I will now buy domain do them up slowly and start flipping.

Ive sold both of my sites at flippa.com

Wow, that is great. How much did the site made in the one month? How much traffic is it getting? How many of these traffic is organic?

I have a month old site to site that has already made $137 this month but not sure if I should list or wait a little more.

I found that your sites don't have to have income coming in to "flip" them.

      You can
create a site for a certain Category (Plumbers) (Leave the Contact info blank)...
      get a Generic Domain (PlumberInMyTown)
Call or send postcard to 10 or 15 Plumbers telling them the site and domain are available to the first Plumber that wants it.

How much would you sell something like this for if they did contact you back about your offer?

I have flipped many sites and my experience indicates that you have a much easier time if the site has had 6+months of revenue. Most people are suspicious if a site has been making money only 1 or 2 months. The question you as a seller have to answer is, "Why are you selling this site so early if it is making money?" Of course, if you are ranking already in the SERPS then you have a better chance of selling the site.

    Hi
Thanks alot for all the kind words guys.
To be honest I just looked around the flippa website to see what was selling - what people were looking for and what I could do to get buyers attention.

I thought I would try it out with a few .info domains and guess what I personally dont believe I would have got a higher price if i used a .com

I must have spent about 4 hours building the site and adding all the affiliate links - pictures and so on. the rest of the time was spent on offsite optimization.

I have many websites and build many backlinks. So i tend to mix and match my backlinks for all the sites.

I hope you dont mind the fact that I used your background. It was listed as a free download allowing full modifications to it - not saying that I done many other then change the footer links.

To be honest to all of you guys out there. If you are looking into site flipping then its a good way of making a few extra pennies. I personally found that I can make sites which generate money and this is what buyers are looking for. So I went ahead and jumped right into flippa. After all I was only gonna be loosing $20 if it didnt sell and the site had already paid for that.

As long as you are honest - make it easy for the customer to know how they will benefit from the site and have a little sales pitch then you gonna do well.

Go the extra mile if you can and tell the customer or potential buyers your future vision for the site. By doing this you are planting seeds and letting the potential site owners think of the future potential.

Anyway once again thanks for your remarks guys and if I can be of help then please feel free to keep posting here.

Oh yeh for the question above regarding pre-making a website such as a plumber site and then contacting plumbers then to be honest I wouldnt be able to put a price on it. It all depends how much time you spend on getting interested plumbers. If its easy to get potential buyers then you could sell the sites at $150 -$200 a site. dont forget if you are used to wordpress then it might only take about 30-40 mins to set up the whole thing. If this is what you are doing then go the extra mile and advise the customer that you will also give a free google maps listing with it.

If you are targeting certain city plumbers then it will not be hard to get them to rank on page 1 for the city. Long tailed keywords are the key to success for quick rankings. But its also in the customers favour if they can only provide plumbing services in their city.

    Best of luck guys

Ps I was looking through the warrior site sales section today and the sales look alot better then flippa. I mean have a browse through the site sales section on this forum and you will see many sites that have sold. Now do the same with flippa - you will still see sites that have sold but the warrior forum looks like a great place to start - even better still no final value fees just listing fees. However not to sure about the quality of the sites. I am thinking that the ites here on warrior have more quality or have a certain quality about them then on flippa. Of course you will see superb sites on flippa but you will also see sites that dont sell and you can see why.

one thing I must say that I have noticed is that 1 seller in particular on the flippa website sold a site within 6 days of registering the domain. The site was a shopping site designed through zen-cart and it sold for $800 - now that is what I call a very good flip - The flipper of the site used company affiliate feeds to fill the shop up with products and sold the whole package. No SEO work was done to it and no sales were reported.

Im fairly good with zen-cart and would love to give this a try. Just not to sure where I can get companies who will give me a product feed. The flipper of this site was based in America and was using an american company as an affiliate. Will need to do some research and see what I can come up with.

Would it not be better to hold on to it for say 3 or 4 months so that you could show that the earnings were consistant, and then sell for say 10 months rev?
That's what I was thinking. Or just keep it for even longer and earn the passive income while you make more sites.

Unless the OP didn't think it would continue to make $200 a month?

That was such a great post to ready. Very encouraging for newbies ... I've got a few sites that I think would be great for flipping and this has given me some ways to think about.

With flipping, do you generally set up the site with its own google account (for adsense / adwords etc) so that the whole thing can be handed over?

Kudos on the flip, abs007. I do share the skepticism of some of the other posters. (If the site was indeed making $200 a month. Maybe it took some work to make that $200, which may be why you wanted to offload.)

Hi All thanks for all your comments. A little busy at the moment but will try my best to answer all the questions.

Firstly this site was built to flip and I didnt want the hassle of all the seo work and consist ant backlink building. Dont forget new sites do the google dance and can take up to 3 months to settle.

Secondly the site was an incentive site so the money you make would go towards a gift for the customer. I was lucky as the customers who signed up have not come back and did not email me their details in order to participate in the scheme that I created. The website now has a tracking mechanism whereas before it didnt.

Its true websites with a 6 month track record of income will sell alot easier but ive proved to myself that this can also be a quick business. Look around on flippa - you will have websites which are only a few days old that have bids on them. Keep looking and you will notice a pattern with the sellers - many of the sellers have pre made themes and keep posting the same one over and over again and they keep selling.

As one of the posts mentioned above - you do not need to have any income to a site in order to flip it. Go the extra mile and show your customers the potential and where it should be if bought by the right buyer. dont forget many of the buyers could be great at SEO and could see themselves shooting the site up in the serps.

Many of the buyers use google adwords which will drive instant targeted traffic.

Its a good idea about setting up an adwords account with the site - your going that extra mile. Maybe even set up a few social media networks around the site and show your buyer work has been done.

      cheers

Good questions about revenue and flipping prices. You know, a lot of the time, it comes down to the fact that most people don't want to go through all the hassles of learning and building and just want to try a website.

Site flipping is started to peak my interests as I've got just a couple of sites that I'd love to flip to concentrate on new things.

once you start to get the hang of it you can build the site in stages and work on multiple sites at once. So for example

      day 1

      buy 3 domains -
get them hosted on your account -
use fantastico and install wordpress -
      hunt around for templates-
      install them-
Install the required plugins and customize footer and maybe a little css-
      Add your pages-
you would have already done your niche research in order to buy the keyword rich domains so write a few articles or outsource them to add to your site-
      monetize your site-

You could do all of that sometimes in a hour or so dependant how organized you are and if you have pre-prepped the contents. Anyway repeat and rinse 3 times.

On day one you would have already done the onsite optimization - it should start to come naturally while you write and create each page. So your site is more or less complete.

      day 2

Work on your backlinks - if you have a source from wherfe you can get high quality backlinks then its great - if you dont then sign up to angelas packets- they work miracles

if you have software such as senuke then its very quick to build a network of social media sites which will go along way when you go to sell your sites. Bookmark them and backlink the social media sites to.

repeat and rinse for all the domains..

Your done - maybe waite a few days or even a month then go and sell it.

Another way would be to wait and let the site start to earn some cash. get a bit of page rank then sell it - to be honest I have not tried to sell more established sites but im sure they will sell alot quicker.

But just say for example you done what I mentioned above and listed your sites for sale and all sites sold for $250 - thats $750 for 2 days work. Now if you done that for a solid month that like $750 x 15 = $11250 maybe a few sites may not sell so a realistic figure is around the $7000 mark a month.

Once you get used to it then you will be able to do 5 or 6 sites every other day. and the ones that dont sell can go up for resale later as an established site.

Abs, that's exactly what datafeed do. It's already embedded with your affiliate id. But when you download hte datafeed, it will embedded with your affiliate link and I'm not sure how to transfer/change it to the new owner id. Maybe you can just mass replace the id in the source code of your site.

Hi thanks alot - I can produce datafeeds through zencart but havnt managed how to add them. I have posted a few support questions on the forum but haven't really had any success. I think i will need to broaden my questions.

I think a SQL command would be able to replace all the affiliate ids- either way the customer who will buy the site will need to join the affiliate programme if they havnt already, so i will be able to use there datafeed and get it all personalised that way.

      Cheers for that though
