Has anyone promoted imageboards?

Hey guys, I'm new here

I have just created an imageboard, a smaller version of 4Chan, was wondering what are the ways of promoting and driving people into the website. It has adult content and such. I'd also like to monetize if after there is a solid userbase.

Thanks,
Dragonizm

Well I don't want to be the guy that tells you this will be hard/ won't work but you realize that 4chan makes no profit whatsoever? Even with somewhere around 13 million page views a day, 4chan can barley cover its own expenses. So if you want to make a living or even just a little bit of money from an imageboard that will need tons of bandwidth you need to have a serious plan to make this work, otherwise it won't.

PS- If you want to compete with something like 4chan then you'll need to come up with something to draw people to your board, something 4chan doesnt have. 4chan has an extremely dedicated community, just look what happened to AT&T when they blocked it for a a couple of days. And before that 4chan hacked the Time 100 most influential people list to make the creater of 4chan win, and they spelt out a message on the list. You need something unique if you want anyone to keep coming back.

    Good Luck
