Hi.

I'm publishing a community cookbook -- you know the ones charities and churches sale? It's coming out around Thanksgiving.

I'd like to know if any of you have some ideas or methods to selling these books? I have a long list of ideas but could use many more.

Thank you in advance.

make it available to different "groups" i.e. boy scouts, girl scouts, rotary club, etc. etc. to use as a fundraiser

join different groups in facebook, grow relationships, and sell in the forums and groups...if you don't mind taking your sells outside of local community.

  • Those type of books are great for charities looking for money making ideas. You could decide on what you need off of each sale, and propose it to local churches, my brother did this and did very well with it.

He profited over $10,000 for himself, and the charity received the same.

    I hope that helps.

If I were to try to sale the book to a charity -- how could I reach them. Would a simple call to the director be enough?

I've heard of people going around and selling booklets in bulk to other companies as a wholesale element... I just haven't seen a guide on how to do it.

    Any points of resource?

    Thank you all so much!

One option is to make changes to your cookbook to meet the needs of various groups of people - some of which meet in support groups. For example, people needing gluten free foods, people wanting to lose weight, people who have had weight loss surgery, people needing a low sugar/carb diet, etc.

In some cases, you may can make a deal with physicians to include your cookbook in their after surgery/diagnosis packet.

Of course maybe you wait until the original version gets going but if you plan to go this route, you can go ahead and start planning your route.

Here are a few ideas where you can sell it at:

    - Flea market
    - Amazon
    - Local high school finance directors
    - Half.com
    - Boys and girls club
    - JV with local business owners (grocery store owners for example)

    Good luck!
