I need to start creating my reality, I have posted many times to this forum just trying to get a good understanding about how I can make a decent income. Ive decided it would be smart for me to get a job even if it is only paying 10-12 dollars an hour but I want to get a job where I consistently learn something new everyday! Knowledge can change your life!

My question is about how I can start making money on the side as well. I like knowledge based products that help improve peoples life!! I have thought about creating a course, ebook, work books, how to's, and assessments. I guess I'm looking for somebody who as created an e-course and can help guide me threw the process. I have 2 solid ideas I'm ready to launch today. I have plenty of time to make these a success!! I know I cant get rich over night, I need to make a lasting change in my life and I think that will come from somebody who's been there before me. If you have created a successful product please reach out, any advice will go a long ways. I read every comment and seriously want to learn.

Thanks for the help

P.S. - Im only 18 years old so my job is to raise money to reinvest into my current ideas! I've decided not to attend college

P.S.S - The average solo non employer entrepreneur makes 42K per year and the average employee earns 52K. A mentor can shape the next few years of my delicate life (I understand the importance of a mentor) I can't do it all on my own. If you're willing to take the time to help me I'm willing to take the time to learn everything your teaching and not waste your valuable time!!

The men who manage money manage all!! I have an investors mindset!! I spend money to make money

Identify solid demand in the online marketplace before you choose the subject of your e-course. Look for problems that need solutions (badly), and common wants, needs, and desires.

Then create your course around those things that many people are telling you they need and want.

Sell into that demand that is already being expressed in the marketplace.

Don't create a product before you understand (well) exactly what people with money are asking for.

That's the best advice I can give on how to get started.

    Steve

p.s. If you already have some experience, training, education, hobby, or other "advantage" over the average person, that may be a place to start checking for demand. Your learning curve will be lessened in the marketplace.

    Ok, great question!

Well I would start with the basics of internet marketing... Choose a product you would like to sell... Then, master the traffic and list building.

You need a crowd of people that will buy ____________ (whatever you want) - traffic
Now you need to learn how to say it right, so people click on your products (copywriting)
You need to build your list and save their emails somewhere (actually I wrote a book about this, you can get it in my signature)

Eventually, you should be able send your crowd an email and sell them your products.

You invest into list once and you have it forever... if you treat your list of customers right! which isn't hard to do...

I hope I could help you with your question!

    Good luck with everything! Cheers!

Steve above shared a valid point you need to identify a solid demand in the online marketplace.

    AverageBro,

At only 18, you appear to have more going for you than most people walking through the WF door. The danger is that you'll make a bunch of wrong decisions, blow a ton of money, and wind up one of the people who "should" have made it but didn't.

Please take my advice: Put your money away.

Forget mentors / coaches. Forget membership sites. Forget WSOs. Forget all of it. The only thing you need to spend your money on is the basic, fixed requirements to setup and run your business.

Some of which include the following:

    1. Domain.
    2. Hosting.
    3. Wordpress Premium Theme.
    4. aWeber / Get Response (for your newsletter list).
    5. The odd WP add-on.
    6. A little cash for any necessary Fiverr gig purchases.

I would usually advise against a newbie, especially one more than half my age, getting into product creation. However, you do appear to have the writing chops for it. In fact, forget the "appear." You write better than most people behind the products I've read recently. (I'm an avid collector of information). I would, indeed, go the product creation route.

I would say a lot of what you need to know can be found on WF and elsewhere for free. The rest you'll learn by taking action and learning from your mistakes. I work in this field myself and we have tons of others who do so, too. If I were in your shoes, I'd do this:

    1. Take the above advice.
    2. Always come to WF as you've done: having done your research, being willing to put in the effort, and never asking for everything to be done for you.
    3. And treat WF as your collective mentor. We're free.

Just some food for thought. I'm busy as heck today, but I glanced at your post and, at only 18 and already ahead of the new entrants here, you strike me as a chap who deserves some solid advice.

    Cheers,

    Tom

Going to throw this out there...

Are there any direct response companies where you live you could try to work at? No matter what level, how good or how bad it is - it's be a amazing way to get an insight into Direct Response Marketing - which would put you way ahead.

You really got me thinking so I decided I would try to contact the biggest local direct response marketing company in my city. AORDirect is by far the biggest and best that I could find, I have the CEO's contact info and just need to create a solid pitch for why I'm a perfect fit for his company. Thanks for the advice, I definitely think direct response is the way to go!

  • I don't think that people sign up just to get an e-course any more. There is enough free information on the Internet that people don't need to sign up.

You need to think about an alternative way to get people onto your list and signed up for paid training.

If you're 18, you're lucky. You can try several things about over six months or a year without any risk of becoming homeless if it doesn't work out.

If you're still looking to hire a mentor to guide you through creating your own products, just know that they are not cheap.

I have a mentor who I've recommended to others who are well on their way to creating their own product.

Only thing is I'm not sure if she's still accepting new personal coaching students - because she isn't one of those who disappears after she takes your money, and coaching her students takes a lot of her time.

But if your'e still interested, I can definitely ask her if she'd like me to recommend you to her - just let me know.

One last question - the products you want to create - are they based on your own experience/knowledge?

"One last question - the products you want to create - are they based on your own experience/knowledge?"

Everything I currently have in mind is based on my own experience and knowledge. In the future id love to be an investor in ideas rather than the creator. I want to be able to scout the best idea in a few hundred and run with it.

I would add one more thought to this mix. Someone above mentioned first finding a product and promoting it.

    WRONG.

Find the demand and traffic FIRST, then find a product to fit it. That's the way to be successful in IM. People spend all their time and effort marketing products and services with limited audiences, and never get anywhere.
