Open Office ebook help !!???

Hey all I am working on an ebook for a client and I am working on the table of contents. I want to have the chapter titles in the Table of Contents link to the chapters in the text. For example when you click on Introduction in the TOC it will jump down to the intro. section in the text. Can someone please help this ebook newbie out.

Thanks for the help all.
Kevin

    1. Select the text you want to be the hyperlink (ie the line in your TOC)
    2. Choose Insert->Hyperlink
    3. In the dialogue, choose the Document icon to the left
    4. To the right of the Target field, click on the bullseye, then choose the target heading from the document tree to the left

This should make a hyperlink to a point in the same document that should by rights work in the resultant pdf

    Hi Kevin,

I think you need to highlight the section you want to link to... then up to the task bar > insert > section > OK.

Then you'll need to highlight the relevant heading in the TOC, click the hyperlink button (just above the align left button) > Document Tab > press the target icon underneath the target in document heading > click the + button next to sections and select the relevant section.

    Hope that helps,

    Tom

The easiest way is to have an automatic table of contents to be generated. This way your pages are also automatically generated making sure you don't make any mistakes when you add or delete any pages.

Have a Table of Contents page with just the page title, delete everything else from the page.

I'm assuming you have finished the book, but if not use these details for each chapter.

When you come to Chapter One, you will have in your toolbar

    Default, Font Name, Font Size.

Highlight the words relevant to Chapter One, and change the Default to Heading 1

If you have any sub chapters, then use heading 2 or heading 3 etc

Do that for every single Chapter heading.

When completed go back to the table of contents page.

Go to Insert, Table and Indexes, Table and Indexes

This will automatically generate your Table of Contents based on the Chapters you have use with Heading 1.

This will automatically give the page numbers and hyperlink them to each chapter.
