Best affiliate marketing strategies

25 replies
I have developed and sold digital products, developed and managed websites, developed software and many other things. I have been making a living doing this stuff for many years but it's a lot of work.

I might want to try selling other people's product, as an affiliate. It just seems like a good idea because I am kind of tired of developing product.

However, if I want to do affiliate marketing, I know I will have to face the challenge of getting traffic, which seems to be even more difficult then developing product. When I think about traffic, I quickly lose my enthusiasm.

If you have a positive experience as an affiliate and you have made six figures income from affiliate marketing, I would appreciate if you could point me in the right direction.

      So, you have experience in making six figure income, using paid traffic? If so, can you share it with us?

        No, he won't. Even if the guy was making $1,500/month from affiliate marketing, he's not going to give you his business.

        You don't need a person who is making 6-figures. If a guy was making a legit $5,000/month from affiliate marketing... would you believe him, and take him seriously about his advice on how to make money with it?

        Or would you dismiss him?

        P.S. $60,000/year online is pretty damn good. Ever had a 9-5 job that paid you that much?

          Hi Randall, thanks very much for your reply.
          Yes, you're right, of course.

          However, I actually don't expect anyone to tell me exactly how they did it. As I said in my post, I am losing my enthusiasm, so I just need to hear from someone who has succeeded in affiliate marketing, to point me in the right direction.

          The reason I put six figures in my OP and emphasized experience is to avoid getting annoying, nonsense replies like the two replies before yours...but it didn't work obviously.

    To answer both your questions - Yes.

    Fb ads > Presale (With affiliate links) > Offer

    Of course there's a lot more involved, and the devil is in the details, but that is a proven system that I (And the firm that I'm a partner of) have been extremely successful with.

    I have extensive experience in the diet market, and a fair amount in the skin, muscle, auto loans, home refi and dating markets.

    I'm very open about my business, and how everything works. Maybe 1/10,000 people on this forum have what it takes to replicate and succeed with how I do it. It takes a lot of work, testing and money to get it going. You can start small, it just takes a while longer.

    If you'd like to shoot me a message, I'd be happy to go a little more in depth with you. I can show you good examples of presale pages, ad copy's, successful campaigns - Ones I'm no longer running of course.

    There is no successful affiliate marketing without mastering traffic so I am sorry to inform you that the dog comes with the fleas. I find it hard to fathom that someone who can create products and manage websites find traffic challenging, but to each his own. If you need to revive your enthusiasm shoot me a message

    From your comments, it seems you want something which works on autopilot to make you the amount of money you are talking about. I am afraid there is no such system.

    However with the kind of experience you have you can do anything you want. And I would suggest you to do something which you have done successfully before.

    For example if you create a new product, after that you can emphasize on getting affiliates through clickbank, warriorplus, jvzoo so that you don't have to work on traffic part. Now that I have provided the outline, you should be able to implement it on your own.

    I think you need to do paid traffic.. key is to go where the targeted traffic is.. you can have the best offer but if there's no traffic for it, you're screwed.

    You said that it has developed digital products in the past, but they've sold?

    If so, how?

    That the product is your or affiliation, does not change the sales process.

      I developed digital products and licensed the rights to other businesses (B2B), they would then market the products (B2C).

        So why don't you develop a digital product that solves a problem in your chosen market,and then recruit affiliates to promote it for you?

        This way you do not need to waste your time/money on driving traffic which is one-time but instead spend your time recruiting affiliates who can be utilised repeatedly for future products.

    I see mention of "paid traffic" as some advice being given. While I'm more than what you'd call a "fan" of paid traffic, I do believe it should never be approached right off the bat. As Bill Murray intones in one of my favourite movies: "Baby steps." There is a great deal more to targeting when it comes to paid traffic. Any idiot can do that. The trick is a combination of the right message (whether text or banner), the right domain name, even, and - paramount here - the right landing page. You can learn all of those things by paying outright for help, or you can do so - the most usual way - by scouring threads in different forums, devouring whatever free resources you can find (and there are seemingly endless streams of them), and - where it really counts - taking action. Only when you take action on PPC, PPV, etc., can you begin to understand. The trouble is - you need to burn cash to get your education. And, take it from me, that education never stops - the learning just gets easier. Even if you have a monthly ad spend of $25K or more, every single new campaign will burn cash in the beginning, until you hit a break-even EPC and then a positive ROI EPC.

    I write a lot on WF about building traffic platforms and traffic channels. Old school terms that probably require some explanation.

    #1 - Traffic Platforms

    Some examples:

    - Facebook Pages;
    - Facebook Groups;
    - Twitter Accounts;
    - Pinterest Accounts, Pins, & Boards;
    - G+ Pages;
    - G+ Communities;
    - Newsletter Lists;

    #2 - Traffic Channels

    Some examples:

    - Ranking Videos in Video-Sharing SERPs & External Search Engines;
    - Forum Sig Files in (usually) Google-Ranked Forum Threads;
    - Ranking Entire Websites, Website Pages, or Traffic Platforms in Google Search;
    - Article Syndication;
    - Viral Marketing (Pages, Videos, Images, Even "Words Said in Videos").

    My Advice

    Get started with #1 and #2. Once you've somewhat mastered those, take the next step to paid.

    Cheers,

    Tom

    lol, gotta love how you've quoted some clowns saying "paid traffic is the best" without them actually going into any further details about why it's the best and how to use it properly...

    Yes, traffic is always a problem. No traffic = no sales. However, you have a bit of a advantage over most people, because you've been on the development side of things, so at least you know what goes into creating a digital product, design, copywriting, packaging, etc.

    There are 2 ways you could go about this...

    You'll probably like the idea of paid traffic, for example pay-per-click ads on BingAds, because it's instant and you can laser-target your audience, but it's definitely not cheap. Depending on your niche, expect to pay anything from $0.50 to $2 per click, so just 1000 clicks can easily add up to $500-2000 in ad spendings.

    And of course, you'll have to learn the ins and outs of PPC advertising and most likely you'll spend a good few $k on the learning curve...If you have the budget, then this is as easy and as quick as it gets. When you become a bit more confident with it, you could create a digital product for yourself and then promote it with PPC. Recruit affiliates further down the line, while also promoting yourself.

    The free ways take a lot more time and a lot more work, because typically you would need to start a blog, post loads of content about your niche, then network with others in the community via different social channels to build up your audience, etc, etc.

    Go with paid traffic if you can afford it. Free traffic can be good but often takes some time to build, and if your not sure about what your doing it might disappoint you

    Traffic won't really be an issue if you focus on reviewing products that not everyone and their mother are reviewing (e.g., newly released products, etc.) And while the number of visitors will be small, those that come to your site will be in buyer mode and thus will convert more often than not.
