Yet another thread about Kindle books

Hi

I am planning to write books for kids. Below are few questions:

1- Is it Ok if I translate my books in local language of my country and sell hard copy? Do Amazon stop me from that?

2- Selling hard copy of Original English version?

3- I am not a native English Speaker. If I hire some proof reader/editor, should I worry about content stealing? How to cope with it?

Thanks

    Hi pknerd,

    Really quickly:

    1. Yes, that is okay. Amazon would never stop anyone from translating their own book and selling it. That would just be weird.

    2. Yes, that is what a lot of authors do. Even I published a hard copy book alongside a Kindle version.

    3. Your only "protection" against theft is an enforceable contract, which actually doesn't protect anything. It only punishes violators. If you're not comfortable with that very real risk, you'll need to write the content yourself.

1- You can sell hard copies after translation. You must be writer or have rights to do so.

2- You can sell kindle version and hard copy both on Amazon. Use createspace.com to sell hard copies of your kindle version.

3- Don't worry. Just hire someone for proofreading. Professional proof readers usually don't steal content.

I will agree with Robert. I am a professional editor/proofreader and I would NEVER steal anybody's work. My reputation is too precious for me to risk that and, to be honest, the thought never occurred to me.

You'll find that most people will have the same attitude.
