Needing some motivation... making a living from one website or more?

Ok, I am in need of some positive motivational stories here....Who makes a living (as in their sole income) from one website or from more than one? I sold a website that was earning me about £12,000 a year a while ago and have recently launched a new online business which, I have to say is a little slower to build than previously. Been live for 6 months, still making only about £1 a day!

I'd recommend more than one site. For the longest time, I made the majority of my income from one site (and from different free sites that aren't really around anymore), but then the traffic slowed down and certain products stopped converting like they did before. Now, I have a larger niche site (thinking about starting a second one) and a bunch of smaller sites. While I prefer building larger sites, it's gotten really easy to crank out smaller ones that start generating sales in less than a month or so.

Either way each successful website takes a lot of time to get right, I like to personally give a lot of time to a site when just starting off until it's able to generate more traffic on it's own.

Years ago sites had a way of finding people now it's a case of people not finding sites.(nearly poetic )

For me it comes down to where your traffic is coming from. If you are chasing organic traffic then having all your eggs in one basket (site) can be a bit of a risk if there is a methodology change from the big G or some other issue that destroys your organic traffic.

If you are taking a multi pronged attack then it's more about how effective and varied those approaches are, email list, solo ads, ppc, affiliate, social,

Even with a single site I find it can be worth having micro sites that help to build authority but can also be redeployed if your primary site takes a hit.

In terms of the question - can you make it from a single site - absolutely. I've done it in the past (as have you by the sounds of it). Personally I like to try split test and try different methods for different sites.

Good luck with what ever you choose.

Back in 2013, I had one website carry me through a major transition phase of me pushing hard in my own business to replace the income I was getting working in another marketer's business.

Why don't you launch a website just like the one you sold that was making you $12K/year?

Whatever you decide to do, your best bet would be to focus on getting one property producing good enough revenue and to the point where you have the system down and it takes you minimal time to manage - THEN you start another one and rinse and repeat.

I wouldn't aim for creating a website, I'd aim for creating a business.

I make a living online through my business, but my website itself hardly makes anything. It is only one part of the business.

My website, email list, my squeeze pages, my books, my courses, the products I promote as an affiliate, the network of influential people I've built, and more are all parts of the business that makes it what it is. On their own, those things are worthless. When you put them together, you've got a good system in place to achieve success.

Sounds like you don't need motivation as much as a different marketing strategy. Having success from executing the right marketing moves will motivate anyone. Besides, much of the motivation that you may get from here is based on a lie (Johnny really isn't making $75,000 a year but he is really good at making people believe he is).

What are you doing to market the site that is under performing?
