Building adsense sites!? What is the deal with this and is it worth getting into?

I built a small adsense site as I wanted to test things myself. I made a 7 pages site with Dreamweaver, got some keywords, wrote 6 articles and left it there for about 2 months. Result after 2 months: 45$. It's funny because these days it's making a few dollars, as the first month or so it was making less than a dollar. I'm just not sure for how long it will make money though.

Would I rinse and repeat 100 times? No because it would take really a lot of work, as I'm not very fast at making websites.

Usually you can make a blog or static website, both work well, I guess you should go for what you prefer.

So you can make a bunch of small sites, but you probably would need to outsource a lot, or make a big one with hundred of pages. Both ways work, both of them will take lot's of time and effort. You could probably PM Tim Gorman, as I believe he would be the pro here concerning the small adsense sites.

Hi Jason,

Have you considered including AdSense with what you're
already doing? Adding it to your affiliate offer websites.
There are WordPress blog templates designed especially
for AdSense and some other affiliate programs, you just
upload to your hosting and insert your aff codes, add
content, publish and promote. You can Google for the
templates, some of them may be free.

Thanks for your post. But could you give details, a step by step. How you did it.

or is this how its done.

1. You made a 7 page site
2. you added 6 articles
3. You added adsense ads (beside the articles or single page dedicated solely for the ads?)
4. You just left it. (did you promote it before leaving it?)

I'm a newbie and hardwork is initially what I can invest. So information will be nice.

Adsense sites can be a good way to make some nice cash, but you need to make sure that you set them up properly. You also shouldn't expect to have one site making you $1000 per day from Adsense. It's more realistic to have on site make you $x-$xx per day.

With that said, Adsense sites can be fairly easy to setup once you get a little used to it. If you have good, keyword targeted content on each page, and your ad positioning is in the best spot(test and track for this), you can make a nice chunk of change from Adsense.

Considering that a typical Adsense site takes only a couple of hours to setup, and if created properly can make you $x-$xx per day, just rinse and repeat. Once you find what's working on one Adsense, just repeat it on your others. Imagine if you had an Adsense site that was consistently making you $5 per day from Adsense(this is very achievable). If you followed the same setup and created 50 more sites, you'd be making $250/day.

It's a numbers game for Adsense websites. But these results are not uncommon. All you need is a good niche, targeted keywords, and traffic. Then test,track, rinse, and repeat.

Make sure when building these sites you have
original content and target high paying keywords.

The hardest part is traffic, for me the best converting
have been Google search traffic.

Use spyfu to find High Paying keywords.

Ok here is what I did step by step:
1. I looked in Spyfu for keywords that pay more than 1$, as if you go for something that pays less, well you will not make much per click. I chose my niche that way.
2. I looked for a bunch of keywords in Wordtracker that have a lot of searches and little competition.
3. I set up the site with 7 pages, each page covering a keyword that has more competition than the keywords I use for articles with EZA. Of course these keywords need to have good searches per day.
4. I put my adsense blocks right away. I put a big block of adsense between the title and the article. I also put some adsense ads over the navigation bar, which is on the right, and beneath, so they blend with the navigation bar.
5. I wrote 6 articles, put them on EZA and didn't touch the site after.

Now my CTR is pretty low, below 10%, but these days it's going up. I read that putting an adsense block between the title and the article is the best position, the other two I don't know if they bring lot's of clicks. I'm not sure how to track that.

I haven't touched the site in a long time, it's still getting clicks and money, so in 2 months I average 0,75$ per day. If my CTR was around 20%, I would have made a lot more, but I guess it's the lack of experience that makes my CTR not so high, or maybe the niche, I don't know.

Those who make a killing in Adsense usually run 1 or 2 big sites that
produce heavy traffic.

Look at Hubpages, or Digg.

I have heard that the owner of PlentyOfFish.com makes close to
$1 Million per month with them. Not bad ha?

The key to making Adsense work is to create a site that can grow
by itself and become huge free traffic magnet.

  Making one big site is also the best way with adsense I believe. Sure you could make 50 sites making 1$ per day, but what if you put that time into building one monster site that will dominate a good niche. You will make a lot more money that way, plus you will add some other sources of income too, such as affiliate links, you can sell your own products, there are many things you can do. While with a small adsense site you are more limited.

I call these sites adsense sites, but they're just content sites. I started out creating 3 of them about March 07. I have a lot of systems in place for promoting these sites and it costs me about $120/month to promote each of them (building links). I outsourced the articles for all of them and the only real work I do is adding content to them when I get it. For success in adsense, it's way easier to create a handful of moderately successful sites than to create 100 that will make $1. Just research the niche, make sure there is demand, make sure there are a lot of advertisers paying for the traffic (remove all shopping sites as well, look for "Tires R Us" and not "shopzilla.com/tires"), and then check the keyword value. Then just build an SEO friendly site and do the basic promotion.

For awhile, I put off doing these contnet sites because I have too much going on. But recently I just put together a small team that focuses on one thing that needs to get done. Like keyword research, article writing, content writing, etc. It's pretty much on automatic pilot at this point.

My question is how much did it cost to have all this outsourced? And how much content are we looking at for each site?

Hi, adsense sites and stuff and you was wanting to know what they are building. Is it just a blog with some posts or a site that has long tailed keywords targeted with a few articles or posts with adsense? It's really not worth getting into!

Nothing is easy anymore. You have to work hard, even if it is "only" Adsense.

Adsense requires not only tons of content but also some promotion skills.

I have to agree with some of the posters here. I have over 50 adsense sites now. I bought around 30 of them from people who had given up on making money with adsense. There are so many things that can break you in this effort. I have a great site with tons of content and front page listings that brings in $0.35/day and another really crappy (did I say crap?) site that brings in $5/day when Google feels like listing it on the first page. Be prepared for a lot of trial and error, mostly error.
