Where do you put your blog, where do you put sales pages, optin pages etc etc

Hi how are you? Quick question about site structure:

What's the best way to manage these 3 areas? I think I should separate from each other!
  1. A blog where I have loads of videos and articles that end to "get this product or optin for this report".
  2. Members area where members who have opted in or purchased something can see their products or free videos.
  3. Marketing site. Where I have squeeze pages, pitch pages and send Google, Bing and affiliates to.
What would be the best way to do this? Subdomain? Keep everything under Example Domain

Thanks

Hey, I'd definitely keep it under one domain, subdomain or subdirectory is the way to go, will cut down your efforts to half that way since everything would be accessible from the same panel for you..

      Hey;

      I don't think that's the best way!

I am pretty sure it's a good idea to "hide" the blog from those who access pitch page etc.

I don't want to distract them with free stuff. These days most people know how to find the home page from a URL.

Do you have a sample of your site?

      Thanks

Definitely have them all under one domain name. For both the blog, marketing site and members area you can use WordPress (one installation for blog and marketing, and another one for members area - like example.com for blog and marketing pages, and example.com/members for members area).

For the marketing site you just use a optin/salespage service like LeadPages, OptimizePress or Instapage. They all integrate with WordPress, and makes it real easy to get started.

For the members area you can use a membership WordPress plugin like s2Member or aMember.

PM me if you need any help with this 1 on 1.

It is very interesting how strategies can vary depending on who you ask

Here's what I do which works for me

My rule of thumb has always been to use my blog as a hub site, where I welcome people and build Know, Like and Trust with them rather like a digital coffee lounge! I never pitch to people on my blog or ask them for payments, although I do have a page called Offers and Opportunities which has any Affiliate links for my auto responder and tracking software etc... this earns me some commission as well each month. I did reviews on this page of the software I use and why I use it..

I carry banners to my free front end offers in the sidebar and on other pages, and my opt-in form right at the top of every page of the blog - so it doesn't get lost lower down the page. It is the first thing people see on my blog in that critical 5 seconds when they arrive.

I create squeeze pages for my promotions that I charge for - and also for my free front-end offer. The squeeze pages are 'www - my domain/squeezepage.html' so that they are under the same hosting. I use names for my squeeze pages that people can't easily work out. Names like 'Squeeze Page 1' and 'Squeeze Page 2' could be easily cracked and everyone would find them without opting in etc. But if I call the 'Desdemona2+7' that should slow people down a bit lol...

All my downloadable videos and eBooks are also stores under my domain. You Tube videos are uploaded as unlisted to slow people down from finding them without opting in. I am actually about to start hosting my videos more securely now as the business has turned a corner, and the video products are better produced and more valuable. You Tube is a great place to learn about video hosting and embedding etc...

    Hope this helps
    Richard
