life most don't get a chance to see or at least not see in as much volume and consistency.

I did the math and selling 20 a day ($10 each profit as it is sold for $29.97 with a 50% affiliate program through ClickBank)

Get listed on some key nightclub websites and who knows where it could go. Even at 20 a day x $10 = $200 a day x 30 days a month = $6,000 a month. That's 'only' 7,300 sales a year.

When you consider Jacob Hiller who created JumpManual and sold it through ClickBank with a 75% affiliate program he sold 69.000 copies since 2008 totaling $2,500,000 in sales. It's an eBook and Video on how to increase your vertical for slamming the basketball. It's an incredible product from what I've researched. I have no connection to it I'm just using it as an example as that is really micro niche.

Client Success Story: Jacob Hiller | ClickBank

In other words the number of people that would purchase his product to increase their vertical - or the size of that niche - is likely just as large as those wanting to earn good money as a nightclub bouncer. Maybe it's a little bigger but not by much.

Not getting ahead of myself as I know it could be 0 sales a day but may as well think bigger.

Critique my thoughts by all means.

      Thanks.

It is very inexpensive to try Kindle...but honestly at that price point it would be really tough to sell IMO.

Thanks LilBlackDress. Please elaborate. So a book of this 'type' would sell for $19.97? $9.97? Is it even worth it then?

I guess $29.97 is kind of expensive in the eBook world now-a-days. I see a lot of eBooks in the $14.97 range and lower even.

Share your opinion on this. Much appreciation!
