Which would you pursue between these options? (And why)

1 & 2 can offer you passive income once it's set up and running. Less hands-on. On the other hand - might be hard to make money and people to find you amid all the noise online.

3 - tied down to your shop - plus all the start up costs - but you might have a hungry (make that thirsty) market right in front of you

4 - "hoping" is the key word here - hope marketing doesn't sound very promising.

I've been thinking of building an arbitrage site.. It could be promising with enough work.

I think the shaved ice idea sounds really nice and could attract a lot of people when they want something to cool off with

What are the start up costs for something like that anyway?

Does McDonald's make the best cheese burger?

I would say no.

But they sure know how to sell the shit out of them and are familiar with the market.

The "best" is never usually the most successful/profitable.

But you still have to know what you're doing.

The "best" is never usually the most successful/profitable.

But you still have to know what you're doing.

"Best" can doesn't have to mean highest quality. It can mean fastest, cheapest, best branded, etc. etc. etc. But the point is that you have to be able to have some competitive advantage, some way to position yourself that makes you stand out from your competitors. The internet is chock full of average sites that make no money. To succeed you have to find a way to rise above the rest.

I'm a big fan of affiliate marketing, so I'd choose niche blogging (like the residual aspect and being able to work around my own schedule). Typically, people don't create a product in a niche until they've established themselves as a brand and have a following. I'm too lazy to be a service provider (too much like a 9-5 job), but I'm considering writing content (until things pick back up, things tend to drop off during the Summer).

Of these choices, which are you qualified to do and why?

What do you know about these markets?
What can you offer these markets that doesn't already exist?
How will you establish authority?
How are your marketing and sales skills?
Whats your budget?

I could go on forever...

But simply existing in any of these spaces won't do you much good if you don't know what you're doing.

Also, how can you expect some random person on a web forum to tell you the right path for yourself?

I think these are some questions you should answer first because when I read your question all I see... "is this dude is directionless."

I'd start with the shaved ice store and work on it for 1-2 years. Once it's stable I'd get into affiliate marketing. In the meantime I'd develop the web-comic as a hobby.
But that's me, I over-estimate my potential and multi-task. For example, right now I'm supposed to be working on my novel, building a portfolio of affiliate websites, improving social life, improving my song-writing and guitar skills etc.
What I actually end up doing is living in my sister's basement. So don't take my advice.

Once you figure out what you will like MORE (and you will), THEN you know you're going down the right path

. Forget how much you're going to make, just DO IT with a PROPER plan and execution of course. And when you show your PASSION, people will recognize it and the income will flow.

Ok, where does your heart lie at?

Look, if you love marketing? Go for that?

For ex. I like "marketing" - perfect..... that's my thing
I drill down:

What do I like so much about marketing??

Well, I like teaching marketing to people. OK!

Also I like "building a relationship" with a customer so I combine those.... and I get "list building"

So, I like "list building" and I learnt how to do marketing and I market affiliate offers to my list.....

Get it?

SO, find what you love and drill down, and then DO IT!

I know you can do it, it's a start but you will get there.... You have to find yourself...

I'd go with option #1, but it wouldn't be in the health/weight loss niche. Think incredibly smaller with your niche selections. For example, you could go into the:

- build a fish aquarium niche
- market your porn site niche
- scrapbooking niche
- pass the bar exam niche
- pass the police exam niche
- etc

And obviously you will need backend products for these niches also.
