First post at warrior and indeed new to the whole IM game.

Done alot of reading on here and other resources but just wanted to clear up a couple of things in my mind to make sure i'm understanding a couple of points.

These questions relate mostly to affiliate products which is where i am looking to start my IM career.

1. I am promoting a money making system for example. I decide to use blogs as a means of generating some traffic. What link am i using in the blog? A link to my landing page where i have say various money making articals and content and then have a link to my affiliate product or should it link direct to the vendor?

2. A squeeze page. I think these are the pop ups that offer a free report or something in return for an email address? Where should this appear? On my landing page or somewhere else withing the site?

Sorry if these are silly questions. I have read alot of posts on this forum but these are pretty specific questions .

I am looking as i say at affiliating first of all and using a mixture of blogs, articles etc to drive traffic.

Think i now understand all the individual components that are needed to get going i think it's just the order in which they come i need to get to grips with.

Thanks in advance guys n gals and i look forward to becoming successful enough to provide some great tips and help to others in the future!!

Create a blog which is key word sensitive, and yes you can put links in your blog posts which point directly to the product. These of course are your affiliate links.

In many cases the product will already have a squeeze page.

If you wish to take things one step further and start list building, you will need to get an autoresponder in place. This can be a sign up added to the side of your blog AND you would create a seperate squeeze page on your site.

An easy way to get sign-ups is to give something of value away, like a report or something that kicks in where the product you are promoting might fall short.

Once people are on your list, you can email them the link directly to the products sales page, and you will have more opportunity to keep their attention and promote several things to them over time.

about question number 2, i guess you are mention about opt-in form. You can get this when you have an autoresponder. you can put it in your blog or landing page, but you will need to tell them why they need to subscribe in your list. maybe provide some good training course or something

Make it as editorial and info-packed as possible. People see right through sales pitches disguised as blogs these days. You can place a few links in the articles themselves or at the end. Also place one ad for the product youre promoting in the right margin as well.

I would put an opt-in form on the site somewhere, dont pop it up or use something else intrusive like an overlay. Just offer a free report or something else thats of value to people and use aweber or similar to capture the info.

In relation to question 1, I think many people would agree that a landing page with a really good pre-sell, for example a detailed and honest review, has a better chance of converting than linking directly to the vendor page.

    Hey and welcome man!

I like diagrams but there is no draw tool here so let me try this:

traffic -> blog -> your landing page/squeeze page -> affiliate sales page

Your blog should be preselling them on the product or just offering great advice and then when they click through to your landing page/ squeeze page you should be offering a free bonus to get them to optin. Then you can sell to them through your list.

There are a lot ways to do this. I just give you one example. You could cut out your squeeze page altogether but I do not recommend this.

  • If there are 10 fish in the pond, and 100 fisherman is that a good ratio for you? And what if the other 99 are experienced fishermen?

The point is to find a market where there is more opportunity.

How can you tell people how to make money if you have never made money?

Over and over and over.... the biggest mistake first timers make is picking the Wrong Niche.

It would be like you playing 1 on 1 with Kobe Bryant. The first thing you have to do is practice, practice, practice. Then if you have a natural talent and you gain experience you can work your way into more competitive niches successful. Otherwise you are just wasting your time.

CEO's don't start at the top.

Pick something you know about, that has a sustainable market, and get some experience.

Thanks for the response guys and stevie the illustration is perfect!
Just to clarify also i just used the making money as an example. I would definatley not attempt that as a first timer for the very reasons you mention IQ.

Think you need to be real;ly confident in what your doing to take that beast on.

Inregards to the legal side of the business and our sites etc, with affiliating i assume we would just need maybe a privacy report for the site but what about a disclaimer or t's and c's??

Is there a normal practice of dealing with the legal stuff that we can implement ourselves or do we need a solicitor specialising in web matters?
