Marketing for a beginner

I know nothing about hardware/software, but all I can say from looking at your link is the following:

1) Learn some copy writing techniques and rewrite the text - you need to grab the attention of your potential prospect and make them realize that you will solve their problems.

2)Is this the only place you placed your ad? Excuse me if I'm a bit ignorant here - but where are these ads displayed? (How does someone find it?) Are the people you are trying to target, the ones who come on here to find what they need?

3)I personally would never go back to this website - too many popups and things flying in my face, and I can't even concentrate on what you're offering.

4)Getting back to this website thing - if this is the only way someone can find your ad, I would suggest doing a paid ad. Gets you taken much more seriously. After all (the customer thinks), if you are a real business you would have enough money to pay for a real ad.

Again, you didn't mention if you are paying for ads, so I may be off target here.

Unfortunately, your results are quite typical for those type of websites.
There is a reason why the ads are free. Any site offering free ads is
making money from PAID ADS. Ironic, but true.

The people who are viewing your ads also know that you didn't pay
for it so maybe you can't afford to pay for ads so are not doing very
well. Your ad could be improved yes, but your main problem is
WHERE you are advertising.

This post isn't personal - I am not having a go at you - just trying to be truthful. I am describing what I see as a visitor to this page, and how I respond to it. I am sure your technical skills are great, but are you a marketer or copy writer?

1. I don't see a human face - who am I talking to? Who are you?

2. The advert is boring - confusingly it mentions all about autocad and adobe as well as gaming - it isn't targeted. It isn't offering a solution to a problem. The font is samey - the photo is dire and I wouldn't read it if I wasn't trying to help

How to improve it...I would ditch this ad - it will do more harm than good.

I would suggest you start a free WordPress blog and tell people about yourself and who you are. Email the link to friends and customers, and ask for testimonials from previous customers for your site. If you want to advertise you local Assembled PC service - I would use Twitter and Facebook tied in with your blog and your offline advertising.

My advice would be to build a PC and photograph it with you and your friend looking proud and smart and get some simple flyers printed. Not too many words...Pin them around the town and put them in the newspapers. Stick to one idea - say gaming - but say "We are also happy to discuss your personal requirements" Hope that helps...

I would advise anyone to learn wordpress and build their own sites. That way you can control the content and the ads.

Ok so..1) I understood that my ad's text is not good enough, the place where i am advertising as well.
2)The ad is more effective if i pay for it, isn't it?

how do i learn how to use wordpress?and even if i learn, i have to learn how to design a website.
And then, when i have a website? how do i advertise it?

Free ad site = usually pretty poor quality traffic.

"Tell five of your friends"...woah. You're saying you actually believe five people are going to hear from this reader, listen to him or her, and then go buy a new computer FROM YOU...

...just so the reader can get a new game?

Not gonna happen. Not in a million years. This set of circumstances is not going to occur. Like Chris Rock alluded to in one of his early specials, who knows if they've even GOT five friends. Heck, if a buyer got ONE friend to buy from you, that would be amazing.

So in summary...

> it's not clear what you're offering (yes, I know, a gaming PC all set up with a bow on it, but it's really not clear) and why the £45 price point is there

Market it on your own site. And target people who will be most likely to purchase your services. Advertising on a classified ad site as a true (business model)...(i'm waiting for Craigslist gripes)... is NOT sufficient!

Time for you to learn internet marketing.... not posting ads on classified ad sites. My dog can do that.

Yes having your own Domain is very important , full control, market your site start linking like articles, link directory, facebook ect, this will build up traffic for free, hope that helps

If you are going to use classified ads in London, stay away from that site and focus on Gumtree. If you want a second one, then use Craigslist.

All of your classified ads should point back to your own website, even if it is just a simple one to introduce yourself and get them to call you on the phone.

Agreed with Jeff, WordPress learning is best idea to control the website and running ads.

Go to Craigslist ... you would have far better luck.. Just saying..

My guess is that the traffic source is junk. You always get what you pay for.

If it's 100% free, it's probably junk. Either learn/pay for SEO or use paid traffic.
