Recycling blog posts that bring the most traffic - Good Idea?

Hey guys,

I have written 3 blog posts that brings me between 5,000-10,000 unique visitors per month. My site is 3 years old and the rest of the articles get less than 1,000 unique visitors.

My question is, do you think it is a good idea to recycle content that is getting me the most amount of traffic, meaning re-write the articles with similar titles to increase traffic to my website?

How about turning the articles with the most amount of traffic and converting them to pdf's and selling them on kindle? I am not saying I will do this, only looking for suggestions.

The articles that get the most traffic, lots of shares on Pinterest but have zero comments, so should I re-write them to add more value?

My website is far from where I want it to be but I am committed to working harder and smarter than ever before.

What do you do with blog posts that get thousands or millions of unique visitors and shares each month? Do you turn them into videos, convert to pdf and sell on kindle, upload to as many document sharing sites as possible?

I would love to hear from you,

Thanks

Justin

I think you can update your old articles rather than recycle one. Updating old posts can create a good user experience and trust flow.

go for updating on expanding your article...its really a nice amount of traffic, since how long you are getting traffic from these 3 articles.

You might want to update them

Brian Dean talks about powerful ways to update content that draw even more social media shares and backlinks.

If you mean by 'recycle' update and 'improve', you're good to go

    Hello Justin,
I think the content that's performing well on your site should give you an indication of what's currently hot and what your audience might be interested more in.

Consider taking the articles that are doing well and running them via HubSpot's Blog Topic tool: HubSpot's Blog Topic Generator

This might help you find some more angles to write about on the same topic.

Also, if your content is performing really well on your site, it likely would perform well on other people's sites. I'm a founder and CEO of a site called https://ContentMutual.com which allows your content to be republished on other people's sites with permission.

You may include your author box and also you may even charge a fee on a per 1000 pageview basis. Syndication/cross-publishing like this can help drive you additional traffic to your site and get further value out of content you've already created

If you'd like to find out more PM me a few links to your content and mention this thread.

(We've recently moved to Invite Online, so in order to join you'll need to ask someone who is already a member. Good thing you're speaking to the write guy here)

For my best traffic puller I usually do the following:
    1. Update the content to keep it current and relevant.
    2. Create 2-3 supporting article around this central article. These articles are usually something that will enrich the main content.
    3. Incorporate the links to the supporting article within the main article.
    4. Package the main article as pdf and provide it as free download - To get more subscribers
    5. Package the main and supporting articles into a ebook, add some more meat to it, in form of inforgraphic, guides, how to list etc and sell it on kindle- to generate more money
    6. Create some how to guide, to do list, checklist around the main article, and offer it as download via Social Locker - to get more social shares, and interaction.

For the comments I would suggest editing the closing of your post, to include some open ended question, that will encourage readers to stop and comment on the post.

Great info noviceseo, I did think about writing more articles around the original ones to generate more traffic and shares. So that's what I am going to do as well as offer the main article as a pdf to build my list of subscribers.

I want to create info-graphics with how to guides but I'll have to outsource that.

Thanks for the tips. This should definitely keep me busy for the entire week.

As long as you are tweaking them and making them up-to-date with changes that have taken place so far, then yeah, it's definitely a good idea
