Free marketing frustrates MANY newbies and experienced marketers

Almost everywhere you go online, many "experts" and "gurus" will tell their students/affiliates to go out and use free marketing.

Whether it is:

Free YouTube marketing.
Free article marketing.
Free traffic from blog commenting.
Free classifieds.
Forum marketing.
Product reviews.

They tell their students that it is not worth it to pay for ads and they tell them that not a lot of people are doing these free techniques so now it the time to take massive action.

People are also taught that paid ads is just too expensive and they will not get a good return on their investment.

So they take massive action with free marketing and then 6 months later, they made 1-3 sales. (Sometimes even sales)

There are other mentors out there, and I am not going to name any names here, that tell their students and affiliates that if they want to get the best results and earn money FAST, paid ads is the way to go.

They are RIGHT.

Paid ads is fast and easy. If you do things right, there is a good chance that you will see positive results in a matter of a few hours. Whether it is leads or sales or both, paid ads BEATS THE CRAP out of free ads.

Even if you start small with paid ads, start right now.

Test different places to see what works best for you and you will get traffic that will sign up on your list and buy what ever products you are promoting to them.

    Yes, I agree to some extent that paid ads are the best way to go.

    But there's still a lot to be said for free methods as well.

    The ultimate results are when you use both.

      Their greatest "guru" and "expert" are their empty pockets! The second teacher is their empty head - only realized after they lose their shirt with paid advertising.

      Before putting money down on paid advertising, learn what can be learned for free. Learn to get traffic and build a list for free. Learn to make money for free. Learn how to target your advertising and how to run keyword search engine ad campaigns.

      Learn this for free and then get free coupons to fund your Google and Bing accounts with $100 each. Then use their money to make more money with paid ads.

      By this time you should have made money and learned enough to keep using paid ads and expand your marketing from there.

    But in further support of your argument...

    I'd like to point out that THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS FREE MARKETING.

    You're still PAYING.

    How?

    You might not be dishing out greenbacks but you're still paying...

    with your time

    Since time is money and free traffic needs TIME AND EFFORT to build up, TWEAK, and HONE, you are paying.... QUITE A BIT!

    How is spending time on one thing instead of another costing you? How is time money?

    If you want to build a business that will have any chances to live for long and grow over time, you need to put some effort in the foundation.
    It will take some time to make solid business and if that's your goal, then you have to walk down that path.
    With that said, I agree on what's said above: Use paid traffic for "quick" impact, but make sure to work with all the free marketing techniques mentioned. Then you will have a good chance to grow over time.

      One of the fastest growing ways to solve the free marketing vs. paid ad debate is to incorporate both as others have already said.

      But you should also incorporate more Influencer Marketing strategies as well. This is an area most Internet marketers totally ignore. But more savvy marketers are quietly using them and boosting sales faster than both paid ads or traditional Free marketing methods combined. Here's Proof

    To add to his point, the main reason people are afraid to pay for traffic is fear .

    In business you have to take risks, you can't avoid it.

    Yes some ads will not work, but if you want to be successful you need to try again and again until you find something that works. I

    Once you have found what works for you then all you need to do is to scale up and rinse and repeat!

    While a lot of internet marketers do achieve success with FREE traffic, they are disciplined to follow through and release content on the internet EVERYDAY.

    If you are not disciplined to spend at least an hour everyday, writing articles and producing content on (Like most people are) then it it will much more easier for you to pay for it, and save yourself a lot of time and hard work!

    Buy traffic and focus on building a relationship with your followers!

    well said brother, there's nothing like free traffic, you just pay with the time..

    paid traffic is the only way to go and you can get 50 cent, 1 dollar clicks all day long on platforms like fb and youtube, I won't say that's expensive at all! I'd rather work at McDonald and get the fund for paid traffic then rely on free methods! haha

    If you go down the free adds route trust me you will end up paying anyway, your time is precious and spending far too much of it trying out free adds really isn't worth it. The response from free adds is something like 0.05% against paid adds 5%.Its a no brainer.

    yes! totally agree man, free traffic is not the way to go as requires time so it's not free at all!

    better to master one traffic source for example cpc on a friendly affiliate platform and spend some money to test until u succeed.

    that's the best advice i can give to someone new to affiliate IM.

      That is why most people will spend $100's all at once and then when they don't see any results, they will quit and say pay per click is not worth it.

      That is why you got to start small and test your ads and campaigns.

        This is the KEY to paid ads ^^^^^^. Test - track - tweak - test again.

        Study, learn, and experiment on a small scale until you can consistently be positive in your ROI. Then ramp up incrementally.

    Free marketing doesn't frustrate me anymore. In the beginning i praised free marketing - even though i was making minimal sales from it. Ever since i started doing good paid advertising, it has totally changed my outlook on free marketing. Paid advertising gives you a good life. As the homie said above, even if you do free marketing, your time is still paying for it.

    It's a tradeoff. Question is, do you want to spend $2,000 a month in paid ads to make $5,000 profit, or......

    Spend 10 hours per day using free marketing to make the same $5,000 a month?

  • I think this is just a lie to promote his own paid ads campaign. In the statement, he says that paid ads creates quick and fast results and beat out the free one. Clearly, the free one doesn't work that well. We can see the list of free things he tell us. However, if we look at his statistic, we can see that he posts more than 7k post in this forum and his website is about teaching other how to do internet marketing. Clearly, this is a contradiction. He says that free marketing ways doesn't work so well but he posted in this forum more than 7k times and spend like more than 10 years in this forum doing that. We know that this forum is a free marketing way for people to promote their stuffs. Clearly, he is using this post to promote his own paid marketing way or just to promote himself.
    In addition, this is not even trustworthy as he say something and do the other. Clearly, he will teach you about paid marketing way while doing free marketing way. So, not a good source.

      I will be honest. I don't get much or any results with this forum. Most people will click on the link, go to my website, and never buy. So why do I come here almost every day? I think when you give out your best advice to others and help them, you get good karma. Plus, I always liked to participate in internet marketing forums. (That's just me).

      I still do paid ads and I know that this gets results.

      I have written over 1000 product reviews over the years....I get no results from that.

      I have 500+ articles on my website......I am getting maybe 5-10 visitors per day. (That's bad)

      I have close to 100 videos on YouTube..........No results from that.

        Free traffic = slow results. Does it work? Yes-eventually. True cost - lots of your time.

        Paid traffic = fast results. Does it work? Yes - once you test, tweak, test again until you get a good converting funnel. True cost - you will probably lose money at first but test, test, test until you start seeing profits. Then test some more. So true cost = money (of course) and time testing, tweaking etc.

        Both are valid, it just depends on your budget, and how fast you need to see a return.

    Paid traffic is so much quicker and easier.. I hate waiting months for 'free' traffic to show up. Or you have to bust your ass with offline flyers etc which cost time and money to create flyers and deliver.
