How many of your are thinking about developing and marketing a new APP. What are your struggles? I'm thinking about developing an APP right now but considering all of the problems I'm facing trying to do it. First and foremost I am not a coder/developer, and I need to find one who won't rip off my ideas.

What do you guys think?

Most of app owners are not app developers

If you have solid idea for app ,you can hire app developer and sign NDA with him.

Every app on appstore have hundred clones but presentation and working logic always wins.

So don't worry about theft ,hire developer and make your app.

Most? Do you have a source that supports that?

Here's the thing with apps; at this point, they're no longer the land of mystery riches and high-tech geniuses. The app development world is very open, and barriers to entry are low.

          That means:

          1) There are a bagillion* new apps being developed and uploaded every day.
          2) There are a bagillion* competitors who want the same revenue you do.
          3) For every Flappy Birds guy there are a bagillion* people who never make a cent.

          But...

Because app development is so mainstream, it isn't the wild west anymore, and if you truly feel like your idea is original and awesome enough to become a bigtime earner, then there are plenty of lawyers with experience in exactly this kind of situation who will happily help you protect yourself from having your IP stolen.

Treat your app like any other business, because that's what apps are. If you need funding, it's out there. If you need legal protection, it's easily available. If you need a developer you'll be swimming in a sea of options.

Unfortunately, if you don't have the money to properly protect yourself, and you don't have the ability to develop the app yourself, your options, more or less, are:

          - Learn app development to the point where you can build the app you've conceived.
          - Take the risk of bringing a developer onto your team who might Zuckerberg you.
          - Drop the idea all together.

If it was me, and I really believed my idea had the potential to be huge, I'd spend the money to talk to an IP lawyer and get myself protected.

*Possibly should be spelled bajillion. Regardless, this is an accurate number.

    Hi Magneto,

I've developed an app that's currently on the android store. I developed it myself using appery.io, they have lots of tutorials.

I used facebook ads to drive traffic to get app downloads since fb offers you the option to set up ads and link directly to the download page of the app and of course I targeted android users.

The app that I developed is a directory app and was the only one of its kind where im located and the monetization is based on selling to businesses.

My struggle is the selling to business part lol it's time consuming and i'm also working on increasing my number of downloads so that my offers to the businesses are more attractive.

What are the difficulties that you are facing?

Developing a solid app, start to finish is a daunting task and also very competitive. What you can do and what I did when I had a decent idea, is I took my idea to an app creation company and just sat down with them for their free one hour consultation. During that one hour I got everything off my chest and realized I wasn't ready/financially ready to begin the arduous journey so to speak.

Their are companies out there that are willing to take the time to answer your questions. I fortunately found one of them and that hour meeting I had was invaluable.

Saiah - My struggle is finding an App Developer who won't run off with my idea. Nobody is doing what I want to do and the market is huge.

charity4Uall - Yes, well isn't Internet Marketing also a "Daunting Task"? I would rather put my daunting time into building a machine that makes money. Millionaires Fastlane even said this is how you do it. You need automated income. I see that as just negative talk and not progressive.

Clearly the future shows us that Apps/IoT will continue to be the future and the marketers are just feeding off these brilliants ideas, but not making the biggest bucks.

If you want to make a chair, you should not be a carpenter. just you should explain to the carpenter what exactly you want. So it is not mandatory to be a coder to make an apps. Nowadays there are many freelancing market place. You can hire a freelancer from them. You need to explain to them what you want. Then they will create as you want. So you have to pay them at the time of making the apps. Thanks

Ryan2929 - Thanks for your insightful response. I do somewhat disagree with you about "The Wild West" being over. I constantly read Tech Crunch and follow the latest Blogs on the industry and every single day some hot new App is being born, with all due respect your being slightly negative. You could say that Internet Marketing is overcrowded, but people are here everyday trying to figure out how to make the next million selling some e-book that can easily be downloaded on any major Torrent site. Building a machine that can be used again and again is the best way to build so called "Passive Income".

I agree with you fully about protecting our IP with attorneys help...that leads me to another subject.

You can use upwork (former odesk) or elance and find a reputable coder. Get him/her to sign a NDA (non-disclosure agreement) before you pitch the concept.

Personally, I think there's a greater market to sell plugins than apps - at least nowadays. Check out this article on ZDNet about apps.

I think the biggest lesson I took from this was that being an early adopter = being an early profiteer.
