First post and possible newbie question

Hello everyone, I've recently gotten into Internet marketing to monetize a website I have, along with a few facebook pages with a lot of engagement and fans. I'm happy to be apart of these forums and look forward to learning a lot!

My question is, I am not receiving money on clickbank from from actual clicks. The ad that I'm promoting states "Out-converts every other ex back program on CB. 75% Commish. Affiliates Earning Up To $5 A Click."

Am I reading this wrong, and am I only supposed to get paid on sales? My account is at $0. I'm promoting the ad through bing ads and have received over 500 clicks plus around another 500 through traffic from one of my websites.

Shouldn't 1000 clicks bring in at least one sale? And why aren't I getting paid on clicks when it states it in their summary.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. I appreciate the help.

it depends on the quality of the traffic, you cant just send any traffic at the offer. Also are yo uusig a lead capture page and following up through email, or ust sending directly to the sales page?

You don't actually get paid per click.

EPC is affiliate speak. It's just dividing the amount of commissions you earn by the number of clicks you sent to the offer.

Thanks, Lance. I understand that part now. I'm sending traffic directly to the sales page. Is that bad practice? Do I want to use a lead capture page, and then follow up with email?

ALWAYS. Assuming we're talking within the same industry.

You'll want to get yourself a custom build squeeze page so that all the leads you keep, will be yours to re-market to as often as you want.

Whenever you promote directly to a companies offer page or squeeze page, you're just relying on a sale, as opposed to the long term asset of a potential long term customer. If the company / biz opp had their own AutoResponder then even then... as soon as you leave that company, you also lose all the leads you've been paying for, which is a big mistake.

But in the long run, it's better for you, because you can work on building relationships with your own list, and show them why that offer is going to help them.

Lance K gave the best answer for this question. The EPC is just an average meaning affiliates are getting a lot of sales from a relatively low amount of clicks. Definitely does mean you get paid from each click. I can see how that can be confusing though.

    Not necessarily.

There are some variables you forgot to mention:

    - Broad, phrase, or exact match
    - Lead to squeeze page, or direct affiliate URL
    - Niche
    - etc

Do you have a website, or are you just promoting the raw affiliate link?

It will depends upon what type of traffic comes to your website.

Here's why email marketing is the preferred choice of most experienced internet marketers:

    - Your own database of subscribers is a business asset
    - It’s long term and builds your business on leverage
    - It allows you to “dominate” your niche
    - Instant traffic – email your subscribers and send them to any websites
    - Send an email about a product and make instant money
    - You can pre-write and save email messages to be sent on interval days using an autoresponder
    - You can put your entire business to run on complete autopilot!
    - When you get your visitors contact information, you won’t lose them
    - Email is the most intimate form of communication online
    - People are used to reading emails
    - Almost everyone has an email address online!

Yes you are reading it wrong. The per click price is the EPC...twisted way of saying Return On Investment. Thats the conversin stats actully. CB will only pay you per sale.

    Nick,

It depends how targeted your ads are and in general - it's much better to send them to your squeeze page first so that you can capture their email first - then re-market the product to them.

Direct PPC linking to a CB offer is usually a losing scenario. This advice is repeated over and over by advanced warriors.

You learned a valuable lesson. Squeeze page first, and get that email. Imagine out of that many clicks if you even got a few optins. Those people are super interested - maybe not at first sight of the sales page, but maybe after you emailed them about it 2 or 3 times or more.

One saving grace is that maybe the CB product you linked to also had an optin. If this is the case, hopefully the vendor uses your CBid in their followup emails or at least uses naked links. You may still get some sales - but the odds are not good in your favor.

    I wish you success.

    Hi nickfwp

If you're spending money on PPC with Bing or Google, you might want to consider using the clicks to help build your list.

Once you have a niche specific email list, you can send a broadcast to that list with your CB link in the email, whenever you choose.

However, driving traffic straight to an affiliate link with CB will not build your list, and by the sound of your results, will end up depleting your capital.

I used to promote CB offers when I started, but you might want to look at JVZoo.

There you can get a really good feel for what's selling well (therefore converting), and you can also link your affiliate sales to your Get Response account, so you actually build your list as you go!

    Now that is really cool!

    Hope that helps.

    All the best

    Trevor

If you are promoting on the internet you are always building a list. It is up to you if that list is yours or the others you are promoting.

Definitely choose to build your own list when you spend money.

Wow, this is all amazing advice. Thank you guys for your help, much appreciated! So if I create a squeeze page using a relationship advice niche, what would you suggest doing to encourage people to sign up. Should I just advertise the product or advertise services about that certain niche and then during an email campaign send out a link to the product being sold?

    I hope that made sense.
