The main discussion forum needs an enema!

As the title implies, "the main discussion forum needs an enema".
So what can be done to clean it up, let the cleansing begin.

Most of us veteran members are exhausted from seeing the same type of threads being started as of late.

How can I make $10 a day
How can I make $100 a month
I need to make $200 really fast, tell me your secrets

As others have pointed out in similar threads, it's like beating a dead horse because it won't change a thing but if we keep on posting these type threads then maybe there be a few of these always on the first page by keeping the discussion going and adding to it.

Newbies, you guys are very welcome here, everyone has to start somewhere but you really need to get in the mindset of using the search function. How are you going to be successful if you want things served up on a silver platter, you have to start doing things for yourself.

I put together a few screenshots for those who are un familiar with the search function and those who are afraid of it, and for those who are just too lazy to try.

At the right of the top navigation bar, click on search and then click on advanced search on the drop down menu as indicated in the screenshot below.

When you get to the next screen you can either enter a search query on the left or enter a members username on the right as indicated by the arrows in the image below, you can even choose which sub forum you wish to search.

Now that we have the "do for yourself crash course" out of the way, you have to get rid of the how can I make or how long will it take to make $XYZ amount of money mindset or you won't make a red cent.

If you create a blog with that type of mindset your visitors will see right through you. You should consistently ad content and not just any information because unless you've been living under a rock, info is very abundant on the internet therefor your content should have your unique spin and style.

Don't get discouraged if you are not in profit this month, next month or the month after, just keep updating your blog with better than average content.

Checkout this guy who never thought he would make a penny from blogging and he is now collecting a hefty $75,000 a month.

You can either click on the link or keep on pipe dreaming, the choice is yours.

Great post! The clear lack of new users not using the search function does my head in. More times than not the exact thread I would of posted had already been posted, which was great. Didn't have to wait for answers, it was all there.

Also, that's a great story to read. Really shows that any of us can make it big as long as we put the time and hard work in!

I second that Joseph. The main discussion forum is just full of S&#$ posts
with really generic posts... how to start making $$?? what's the best web hosting??
I noticed an increase of these generice posts more since the takeover by Freelancer.
and coincidentally, by new members who would have joined around the same time
Freelancer joined the party. is it just me or does anyone else smell some fish in the air?

Good Thread Joseph... If i may add...

A pet peeve, people posting in the wrong forum...
I just don't get why people who have been members for a while don't seem to know that there is more to WF than just the Main forum...

Newbies can be forgiven for a while but older members seriously, Why Do Some Of You Insist On Starting Threads In The Wrong Forum?

I am sure anyone who types in warriorforum.com lands on the same page right? Can you not see that there is more to WF than just the Main Forum? Don't you feel the urge to scroll down just to see what the other forums are about?

Yet you insist on posting SEO, Copywriting, Off Topic, CPA, PPV etc topics in the Main Forum, Why?

Another thing that gets me is how members who answer those newbie threads are so wrapped up in their sig exposure that they don't see blatant spam or they just don't give a crap, like in this thread where a member posts a video.

Checkout the very first thing you see in the video, a link and then look at the members username.

Joseph, it's a good idea to remind people they shouldn't spam
but for the most part, I think it's more productive to focus on the
good of this forum. I beleive there are still a lot of genuine and
helpful people/marketers on here that we can connect with - and
those others will recognize other smart, genuine marketers too
and skip over all the spam.
However I do know that if the spam gets too out of control, it
will drive the more genuine users away. But I don't think it has
gotten to that point yet. Let's hope not, anyway.

Joseph, as much as I agree with you, but unfortunately it will never happen, because most people are too lazy and more inclined towards asking questions and expecting some strangers on the Internet to spoon-feed them, rather than do their own research and figure out the answers for themselves.

    That's life, welcome.

Well, that is the crux of the problem. What's worse than people asking ridiculous or oft-repeated questions is the people that continuously answer them with ridiculous answers of which, 'build a list, scale-up, rinse and repeat and learn to monetize,' lead the list. Worthless bromides with no meat on the bones.

To prove my point that people would rather hear themselves talk, or get signature link views, rather than do something constructive to make the forum better, I offer you this.

The next time you see one of these post, reply with: "Your question has been asked and answered numerous times on this forum. We value members that look to help themselves by doing the requisite research on any topic before asking those of us that prefer using our time making a living, to assist them.

If you need help learning the search functions on this site, please view this thread: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...eds-enema.html

If, after searching for your topic, if you are unable to find your answer, please post a meaningful question and someone will surely assist you."

If everyone did this for 7 short days, this forum could be completely transformed. If you don't think it's worth a try then please don't complain about anything that takes place here.

Either copy and paste the message into a notepad so it is always just a click away, or write your own post along the same lines and keep it at the ready.

The challenge is on! Now it's time for the whiners to start saying that it can't be done. Please note that these will be the same losers constantly telling you that anything is possible if you believe in something and work at it hard enough. lol

        Totally Agree...
Especially if it came from members who have been here for a while... Unfortunately there are only a few who do this on a consistent basis, the rest are too busy trying to sign up members for their "Expert Coaching". Hoping people will click on their sig link if they take every opportunity to talk about their road to IM millions and so on...

You can't even get 2 people to agree on whether the Sun is the center of our solar system these days, never mind getting a few thousand people to do something that does not benefit them directly...

Wow - not really the defeatist attitude I would have expected from you. If you and I started this, perhaps we could set an example for others to follow.

If we are unable to affect any change, at least we will have the satisfaction of knowing that we at least tried. That's more than most will be able to say. I'm game if you are and I'll bet that by the end of the weekend we could get 2 dozen people to join us.

You never know until you try. Don't you 'believe' that anything is possible. lol

Excellent post Frank, It certainly is a challenge as there has been quite a few members creating threads of this very same nature with no avail, it's seems that it's all too easy to just creat a thread asking how to make $xyz rather than search for themselves.

A light bulb just went on in my head!!! FL can take this thread, a similar thread or even create their own thread and pin it as the very first post in the main discussion forum titled "Earn $10 $20 or even $100 per day updated info just released", so when a newbie enters the main forum bam it's the very first post they see.

It will never completely rid the forum of those type posts but it can certainly have a positive overall effect.

Again, totally agree with you, but unfortunately for every person who asks a silly question, there's probably another 10 who are willing to give answers due to many reasons, such as being "in the game" for many years or promoting their signature (building a list) or just for the sake of raising the post count and becoming popular on the forum.

Of course, don't want to put everyone under the above description, because there are many genuine members who provide excellent help, but clearly those are in the minority.

And as for your challenge, good luck explaining that to 1375 members (currently online).

You're right, but then you have to consider whether it's really worth your time and what you're going to gain after walking those 1000 miles...

In this case, try to convince thousands of online strangers all over the world to not reply to silly questions posted by newbies on a forum that's owned by someone I have no connection with?

            Thanks, but I'll pass.

The line, "The journey of 1000 miles begins with one step."

I was being facetious. While there is a smidgen of truth in every cliché, most are ridiculous. What's wrong with this one? Most folks would be dead before completing that 1000 mile journey, so why bother taking that first step? I may have felt differently, decades ago - but not at my age, now. lol.

I usually don't click links about bloggers 'rags to riches' stories but you had made so many good points in your post I wanted to check it out. I am glad I did.

    I especially liked these comments:

"How my business thrives is by being super generous — by creating a lot of value, giving it away, and not really worrying if those people become customers or not. When I look at the numbers too much, I veer off track and don't do as well."

Cochrane advises other content creators to set themselves apart by developing "a clear voice in your niche" and sticking to it. "Don't just relay information," he says. "There's information aplenty. Put your unique view and spin on it. Everything I do lives or dies by my content. Every article I write or video I make so if it's the only piece of content you come into contact with, I want it to help you and change your world."

    Thanks for sharing this.

Maybe a new category should be started, "How to make the first $5 (or $10, or $100...etc) online". Then every time someone posts such a question, the mods can move the thread to that category.

As much as i agree with 100% of what you just said Joesph, you did say: "Most of us".

For the other small portion of veteran members... they look at it as opportunity. The more newbie gullible members this forum gets, the more they can promote their "miracle" traffic secrets product to them.

So for you, alot of these threads by newbies are ridiculous. For others... these threads are worth gold... "gold" in the sense of attracting the right no-knowledge having newbie that they can sell their grand delusion to. That's why alot of veteran members have STAYED here... despite the new ownership, and despite the major drop in traffic. It's money season for them.

That is part of the problem, they want to swoop down on these newbies like an eagle clutching on to a small rodent. They can still get their sigs clicked on if they engaged and provided information on threads like these.
