I want to promote my site and everything, but there is a problem. I am not the greatest article writer. I suck at creating content.

I know I need to build backlinks, I know I need to forum comment/etc, and everything else.

I just don't feel right making some bogus comment and hoping and praying some blog will allow me to post a link. I'm stuck, and with new rules of google changing every 2 weeks I don't know what information is current and worth reading anymore.

Any advice? I'm almost afraid to buy fiverr gigs promising backlinks because who knows if that will help either.

First off, I admire your honesty ... and courage. Coming on a forum like this and saying your lazy is like swinging a red flag in front of an angry bull to some people. You might want to wear a helmet for protection just in case.

So, I won't give you the usual cliches' about the penalties or the hidden shame of being lazy. There's plenty more people here who can do that easily. Plus, you've probably heard most of them anyway. Right?

So, I'll take a different approach from most, which is what I'm known for.

If you know you're lazy. Use it to your advantage.

I'm generally a hard working person for the most part, but I am lazy when it comes to some areas (shhh, keep that under your hat). So, I've explored many ways to use my laziness to my advantage.

In fact, I remember reading a book with a similar title. But here's 3 articles that explore the same areas. They helped me. The only thing? ... I hope you're not too lazy to read and apply them .

I'm not saying the advice is the "end - all - be all" for everyone. But just something to consider that may work for you - instead of beating yourself into the ground with guilt.
    - Good luck.

Generally, people in your situation outsource the work that they don't want to do. Or, they simply find a way to streamline things. That is, in fact, how some of the biggest companies became so profitable.

So aside from buckling down and doing your own stuff, your only choice is to employ someone or something else to do it for you. :\

If you are lazy, you must have enough cash to pay someone to do the work for you. upwork and elance are good sites in which you can find someone to hire.

  • Maybe you could create simple videos, they work very well in many niches. Sooner or later you will find something you enjoy doing which makes the "work" much easier.

You can be as lazy as you want to be, if you're paying somebody else to do all the work for you. The simple fact of the matter is that running a good website/blog is a business and the only way it is ever going to pay off for you, is if you are consistent in adding new articles and driving traffic to your offers. It can also take some time but best of luck

First off,I wouldn't buy any backlinks -- especially not from Fiverr. I just don't trust stuff like that. Plus, you need to learn how to do stuff yourself before you ever consider outsourcing it. Secondly, you don't have to be a great article writer -- just a decent one. This aint English class. Once you get into the habit of doing this stuff, it's not so bad. I'm a good writer but don't actually like doing it - LOL! I'm so bad that I take breaks after I write a paragraph - no lie! I eventually get it done, though.

I know where you're coming from. I'm at the age where I just don't want to work that hard anymore either.

The suggestions of streamlining and outsourcing are your best bets.

First of all, forget about Google. Just keep it real and don't spam. That will take some stress off of you.

Next, forget about trying to "build" backlinks. Let it happen naturally as you share content.

As for creating content, since you really don't like to write, don't do it every day. That's the cool thing about WordPress. You can take one day out of the week and write three to five blog posts on that one day and schedule them to publish later in the week.

For example, write three to five blog posts on Saturday and set them up in WP to publish Mon - Fri.

On Sunday, find good imagery for those blog posts and do short videos for them.

There, basic content creation is done.

Then during the week, as each blog post is published, share it on a handful of social media sites. As you share your content, you're creating backlinks at the same time - naturally.

And then set aside an hour each day to pop into a couple of forums and respond to some posts. Don't make them bogus comments. Be real about it.

Once you have a few blog posts shared, add your link to the signature files in the forums you go to.

Just take it a day at a time and eventually you'll get the hang of it, that is, if you're in a niche that you enjoy working in!

  • Why you don't you just outsource everything. Nobody want's to work. That's what money is for. Business comes with risk. You either do your due diligence or you don;t do anything at all. Stop limiting yourself.

If you're genuinely lazy - as other warriors have pointed out, you can outsource everything.

However, this will of course cost money.

If you build a blog, with decent, regular content, and record some screen capture videos too, you will get traffic.

Set up a Twitter account, a Facebook Fanpage and a YouTube account.

For each post you do, send a tweet, post an update on FB, and get some links from your own videos coming back to your blog.

Then come on to this forum, just as you have, and get involved, posting and replying, making sure that you have a signature pointing to your blog.

You may be lazy - but you do have the desire to succeed, or you wouldn't be asking the question! :-)

So, build it up, get some income from affiliate commissions, then outsource little by little.

    Hope that helps.

    All the best

    Trevor

You are taking the risk of not taking any risk at all. Trust me. 2 year ago, I was same like you. I was too afraid to start a website. I though there are lots of competition. I will fail. I was too afraid to write theat book. I thought there is already book on that topic. But I eventually did and in starting it sucked. I got negative reviews. I got criticized. I thought I made the mistake.

I didn't make a sale. My website was at only 3 view per day. I left everything. But after twoonths of boring life, I got a mail that someone purchased your book and that was the best thing ever happened. I was so motivated that I sent a thank you email to the customer.

But Things got more worse. She said, "My book sucked and it has lots of grammatical errors". Because English is not my language. I felt broke. I left my blog again. But then after few days, I got another sale. Then I made up my mind that I will revised my book and fix everything. I did it and i started working on my blog and Now I am having 650 view everyday on my blog. I know its not enough. But I have more motivation now. I have more goals more fun and more life to live.

So stop wasting your time and risk everything. You have nothing to lose. The money will not grow by itself. Invest it and trust me, you will not regret it.

If you don't want to take massive action and don't feel like you are going to see any results from your efforts, I would go with paid ads.

    Don't forget:

No one is lazy. They are NOT inspired to take action.

Being lazy can be an advantage to a point (re: outsourcing etc.) but if you're too lazy then you're not going to achieve anything as, no matter what you do, you'll not take enough action to succeed.

You just need to focus on the right things. It boils down to how much of your time your want to invests or how much of your money you want to/can invest.

You've gotta take some action, right. Maybe it's down to finding the right motivation.

    To solve your problem: Outsource.

But use your laziness to your advantage, find easier ways to do things, not short cuts, more efficient way.. You do not need to be a brilliant writer, just start writing.

eventually if you find that it is too much work, then probably, it is best for you not to try making money online then..

    Good luck!

outsourcing seems to be the best way to go for lazy people.
But with that said, the question is to find the best people to do it for you, and with the million possibilities and options you have (fivver, elance, odesk...), its just difficult to find the best ones. I mean not tooo expensive and wih a good work done.

    thats first point.

you can also find partners that are willing to share different task, while you do what you like or good at.
Its not that easy to find really good partners, in which you can have confidence, but still if you can match up with 1 or 2 other people that can be a good gain of time, and good time to share.
with skype you can connect with someone in vegas or toronto.
you can use linkedin also to make a kind of portfolio, post what you are looking for, some marketers might be interersted investing some time with you. you can send also a post on craiglist asking what you are looking for.
One can be the designer, the other the writter and the last can do seo for exemple.

and you can share and enjoy the income.

Great success cant be achieve alone, so dont be affraid asking for some help, plenty people would be glad to help you.out there, if you are willing to give something, and that can be some of your time, some of your talents, some of your ideas, whatever good you can give in return.

    take care.

Though you do not like Fiverr gigs, I think you can hire a freelancer from any freelancing site. Here I would like to suggest you, you should see the freelancer previous work history & feedback. If you think the freelancer feedback is okay, then you can hire him. All freelancer is not expert. So you have to hire the expert only. Thanks.

Another thing you may consider judging from your comments of how you suck at writing and you suck at creating content. My God so why are you doing it? Life is too short. Dirty little secret, there's scores of people who make a good living online who hate writing and blogging, even suck at it.

I know, I know everyone told you the best way to make money online is to start a blog, right? But that's not everything or even necessary in all cases? To quote a former girlfriend, "If it don't fit ... don't force it".

Internet Marketing covers a vast array of things (and growing) that you can do besides blogging or even writing. So, how did people make money online before blogging became popular?

They sold things on Amazon, Ebay. They sold other physical products. They sold books, tapes and other information products, affiliate products. They sold services, etc.

You may not be lazy, but just uninterested in what you're doing. I'll admit that's when I'm the laziest too. In fact, most people could probably say that.

So, you don't necessarily have to quit Internet Marketing as a whole. Just find another area to focus on that actually interest you.

But as Big Frank and Discrat illuded to, if you can't, there's still other offline ways to make money or (gulp) get a job. No shame in that. Just make some money somewhere.

You're supposed to suck in the beginning. You should be focusing on taking action daily which will lead to improvement in your writing skills and your ability to take action.

It's not supposed to feel right. You're going out of your comfort zone which is the right thing to do. If you truly feel like you're doing something wrong, you should probably find a mentor. Someone who is doing what you're doing but actually getting great results from their efforts.

What I like to do is outsource as much of the work as possible, and then juggle all the outsourced work like a supervisor.

Wow thank you everyone I really appreciate the comments. I've been selling a physical product (LED Lighting for sportbikes) And I get about 12 sales a year. I work full time (45-50hrs) doing construction and I am really just looking for a way to push further and make extra money.

I've tried facebook ads ($500 there and not very successful) Bing ads (not working well/hard to track) and also adwords which was too expensive. ($2-3 per click/yikes) I get about $25 profit per sale so adwords was out of the picture.

I felt like maybe using that towards articles would have been better, but there is one problem. Who could i possibly hire to write about LED Lights? No one knows a ton about them so I feel like I would get a low quality article and not informative.

The market isn't huge so many rules that apply to digital products do not apply to my business, making it difficult to learn. I have been stuck at 10/20 visitors a day for the past 2 years, I cannot seem to grow!

You don't need these things. There are plenty of people online who do no free marketing, and their business is strictly propelled by online paid advertising. Don't get overwhelmed by the hoopla of different strategies. Get out there and start testing things, and start testing with paid advertising. It's fast, and it will let you know whether or not you should stay in a particular niche.
