Hey

How do you intend on getting traffic to your website?

Yes there are tons of make money online blogs out there so if I were you I would research the more successful blogs and see what they are offering.
If you are going to get traffic via SEO, it is beest to do some keyword research and find low competition keywords in your niche.

Your main keyword should be included in your domain name.
If you are going to get traffic using other methods, then just come up with a short catchy domain name related to the make money online niche. There are tons of ideas you can think of.

Whether you use your own name or just select a generic make money online domain, I doubt it will make much difference.

Of course, something unique or creative will be better for the domain, but the domain will be the least of your worries. You'll need a lot of great content to attract such audience, so it will have to be something really useful.

Yes I have some awesome ideas for content which are really unique and a lot different to whats out there at the moment. I also think the make money online industry is getting a bit of a better name nowadays

I find that sites with a "pen name" tend to do better for me. Builds trust to the prospect in a different way then a brand

Why not use your full name as the domain name? You can use a name like "the IM Blogger" as your domain name. You should not use keywords like make money online as your domain name, Google treat such websites as spam sites and will penalize your website.

Do you mean using your name as part of the domain? Or as the main article byline?

Using your name within your article could potentially make people relate to you more and make you more approachable. You are putting your name/face to the business, showing that you are a fellow human being and not some nameless, faceless corporation simply trying to sell things to your readers.

It could also make you more recognizable in the future when building relationships with other influencers.

As far as using your name on the domain, well, in my opinion it doesn't really matter. In the end, people will pay far more attention to the content itself.

Use your name.

Realistically, the domain is almost certainly not going to matter as long as it isn't so spammy and cringe inducing that it actually drives people away when it comes up in Google.

It's going to be the quality of the content and the advice that you give, along with the frequency and longevity of your efforts, that are going to make or break your site.

So why do I say use your own name?

Because if nothing else, having your real name tied to the site might be that little extra nudge you need one day to keep you on the light side of the force when you're on the verge of mayyyyybe posting something that fits into the spammier side of the MMO niche.

...along with space for lying, deceitful marketers (and websites) also.

Just make the domain relevant to whatever your product(s)/service(s) are. The main thing is generating traffic. You will not get rich with a fancy domain name... that nobody will know about. (except for your family members)

Nice keyword stuffing there for 'make money online' Mr palmer9999. I'm surprised the 'mods' haven't punished this thread for that yet.

Unless you are the god of making money online, I doubt that ranking your website for 'make money online' will make it to the 1st page of the search engines if you are hoping to get search engine traffic to your website.

I'd suggest going to one of the sub-niches of 'make money online' that would be easier to rank for unless you planning on rather using pay per click advertising to drive traffic to your website.

That being said, it all depends on your budget and what you intend to do to make your website a benefit to it's visitors.

It's all about branding

if you are really serious about this venture you are going to need to brand yourself either create a web property that can be sold down the road so using your name is not a good idea

But if your ego is what controls your venture then using your name is the way to go

make money online is one of the hardest nuts to crack since it is so spammed and competitive

Without a great domain name, you will be lost in space, and that is the problem for most, just too much competition in the passive income arena as I see it. I would go with a short to the point attention getting domain name. Try SMARTASS-INCOME. lol
