I get at least 5 of these a day! If it doesn't say service@paypal.com it is a scam. Read them very carefully as 99.9% of the time the Subject line and email message are not proper English or there will be misspellings, a dead giveaway as far as I am concerned. Here is a perfect example...
      "Paypal <paypal@service.com>
      To: xxxxxxxxx@aol.com>
      Date: Wed, Jul 1, 2015 8:25 am

      PayPal

      Dear customer,

Spelled account wrong and paypal@service.com instead of service@paypal.com. Clearly a scam.
      I hope this helps

The intl addition would have sent some red herrings to me as I'm a very skeptical person by nature.

Secondly I only visit Paypal via my bookmarked link.

    But thanks for heads up.

One of the keys, besides those mentioned, to know 100% if an email came from PayPal or not, is that an email from them will ALWAYS be to YOUR NAME. They won't say account holder, friend, or anything else. They will always list your name as it is on your account.

If you're ever not sure about a PayPal email, just forward it to Spoof at PayPal.com and they will respond to let you know whether it was real or not. (They get a lot of these sent, so sometimes response does take time, but never more than 24 hours.) If you know how to capture the full header, send that to them with your forward.

If you know you've received a fake email, forward the email (with the full header) anyway, and they will take actions to shut down the website (which means you will be helping others who may be fooled by the fake email.) I sent a few over the past several months. Two that had attachments were returned saying those emails had viruses attached, so the lesson there is never open an attachment in a PayPal email - just forward it to PayPal and let them deal with it.

I always delete emails from paypal and then log into the actual paypal https site. I just check for any updates, account balance etc. It's the safest way.

I have seen a number of emails like this. Some are claiming to be from some sort of International Tax and demand a certain amount of money be sent to them. I delete them as many are filled with red flags (mentioned in the above posts). After the first one, I forwarded it to Paypal. They replied a few hours later and told me it was a scam. Not sure if this was mentioned in previous posts, but you can place your pointer on the link they send you and know it is a fake. In your repeater display, it will have a long url with only a mention of paypal in it somewhere. Otherwise I delete them.
