I'm just wondering, I've been out the internet marketing game for quite awhile, and I would love to hear what some of the biggest challenges entrepreneurs are facing this year.

I'd say a huge challenge is to be able to continually adapt to changes.

The game changes everyday and you gotta stay with it or else you will lose.

The challenge in 2015 is get rid of the old methods and ideas and focus on the new techniques. But people who are writing blog and forum posts are still preaching the 2 or 4 year old methods.

I would think that more and more people are replacing time on their computer/laptop with increased time browsing on their phones. I believe this shift should prompt IM'ers to focus more on mobile device users.

I think the biggest challenge for internet marketers in 2015 is sticking with what works and what will always work. The game does change and there is always a new way to put your product out but those methods don't always last long. It's just fad after fad.

For me it has been consistency.. I make good money here and there but at times my income drops and stays low until I have a new product launch. I need to find that daily income to make my business more consistent.

I think the biggest challenge (and growing bigger) is finding ways to stand out from the crowd. The crowd of followers, imitators and me-too marketers continues to grow.

Originality, Creativity and Innovation is ... (pardon the pun) "Unique" in Internet Marketing circles for the most part, compared to in the past. The word R-I-S-K is a four letter word now, everyone wants the security of a sure thing - before they act or even research. Check out the majority of questions on this forum.

What have you done that works?
What's the quickest way to ...?
What's the easiest way to ...?
What affiliate programs should I join ...?
        What's a guaranteed way to ...?
I Want To Succeed but I don't want to do _________ tell me how?
What's the best Niche (do my research for me)?
        Etc.

When people ask those types of questions, scoot over and make more room for another follower, imitator and me-too marketer. Seth Godin, Marlin Sanders and Jay Abrahms must be shaking their heads in amazement now.

And my answer to you sir is as time goes by things change even though some of us remains the same. Yes the basics will be the basics.. but now you have what is called market dynamics...so all who are coming in the the market will realised the market will change to meet their demands....now for a few genius marketers, they have realised this and have tailored systems to meet the needs of these up and coming marketers.... and they are smiling all the way to the bank..Yes no one wants to fail and yes they want the quickest route to success... and they will definitely get what they want but the question is at what price? Now Sir you the seasoned marketer or guru as you might want to be called should know that the dynamics will bring lots of creative ideas to the market and the influx of want it quick lazy ass wanna bees will be the guinea pigs for the testing and retesting...

          Nuff Respect..

I think one of the biggest challenges we face as marketers is continuing to keep up with the times. Information and technology is constantly evolving and it is up to us to stay relevant. I heard one of the keynote speakers at a marketing conference I recently attended mention that even degrees are becoming outdated in less than 5 years. Scary stuff, let's keep on it!

TRAFFIC! It was and always had been the challenge in all these years and years to come. SEO is changing, IM techniques are changing, social media is replacing everything, Google and Facebook is having a close fight... knowledge upgrade is a must and always be in the watch! Without the precious traffic, there will be no customers, no income, online business will be dead!

I think the biggest challenge is adopting a more social approach to internet marketing. The whole thing started off and grew as a bunch of faceless and nameless websites that nobody is/was really sure of who's behind it.

That is changing more rapidly than most IM'ers care to admit. These days the customer wants to get to know the man behind the curtain more than ever before. IMO, that's why people like Pat Flynn, Yaro Starak and Jon Morrow do so well. They truly are "social" marketers and share themselves as well as their knowledge.

I like to think of it as "reality marketing", much like the reality TV phenomenon that's taken over the past decade of so of TV.

I seriously think this is going to be the new wave going forward and those who don't adjust are going to be steadily left behind.

Your assessment is real. One of the benefits of the Internet in the past was its ability for a person to do business without being known par se'. Now that's changing. Hiding behind user names, with symbolic avatars instead of a face is slowly going the way of the phone modem. Thanks to Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, and others - people are almost demanding to see a face/person behind a product or company now. At least there's an advantage to having it, as opposed to not having it. Consumers are being groomed for it, especially the ones under 30.

    Adapting.

Not just in 2015, in any year.

The rules of the game are constantly changing. Social media plays a huge part in today's internet marketing game and it's not just about having followers or shares, but rather engage with your audience.

What baffles me is that as more and more people come online to buy things it becomes increasingly difficult to sell stuff. Now that doesn't seem to make any sense, does it?

    Cheers

Good point. Adapt or Die is a saying that will be more true than ever. If you're a marketer who hates change you're an endangered species. The ones who can adapt to change will survive and thrive. The good news Adaptation is learned skill.

It makes sense when you consider not only are more people coming online to buy, but more are coming online to sell. And more are bringing their "A" game. Plus, the target is constantly moving.

In my opinion this really shouldn't be a Threat. Because from my experience a lot of these so called
"Seo Experts" are hucksters and scammers...so it should not be hard to separate yourself from these people who produce at best minimal results for others.

Like you said let your Results do the talking

id say the biggest change is your dealing with smarter more sophisticated end users and ultimately more skeptical, the internet is less of the strange phenomenon is used to be

most people have seen it and heard it all now and are slowly becoming immune to it (not saying it doesnt work atall...but its slowly being phased out)

you could send them straight to a squeeze page w/ a simple optin box , maybe a little lead magnet and it was job done, but even ad platforms like google and facebook are judging you on the content quality of the pages you link to (in most cases a squeeze page) so its not as effective

i generally feel likes its moving more towards a direct mail piece standard

I think saturation and downward pricing are variables of consideration.

You can go on Fiverr and get a novel written for $50. You can get coaching from gurus in any niche for a few hundred bucks.

Amazon prompts authors to price their books below $10.

Look on ClickBank, the top products are all less than $10 - $20.

With regards to saturation, nearly all markets are covered (and quite frankly stuffed) in totality.

Meaning your competition is stiff, and pricing at all time lows.

The only thing going up in price is the cost of marketing.

    :]

On the bright side, implementation has never been easier for an entrepreneur.

My opinion on this is poeple are getting smarter each day. Gone are the days of just being able to put something online. You have to have your end game in mind to know what direction you want your business will go.

Go take a look at the launch boards most of what I have noticed is all the software that is being sold each day. You probably have your inbox full of offers I do. I like software as much as the next guy, but it distracts from actually having to learn a certain skill set.

If you had the choice fire up a software or take a week or longer to learn a valuable skill which would you choose? Most would choose the software as a result, we live in a microwave society.

For my market, the biggest challenge is competition. When I first started
offering copywriting services, the number of other copywriters online
could be recited in one breath. Just earlier this week one business
owner said he received over 200 responses to an ad placed for
a copywriter in a closed FB group!!

Now my sympathies are with the business owners in sifting through
the chaff to get to the wheat. There are just so many ways you can
differentiate yourself from the next guy.
