Too many affiliate links?

A friend of mine had decided to start IM ing and is planning on putting a golf site. I looked it over and it looks pretty good but he has like 15 to 18 affiliate links on the site selling just about anything you can think of for golf. Is that too many links? Isn't that something google doesn't like?

Google does not like when you have a lot of links but if he is going to market that website using paid ads, it is perfectly OK to have all those affiliate links.

Maybe he can take it down to 5-10 affiliate links.

Time and testing will tell him if he is on the right track.

Who cares about Google ,care about your website visitors ,because too much links annoy all of us .So my honest advise ,use split testing and see which links are working fine for you.

Just use one affiliate link that's related to golf. You don't want to cram the visitors with information overload.

Sometimes less is more, what he needs to do is not to worry about google first use paid adds and test and tweak accordingly, get rid of the ones that dont do well

If he has something the customer wants and they are interested they will buy, also try find the areas within the golf niche where you can drill down even further to be more specific dont just aim for the broad market. stand out from the other competition

If the site is huge 15 links could be ok, if they deal with different subjects

Time will tell when he goes LIVE with it. If it makes money, cool. If it doesn't, advise him on things that he should change. As far as Google goes... you could create a non-profit website about how to witness (with your own eyes) dark matter & dark energy, and Google still wouldn't like it.

There's nothing bad in giving it a try. Make some split tests with lesser affiliate links and go for the one that works best.

Having 18 affiliate links on a page is not bad if the content of the page is huge. But using that amount of affiliate links on a page with around 1k words then you're bidding your site visitors farewell.

The best strategy is to use split testing.

Maybe he can try capturing the leads as well and then promote the affiliate offers. Like others said, no matter what, test it first and then you will know..

    Good luck!

I have over 1.000.000 affiliate links on my website. And google loves the website.

It all depends on the quality of your website.

If the link is useful to your reader, include it.

That's the simple rule I use.

Earnings from the link is the byproduct of the usefulness of the link.

I don't think the number of links is an issue if you have lots of content in conjunction with your links. We do 2,000 and 3,000 word articles features up to 10 different product with multiple links for each product and still rank very highly in google with traffic growing every week (over 2,000 uniques per day).

I don't think google likes just a bunch of products listed on a page with no content and no value being added to the consumer who comes to that page. Content is king. Overused but true expression.

If it's a list post I don't see how you can just have 1 link. 1 link for each product mentioned.

I would just focus on pre-selling the affiliate offers. 15 Links - is nothing to worry about; I believe you start to have issues when you have >60 links on a single page.

Use a rotation script, that way when your visitor comes back, they see different links

I don't know about google but why he makes the visitors to his website overwhelmed with the info products he promoting. he will not gain any good with this. I think when anyone wants to promote a product he must believe in it first and make sure that it will make the difference with the people who will buy it. so he makes himself differ from others and people will trust his reviews and buys from his affiliate link.

Exactly, he should learn to grow targeted traffic and convert sales instead of wasting time, energy and space on hopes of getting a click or two.

So now we're supposed to create million link websites and hope for the sales to chime in? There is no plan here - nothing. Why send the guy on a wild goose-link chase? Learn to convert sales, build traffic - get and stay focused.
