Okay - What do I need to do? Website question!

Apache/2.2.11 (Unix) mod_ssl/2.2.11 OpenSSL/0.9.8i DAV/2 mod_auth_passthrough/2.1 mod_bwlimited/1.4 FrontPage/5.0.2.2635 Server at mynewdomain.info Port 80
I bought the domain name today, and assigned the DNS servers with namecheap.

I created the domain addons soon after and uploaded the files for the site.

My question is this. Is the domain still to be resolved? And is that why there's nothing there?

Sorry for the silly question but I'd like to see this site up and running asap.

Thanks in advance.

Brian

If you see that - you dont' have a valid index file uploaded to the root directory.

Thanks for your reply. I appreciate what you are saying, but can I ask if I should really wait the 24 hours for the servers to kick in (not sure of the technical term ).

I edited the index file on my PC okay, so I don't understand about an invalid index file.

      Thanks again.

        "created the domain addons"

Did you by chance install a phpBB forum and is this forum at the root of your domain?

If this is the case it is likely a matter of setting the permissions on the folder(s).

If you are seeing that message, then your domain has resolved. You just need to upload your website files.

Sometimes is takes 24-48 hours to fully propagate the net, however in my I almost always can see a new site/domain immediately.

Did you upload the files into the proper directory? There should be a "www" folder or a "public_html" folder. If you have both, upload to the public_html folder.

    Good luck!

As mentioned above, sometimes you can see your site in minutes, sometimes you have to wait 24-72 hrs until the domain/hosting info propagates throughout the web.

By "valid index" I meant an index file type (html, php, etc.) that your server recognizes as index in a directory.
Also, make sure you uploaded it to the right folder.

My only concern is that there's a a cgi-bin folder that I haven't a clue about - Sorry to sound naive. I've upload a few websites and I'm sure I haven't seen the message I'm getting on the domain.

About the cgi-bin folder, I wondered if it might have something to do with the message??

Your cgi-bin won't have anything to do with what you are seeing. It sounds to me like an installation error.

There are a number of folks here that are having your exact problem which is why I asked about the phpBB forum.

I screwed up the Addon domains When I had filezilla open I renamed the directory because it had a .info at the end. I hadn't noticed that before so I simply edited it.

That's why I was getting the error. I was looking at the public files and noticed that I had two directories and the one with .info at the end didn't have any files so I uploaded the files and it's working okay. So I apologise for being stupid and not noticing it when I should have.

        Thanks again to everyone!

No the CGI bin wouldn't have anything to do with it. If you want, PM me the domain name so I can see what it looks like from here.

On many servers that (cgi-bin) is a standard setup, don't worry about it.

What are the "domain addons" you mentioned in the OP?

My experience has been that "Name Cheap" takes a lot longer than "GoDaddy".

With GoDaddy my domains are usually resolved within a few minutes.

I have a different experience with Namecheap. I buy all my domains with Namecheap and they propogate within minutes.
