You want sales don't you? The only traffic that works is targeted traffic.

A good way to get targeted traffic is to add good quality content. Do that and you will get more traffic than you can handle........and more sales.

Hi, if you really want fast and good quality traffic, use article marketing.

Traffic exchanges (TE) do not work as well as it used to when it first comes out. But they still work for free offers and sign ups.

However, if you are really keen on making sales, my advice is not to waste time on TEs (mostly people who are there to find traffic for their sites as well), focus on article marketing which is free.

In my personal opinion I had some great experience with posting a couple videos on YouTube and linking back to my site. The key to getting traffic from YouTube will be in the keywords.

1-Go to Google's keyword tool.

2-Find keywords around 1000 searches a month

3-Put together a short video that will contribute to your audience

4-Poster video on YouTube with a keyword in the title as well in the description linking back to your site.

5-Do this a couple times with a couple different keywords under a couple different accounts and you will be golden my friend

If you want to build a long term business however then you really have to look at building up your website and trying to get it ranking in the search engines. This may take a little bit of work, but if your persistent then you will start to get great results.

Anything that's truly worthwhile takes time

I found the above post a particularly useful one. Video traffic is one of the best available today. If you do it right, you'll be making sales before you know. Another great source of free traffic (already mentioned above) that has worked well for me recently is article marketing.

You simply write keyword rich and targeted articles with a link back to your website an submit them to article directories. Everytime some comes across your article, there's a chance they'll click on the link to your website. You have loads of these spread all over the net and you'll be building plenty of free backlinks (to boost your SEO ranking) and traffic.

Traffic exchanges are so lame, I can't even believe somebody recommended that to you. The absolute BEST free traffic you can ever get is with a joint venture partner, preferable endorsed.

If you can't do that, do SEO and/or article marketing. If you go this route though, you really really need good content. Like magazine-quality content. There is so much garbage out there, its just ridiculous.

Marketing costs money... so the free stuff will only let you scale so far.

I've had success posting flyers with tear-off tabs around libraries, colleges, college bathroom doors, grocery stores, and in local businesses (with their permission of course).

You can also look into having friends and family and spreading your name with business cards through word of mouth.

Could also see if there are any upcoming raffles and put a business card in one of the prize baskets.

Another technique is to post helpful comments on DoFollow blogs within a similar niche to your product or website.

Thanks so much guys, some really good stuff here. It's late her in Aus, so I'm going to have to get back to this in the morning. Personally, The best results I've had is with SEO, which still does not seem to be very competitive. I was though looking for fast ways to include into my membership in the Broadcast feature, where people can just quickly get the word out about their product. But, good stuff, will go over it again!

Yes, I've had some good JVs acutally, and come to think of it, I should look up those names! I had one of them contact me last week, and we still seem to have a good connection after well over 4 years. Now JVs are great for site owners, but what about the members, people who are just starting out...?

You've got to have something to offer the JV partner for it to work. They aren't just going to hook you up.

Thanks! Yes, this is true. Last time I did something as a JV, I first did some major promos to my list for him, then when he saw about a K in sales, he actually contacted me and I was able to set up a JV. I think that is a good approach if you have a list.

Start a blog, make videos, twitter, facebook, myspace, etc etc.

Just look for a site that has lots of traffic where you can interact with other users. Then figure out how to promote your site in a way that doesn't break the ToS.

Regardless of content or direct sales website... backlinks.

Backlinks from social bookmarks, articles, press releases, directory submissions, rss feed submissions, web 2.0 feeder pages... just about any backlink you can think of.

I cant take TE's its like a million people all shouting at each other and I don't think they work unless you are promoting money making programs.

Article marketing, good SEO, social bookmarking and social networking (myspace, facebook and twitter) ... all of these work after you do the hard work and reach a point of critical mass.

traffic exchanges make your stats look good and thats it in my humble opinion.

Forget about "quick-fix" traffic that comes from exchanges and crap like that.

Focus on building SEO traffic. It's not instant, but over time it's what really maes the money. It's free, it's targeted and converts better than any other traffic.

Remember that it's not about the amount of traffic. It's all about conversion and the how much money you make. 1,000 targeted visitors are worth more than 100,000 random visitors that just click away.

If i was building a business from scratch and i had to choose just one place to generate my traffic i would say it would have to be TWITTER.

Ive used it for many of my own businesses and for those of my clients and it has increased my traffic with the results that i would have only dreamed about before.

I'm a big proponent of video marketing. And, the search engines LOVE video. So, here's what I would do:

1. Create a video that provides value (be sure to put the URL you're promoting in the description)

2. Submit that video to all the video sites possible

3. Bookmark the video, using all the dofollow bookmarking sites

4. Post comments on dofollow blogs, keeping the URL of your video in your signature

5. Post replies to dofollow forums (like this one), again making sure the URL of your video is in your signature box

A lot of work? Definitely. But, if you do your keyword research, you can get your video on Google page 1 fairly easily this way. If it stays there long enough, you'll not only generate traffic, but you'll get quality traffic that's looking for what you've got to offer.

That's just my 2 cents. Hope it helps.
