Should i focus on the "niche" or the "micro-niche" ?

The advantage of the niche is there are unlimited affiliate products to promote, but the "micro-niche" almost 1-2 affiliate products.

For example, i should go with the "Muscle-building" niche, or the "Six Pack Abs" micro-niche?

Thanks in advance.

In hyper competitive niches like bodybuilding it is better to go into micro niches, ultimately you can go on an offer other products from your niche to your customers as well.

Micro niche is the best choice. Less competitive and highly targeted. Currently the six pack niche is a great choice..See here: Google trends

If the product choice in your "micro-niche" is very limited, then it wouldn't really make sense to go into that niche, right?

What are you going to promote? Those 1-2 products could be total rubbish and then you'd have nothing to promote apart from putting Adsense on your blog or selling advertising space...

    Maybe Amazon?

In any case you have to look at all possible opportunities in your niche before you dive in.

I would say niche as micro niches have no affiliate programs unless your going to create your own micro niche product then thats a different story. J

I'd say go the micro-niche route and create your own products. Also even though you'd be in a smaller niche, you can still sell other stuff to your audience, stuff relating to diets, mindset etc.

If you create your own products or outsource to create your own products, the 'problem' you outlined goes away.

In fact, creating your own products makes the most sense when it comes to making money online.

    Why?

You control the POSITIONING of your product - this is a very important factor when it comes to conversion.

You control your sales page materials.

You control how much money you make per sale.

You control how your sales materials and freebie promo products will appeal to your target audience.

You control the quality of the product.

You get TONS of control if you produce your own products

    You should focus on both.

Blogging is hot (niche), but video blogging (micro-niche) doesn't get much praise. Do you think you could make a real-LIVE business out of video blogging? Would the problem be backend products? You need to find an easy solution.

I agree totally the micro-niches will be extremely profitable but another profitable way that no one mentioned is to simply...

Go into the competitive niche, offer free and small priced products of broad appeal, then break down those buyer and freebie lists into your micro-niches, then sell them. Although micro-niche targeting often way cheaper, doing it this way you get the mass appeal and can convert already interested prospects into that micro-niche and then convert others as well.

I would say you need to focus on micro-niche.

I had a website for the clickbank product - tao of badass.

Never really ranked for it but ranked for "tao of badass pdf" and "tao of badass reviews".

these 2 keywords have low competition and are still bringing me sales and I haven't updated my site since last 2 years.

This is just 1 example. I have numerous other sites on clickbank niche and I rank for them.
so I would advice micro niche

Micro niche is good to begin with. Usually, micro niches have low / no competition and easier to sell to.

Depends on the nature of the niche but as someone once said, if its super competitive, like bodybuilding you should definitely go for a micro niche

Why not work on the niche in general and break it down into the micro niches one at a time so you build an authority website in the long run

otherwise your putting all your eggs in one basket

Go with 6 pack abs and then later you can cross sell into more general or more specific niches
