How to market a national real world daily in a controlled market.

Makes me yearn for the good old days, when the internet was a frontier. Here is what I've got.

A daily publication with national value, in competition with horse racing's daily racing form.

Market tested for 7 years, and proven to the point that the horse racing industry hopes it never gets traction with the public. I believe that it requires a network for marketing on social media.

What is the best way to assemble that network, working only with the future value that the network can create? Which should be millions.

You might want to start by identifying influential people on social media that are into horse racing/track betting.

One of the easiest ways to do this is to use the free version of followerwonk

Once you have a 'seed' list of influencers, you can easily MINE their networks to find other authoritative social media users

From there, you can do outreach to get your network going.

That would make sense at first glance, as I said, there is no commercial interest within the horse racing that I haven't already approached over the past seven years. This market is monopolized by the race tracks, and others would rather tow the line than rock the boat.

The other problem is that I have a publication that can effectively dis-place theirs, even though there's is established since 1894. Although mine can be produced and distributed world-wide at a cost of little more than nothing, and a value of at least $1 a day to every race-goer, or bet from home customer, they already make more on the existing publications.

It's like having a gasoline substitute that you can sell, and be wildly profitable with, at a price of 35 cents a gallon.

I need a network of regular people, that is the much larger market that I want to approach. People on social media will buy, when other people on social media are using it to learn and win with.

My publication makes that possible, while theirs still prevents it.

Another problem... the "Authorities of horse racing" don't know much in the first place, take their racing form away, and they can't even look like they know anything.

    Is this a digital product?
I was looking at the "Daily Racing Form" web site. What have you got that is different?

If it is a digital product, then what do you need a "network" for? Why not just put it out there for people to buy?

Or, have you already put it out there and and the problem is nobody buys it?

I have a number that actually reflects the horses ability to win the race today. An example would be the recent Triple Crown winner, and most winners of major stakes races in N. America since 2011.

Ability-X Ratings is too good to be believed. That's why I need a network, people only buy what other people are buying.

Once a subscriber understands that it is the real deal, I get no word of mouth whatsoever. Think about that one, nobody in horse racing wants the other guy to know anything about winning.

It has been out there for 7 years Doug, in 2008, although the owners of horse racing liked the idea, the ring kissing didn't go well. Horse racing is a highly controlled market, and the horse racing media is completely controlled. That media actively calls me a con-man, flim-flam artist, liar, cheat, thief..... etc.

They get really annoyed when some guy from down the block shows up, trying to walk off with a million subscribers, with a better product, at half the cost, and without any ring-kissing. Although I did offer it to them first, and have the clip from the noon news to prove it.

This cat won't be easily skinned, it's going to take some creative marketing to get it done. At least that's my conclusion after 7 years of study, and "try it, you'll like it."

If you somehow were able to digitalized your product then it would really become easy to sell it on subscription bases, it might also work for you as a loss leader.

Another seeming good idea, maybe 500 simulcast centers around the country, you would think they would be happy to circulate to their existing customers, and circulate it to the larger market to advertise their facility. Which might be a sports bar.

But, at every turn, if it is a horse racing related business, you are asking them to surrender their advantage in betting against the public, which is a fine source of revenue right there.

No betting operator wants to inform the customers. If I could just get that to the customers, it would be a sales juggernaut. But, the customers believe the race track is doing everything possible to show them how to win.

This is how the horse racing customer is pre-conditioned.

I'm like the guy that invented Jello, that's why I'm here.
