Interested to hear everyone's opinion on what they think is more profitable and what has worked for them.

Quality - You have put all your time and effort into one thing and relied on that to bring you in $$

Quantity - You struggle to focus on one project so you have several ventures on the go at once.

For example, I run a web design business. I'm at a cross road. Do I put all my effort into building the business further? Or do I look to start another business in a different niche?

Looking forward to your thoughts.

Focus on one thing and do it to the best of your ability. Once you master something, add complimenting services.

I'd have to agree with quality. Focusing on one project.
One of the biggest reasons for beginners struggling so much to find success, is that they just jump around from one business model to the next.

It's a lot of both. Many Marketers stop at creating a time-intensive product and do a small amount promotion for it. The way to balance it is one word...Syndication. If you put all of your time and energy into a product that you can take pride in, the next step should be massive promotion. The more people with access to your great product the better your earnings from it.

There's nothing to discuss here- quality always wins in every aspect of life. Do one thing awesome and people will take notice...and then it opens other doors. It doesn't work that way in reverse though.

    Quality. Always quality.

I can't think of any business or individual out there right now who are at the top of their market because they chose quantity over quality.

I mean sure, most businesses get bought out once their quality reaches a threshold, and then the new owners sacrifice quality for quantity. It's a common business tactic. Not one I like, but it happens.

But none of that happens if quality was not the first priority.

Focusing on one thing and doing it better is probably a good first choice. If you really think you have maxed out your effort, then better to try something new.

Completely agree with all the above posts. I never stray from my area of expertise BUT that expertise can be translated into different main topics. Quality content always wins over blahblah. And contrary to what appears to be a belief in this forum, a site whose content is both educational and authoritative (provided the authority can be independently verified*) is considered valuable by viewers, creating recommendations.

*Independently verified: Here's the trick - let your viewers know they don't have to take your word for what you are telling them. Let them know they can research the Internet and libraries to verify that what you are saying is rock solid. Very few will actually do that, but make damn sure you know what you are talking about by doing your own research.

Now you can write content (the more the merrier) from different viewpoints to appeal to different viewers. Thus, each article becomes a landing page with it's own focus, increasing viewership and click-throughs.

Make sure you have in-text product or in-site links that open in a different window <a href"www.coolproduct. com"(space)target="new"> or <a href"www.mydomain.com/neat landing page. htm"(space)target="blank"> so that the "leave" page remains open for the viewer to return to or reference or just to keep your site open in the viewer's browser. You really, really don't want your viewers leaving your site.

NOTE: the rel="nofollow" was inserted by the auto html system in forum base. Do not insert into your link dialog

I tend to focus on one thing that works and try to make it even bigger. So quality for me. Better to have one venture doing really well than to have many doing poorly. Plus it costs less time and money.

Hey Jack, only you know this at the back of your head. The reason you asked this because you feel your 'quality' is struggling, be it whatever reasons. Only you truly know the potential of your current project, if you have doubts, split it up, try to look for other niches. Maybe as you are reading this, you probably have that realization of what you want to do already.

    Best of luck sir!

I'm In the make money online niche currently and I have been focusing all of my time and effort into building that business up first. Once that business is where I want it then I will go onto build other lists in other niches. Always provide awesome content to help your customers, in doing this you will see your business explode over time.

Thanks for all the replies. I see we have a clear winner in quality.

I didn't post this because I'm unhappy or failing with my current venture, was just wondering what others did.

I feel like once i'm at a level where my business is at the level I want it to be, I can then branch out into other avenues or try to dominate some sub niches.

If you can manage two business simultaneously then start it. But before starting second one you have to stablish effectively the first one after then think about the second. There is no rule to focus on a single thing, if you can manage, go for it.

If you're looking to maximize conversions, QUALITY wins all day... every day!

This should be your guiding philosophy when it comes to your content assets too.

However, if you are talking about SIPHONING TRAFFIC, quantity (with proper targeting and set up) is the name of the game.

    Why?

You need a large traffic volume to QUALIFY further and TWEAK your conversion strategy.

Once you have a CLEAR idea of what works, you can DIAL DOWN on the traffic.

At that point 'Less is More' will make more sense. Focus on higher converting qualified traffic instead of 'fire hydrant' traffic

You are right about diversifying and not relying on one thing for all your income, BUT and it's a BIG BUT...

You only do that once you've established at least once successful and profitable business, because otherwise your focus will be all over the place and instead of having multiple streams of income, you'll have tons of crap that will be worth nothing, because you have no idea what you're doing.

personally I prefer to focus on quality, because I think that at this moment in history of things there are really a lot, so to stand out you have to impress your potential buyer, you have to offer something really effective, but this is just my humble opinion, the strategy this work is very personal

In my opinion the best thing I ever did was push outside my self perceived limitations in terms of quality and quantity, and I invite you to try and do the same.

You need both quantity and quality to maximize your effectiveness.

This is exactly what I plan to do. All though every business venture is different, I reckon if I succeed with my web design, I can implement the same strategies that made that successful with the new business.

My answer is "YES" to both of these questions. But....

...i do venture off into another venture until my other business is automated 95%. By "automated 95%", i mean that all i have to do is click a few buttons to pay for more ads, then i go on my merry way.

Once the email marketing funnel and backend products are set and ready to go, it's time to automate, and (if you want to)... look into another business to start - just in case another one goes awry.
