How is this even possible?

How is www.baddassbeardcare.com/products ranked #2 for the keyword "Beard Care Products" and http://www.beardcareproducts.com is ranked #10?

The page ranked #2 is only just over a half year old, has NO Juice page links, a KC of zero, and a page authority of just one.

The page ranked #10 has been around for 7 years, has 190 juice links, and a KC of 37.

See attached image for more info.

Clearly either these people are brilliant marketers or Google is corrupt.

The problem cannot possibly be that your SEO analysis is based on incorrect or irrelevant information.

Why wouldn't it rank at #2? There's nothing optimized for the phrase under it in the SERP..

        What?

#10, the one I mentioned is. So is #4 in the title and #8 in the link.

What is incorrect or irrelevant? Juice links or authority links, keyword optimization?

        I answered that above....twice.

That page is not optimized properly for that phrase...

Of the 3 or 4 main things it needs, only 1 is done

Exact match domains no longer have a default SEO advantage

Also, what are the stats for the main domain of result #2? It might explain #2's ranking despite #2's weak backlink footprint.

Actually, exact match domains DO have an advantage still. I see them rank for NEW product launches all the time.

PLUS - they've got an even BETTER advantage when the site is built out in an authoritative way.

They're not as strong as they used to be, but they definitively do work.
Still though - it does help to have a properly optimized site (which this one is not)

Anyways, both have "Beard Care" IN the domain which helps.

http://www.baddassbeardcare.com/products seems to be offline now

So let's look at Beard Care Products: Conditioners, Shampoos & Oils - FREE Shipping on $50+

    No content on the homepage

Adding 500-700 words of content would help IMMENSELY

    • Title Tag: Keyword Present, but the title tag is 74 characters - too long
    • Description Tag: Keyword NOT present. Not required now, but probably helps.
    • <h1> tag: Not Present (VERY important)
    • Images: They seem okay - I'm NOT going to go through every image on the HP - but is there a beardcare-products.jpg? If not - there should be
    • Content: Add it!
Add the KW to the description tag, add an h1 tag, add CONTENT to the homepage.

It's easy, there's MUCH more than just the domain name and links that make a difference

Fix the above, and I GUARANTEE it'll rank higher up a few days after google re-indexes the changes
