Hi Guys,

I am guessing its not the first time this question will be asked-
but I would be happy to hear your thoughts on what do you think are the 3 critical things in starting a successful Affiliate program?

I know that good offers is a great place to start (;
but what other tips you think are critical and normally being ignored ?

Thanks for your help!!

A good offer, targeting people who are interested in the relevant niche of your offer and captivating their interest. Why does your offer stand out ahead of all the others in the same niche? You need to look at things like that and you should be able to make some sales.

      Thanks Van Dam!

I'm still thinking about how to exactly to present the niche, because we have performance offers from a few verticals and not just one. so maybe we should be more focused...?

Any insights about the best way to manage the relationships with the affiliates? what do you think is the most comfortable method /tool?

Preselling is critical. A good offer can always be improved with preselling or tailoring for your audience. Ultimately though, it's not always about trying to sell. Communicating with people and offering value, a free tip, some advice or encouragement can make them more inclined to purchase from you in the future.

    Good luck

The 3 critical things in starting a successful affiliate marketing business:

    1. Making a strong commitment to never giving up no matter how many setbacks and challenges you face.

2.Finding a mentor who is doing well and has a lot of successful students. (learning from them)

    3. Working with residual type affiliate programs and affiliate programs that pay out high commissions in the $500-$3,000 range.

In other words, don't have the brains to know when something is never going to work for you and decide to move on to something you are better suited to.
2.Finding a mentor who is doing well and has a lot of successful students. (learning from them)
You're chances of finding anyone to help you with reaching your goals, without paying large sums of money, are miniscule. Additionally, even paying will not guarantee you one iota of success. That's the truth.
      3. Working with residual type affiliate programs and affiliate programs that pay out high commissions in the $500-$3,000 range.
Right. You will have better luck selling cars or real estate to make those amounts in affiliate sales.

I hate slamming your post, but they are of absolutely no help to anyone starting out. This is symbolic of what is taking place on this forum.

You can always use the 'ignore' button to not see my posts. That goes for everyone.

      Agreed. : )

Overcoming setback, failure, and adversity is all part of the process of becoming successful. (IMO.) And, that's one of the reasons that makes this pursuit so rewarding. (You will evolve and grow as a Human Being.)

If you were to ask a room full of Millionaire Entrepreneurs the majority of them will tell you that they didn't succeed the first time around. That's why it's important to take a "Never give up" attitude.

Or, you will wind up in the gutter, destitute. It happens.

Yes. I'm sure that the last time you were in a room full of the aforementioned, that is exactly what they told you.

Perhaps a few might say, "I tried a few things when I started out and after pounding my head against the wall and not achieving any success whatsoever, I decided to make a giant shift in my life and started out on a new path. One that I was more suited for and lo and behold, I found what I was meant to do with my life. I'm so thankful that I was able to admit defeat in what I was bad at and pursue something I am good at.

That's what a mature, intelligent person does.

Of course, you could recite claptrap as you wait your turn in the soup line. Your call. lol

Something I forgot to mention is that my advice/post is only relevant for a certain percentage of people. Like Frank mentioned, some people would be better off taking a different path in life.

Hi talfighel. I agree with 1 and 2 and must say 3 stopped me in my tracks.

Ive heard this before about it takes the same effort per sale so may as well promote the higher paying programs.

Can you provide more knowledge of number 3 please?

      Thanks.

A good thing to start with would be to find your niche, this will ensure your product/service will be noticed.

Another step that is necessary to do is to find your partners - this would mean searching the Internet and looking for websites that would possibly join your program. Make sure they are somehow related to your sphere.

Promotional material. You should create a compelling and engaging material for both reasons - to make your affiliates happy about what they are placing in their websites and to attract those, who are looking forward to buy something from you.

Also, even though you think that your list of affiliates is big enough already - do not ever stop looking for someone who can promote you. Do it continuosly. This will only increase the chance to be observed.

    Thanks Guys!
I think our 2 major advantages are:
    1. We work with direct advertisers so the payouts on our offers will be high .
    2. We run some of the offers ourselves so we know what kind of traffic is most likely to succeed and know if the offers has potential ...

I agree that the next step is to try and find the most suitable partners in the right places ...

I have one more question if I may (:

What is the most common mistake Affiliate Programs do?

    Thanks!

They make no effort to provide helpful marketing materials to their affiliates. They just leave them on their own without any thought that the affiliates might sell more if they had some help.

    1. Show affiliates that you have a solid sales funnel structure in place.
    2. Prove that it's converting.
    3. Provide the right support and tools they'll need that will help them.

You need to take a really good care of your affiliates. Make it easy for them to promote you. If you have everything set and done, exceptional service and information accompanied with a great offer combined with some nice affiliate commission, then you will have more affiliates that you can think of.

Do that and your reputation will talk for you and spread the word.

    My Thoughts

    1. Look for Longevity

A high ticket item may give you a large commission payout straight up, but if it's a one-time sale, then that's all you'll be getting. Instead seek out products that serve the customer on a long term basis. I'm talking about rebills.

These are recurring commissions that will go to your account every month for as long as that customer continues making payments.

Now this is true passive income.

You can make one sale, then months and even years down the line, you can still be profiting from that initial sale. Without having to do anything.

    2. Has good backend product

Everybody loves a good backend. 😉 But no one really understands the value of a backend better than a smart affiliate.

Before you commit yourself to promoting a certain product, first go through the vendor's sales funnel.

You want to get the most out of a product. And by doing this you need to know exactly what the sales funnel is. Check for upsells and pricing. Look at the sales pages and value of the one-time offers.

Ask the vendor directly or check out the provided affiliates page. The top vendors will let all their affiliates know exactly what the product is about and whether or not there are any upsells.

    3. Has good affiliate tools to promote.
Any vendor worth their salt will provide an affiliates tools page. To make your life easier, promote products where vendors offer such support. As it is, there's a ton of work that needs to be done in order to set up your campaign and reach potential customers.

So take advantage of the affiliates tools pages by using the professionally designed banner ads, keyword target lists, free reports to give away, email swipes and more.

This will make your work flow more efficient and it'll be so much easier to do your pre-selling before sending your reader to the landing page.

I think what makes a great affiliate program is the real care the ones behind it put into it!

Take the time to build high converting landing pages. And also the best marketing resources you can create for the affiliates.

Create high converting banners (in all sizes), email swipes, landing and squeeze pages, pre-written social media updates, re-usable videos on the products/services, url-tracking features, etc.

Think about the affiliates as much as possible. The more you help the affiliate, the more money they will be able to make you ... right!!

Every time I search for a new affiliate program to work with - these are the things I tend to look for and the ones who provide the best resources are the ones I always love to work with!

And, last but not least, take the time to over-deliver in your products/services. Always keep improving here. You want to get good numbers when it comes to selling online. You would want low refund percentages, high positive reviews percentages, high conversion numbers, low negative reviews percentage, etc ... and things like that.

And the best way to get awesome numbers, would be through the quality of the products/services! .. that will help the affiliate a lot!

Just my 2cents on the topic!

    I hope this helps!

    Keep up the great work!

second to Clarie. I am not really sure you are looking for affiliates or you want to be one.

    Either way... imho..
#1 Offer - How well it converts
#2 Traffic - Quality of the traffic
    #3 Payout rate and speed?

  • The product or offer is the last thing to look at!

    1) identifies your niche;

    2) identify the target to which your product solves a big problem;

    3) build your list;

    4) educates your email marketing list.

If you have a good product but do not know to communicate with your list, you do not sell it to anyone!
