How do you guys automate

Hello

I was wondering what software you guys use to automate some of your marketing.
Or maybe you automate other things of your business.

Is the software free or paid?

Thanks in advance

So I use an email autoresponder. Such as aweber.

When someone subs to my list, the responder is set up so they get a preset email each day.

How many emails in total do they receive?

I automate whenever I can and whenever it makes sense. Most of it is with web making/monitoring software, however I fail to see the significance of whether it's free or not. Why does that play a role? Enlighten me, please.

It doesn't matter that much but if it's free and working wel I might be a bit more interested in using it myself. Also, for other people who would see this it might be more important if its free and they might start using it themself

Why wouldn't that be important? If I were looking for a way to automate tasks, the price tag coming along with it would greatly influence my decision.

Yeah -- Sorry about that. For some reason, when I read the original post, I thought it was for research purposes. Have no idea why.

Podio crm with Zapier to automate mailing.
Imacros to automate simple webtasks such as account creation/deletion and site monitoring. Have even used imacros to auto-purchase items that are in high demand but low supply.
Ubot for when I don't feel like using imacros or if imacros is encountering problems...like when setting up virtual offices.

I use a Clickbank rss feed generator I just wrote combined with a forum mod to accept rss feeds. I like forums as opposed to blogs since a forum will treat feed posts as separate posts thus I can also automate posts to Twitter, Facebook, sms, and LinkedIn

Automation can reduce your work load / labor cost. I try and automate most tasks that are performed frequently, unless it requires complex human thought and/or creativity that is beyond the ability to program or cost effectiveness and even in many cases, I will still usually create programs that a person can run to automate the processes that can be automated.

Agree with Diabl0. A lot of repetitive tasks in various fields(such as IT security) are automated but monitored by humans to make sure catastrophic things don't happen. Remember the time when Captcha 1st appeared on account signup pages? a lot of blacklisted IPs were had if you didn't update your software haha

I agree somewhat with you though. Automation without a system can be disastrous...but a hoax? not even close. even SOME complex tasks can be automated, the more complex the more maintenance and costs that come with it so you have to ask yourself.....Which is better for the task in question systems & outsourcing or automating?

Listen to Highway 55. He knows. I think what he means is relying on automation too much or hoping, as a newbie marketer most likely, for that Internet Marketing fantasy, is a hoax. It's phenomenal how many inexpensive tools there are today to HELP make running your business easier. They are tools toward that end, not the end in itself.

I guess in a broad sense it could be.

You use systems to organize your tasks. Then you teach those tasks to VAs. But you still have to QC the VAs. Who's going to create your content? Who's going to come up with the ideas for new content? Of course, you could hire a content manager. And a project manager to oversee the content manager...

        The list goes on...

I believe the OP was asking about automation tools (even though it was clearly stated). Which is where the response of my first answer originated.

LOL Yes, the OP clearly was wondering what tools automated "some" of their business.

Without any automation, you'd have to collect emails and reply to each one individually. Yuch!

For a full-fledged automation system---it accepts a prospect, records his/her email address, walks the prospect through a description of the corporation, explains process to make money [three income streams], provides the prospect opportunity to opt out or sign up as a rep---check it out at larryscell.com. There is no requirement to explore this system and walk away. If you wish to try this program out, it is permissible, but not required.

The automated system is used by every rep in the company to show interested prospects what is involved. Members of the group are not charged for using the system. If automation is a hoax you'll have trouble convincing the top user of the system who tops $1,6 million annually.

This post is for information only and is not an attempt to recruit.

Hey everyone, I am the Owner of ParadigmRPA, we are an "Automation Provider". Every task someone needs to complete has its associated processes. Essentially we automate the processes that are necessary to complete computer oriented tasks.

      First

I personally use a mixture of several IFTTT accounts, Hootsuite, and our own Automation service. IFTTT and Zapier are both pretty powerful systems for "immediate automation" without very much conditional logic.

I use IFTTT to mass distribute blog posts to the social media website options provided within the IFTTT channel/recipe collection. I use Hootsuite to schedule tweets, facebook posts, and Linkedin posts throughout the week. I also use Hootsuite to mass distribute to relevant Linkedin groups that my article may apply to. Finally I use Mailchimps RSS to Email creator so that any blog posts I had created that week, will also go to my subscriber list.

This may sound like Spam, but keep in mind, that to the user they may only see one post because of the channel they are using. I have a top down view of distribution, and the user may only have knowledge of the content in their one channel.

We haven't dabbled yet in Marketing Automation, but we are really excited about getting into it with ActiveCampaign.

      Second

Automation never replaces customer service. Rather it Augments Customer Service. So whatever channels you may be using to distribute your content, you should be active on, ideally. I have seen the best results that way.

      Third

Originally Posted by Highway55 View Post

False: Systems enable businesses to properly utilize Automation, and Automation is the new Outsourcing.

      Fourth

You cant automate an entire business for free. It will cost you some money. The most affordable option however starting out is IFTTT. Also invest in reading The Emyth and Getting Things Done. Both of those will really help you create centralized business systems that are more automated.

Automation is some thing every business should look into.
CRM tools are great to initial setup. Autoresponders is some thing to start with.

But even more important is to remain productive while using day to day tasks. I have seen people un-oranized when it comes to getting passwords of their FTP , affiliate account. They spend time searching. Sending work to outsourcing team promptly on time. Spending time on skype or email very effectively. Not checking email more than 3 times a day.

You can save lot of time, without investing lot of amount.

I automate my flow from landing page up to autoresponder.... I'm using sendlane.com

Automation with free tools is possible to a certain extent.
Back links or site promotion come to mind in this case.

Google alerts is free to use and if you have a site like ex; "Golf Shoes For Sale"
you can add keywords related to your site into Google alerts and every time something new comes online about golf you get an auto alert which gives you the opportunity to get a new related back link through commenting on those sites.

Or you can take it a step further.

Create an infographic on Canva for free that relates to that persons site and put up a quick page on your own site with that info graphic and a little bit of content that they may not have added to their own site.

Send them an email - Let them know you you like their site and that you created an info graphic related to their information - could be something like "10 Ways New Golf Shoes Improve Your Swing"- If you ever get the chance to check out my site that would great. Feel free to use the info graphic on your own site if you like.

I have just given them a way to improve their own site with out being pushy and get a back link or at a minimum my info graphic with my website details promoted on their site.

It's not full automation but it works and it's free. Making a decent info graphic takes about 1/2 hr or so and can be faster using free preset templates.

I wasn't going to elaborate but maybe someone here could use a new way to find decent back links with out to much hassle.

In effect I am using other peoples software for free that they continue to update and I don't have to go looking for back links as the leads are sent to me for free.

You really need a separate Twitter account for business. With it's mobile functionality it's a great 21st century replacement for an email list.

      Seamless Integration

A typical home has many systems in it. These can include whole house music, intercom, distributed video, networking, security, lighting control, heating and cooling systems, cameras, pool and spa control, gate control, etc. A home automation system ties all of these systems together so you can interface with them from one point of contact.
      Simplicity and Security

With custom programming, you can automate all kinds of things to make your life simpler and make your home a safer place. For example, custom programming can allow events to happen based upon other events. A fire code from the alarm system can cause the home automation system to tell the lighting system to flash your exterior lights so your home is easy for emergency personnel to find. The fun of custom programming comes when you are ready to relax or entertain and pressing one button starts a whole sequence of events. For instance, setting lighting scenes, starting music in the appropriate rooms, and telling landscape lights to stay on late since you're having a party.
      Complete Convenience

A complete home automation system includes and communicates with all of the subsystems mentioned above. Any single subsystem can operate independently in a well-designed automation system. By using wireless touch panels, wall mounted touch panels or keypads, and even iPhone or iTouch, you tell your home automation system how to control all of your subsystems.
Designing an automation system that meets your needs is a process of discovering how you will use your home and what is important to you

Yes I agree with most of the answers, automation does save time, but it should be under proper observation.
After all not everything can be automated.

Few popular social media Automation tools are

        Hootsuite
        Buffer
        IFTTT
        etc.

Also I believe for email marketing, auoresponders are a must

        Aweber
        GetResponse

Both of these have 30 day free trial.

Also 'listwire' is the best free autoresponder!

Anther one is Mail Chimp, but I am not a big fan of it as it has too many restrictions.

        Hope that helps

Automating can be the easiest way possible to do marketing, but it is so impersonal. Try engaging your customers differently so that they understand you are focusing on a good relationship.

Automation is not a hoax and it is not impossible or impersonal..

But you may need to redefine your definition of automation.

Automation is doing the work once, then being able to simply monitor and tweak, and know that you do not have to be present for it to keep running.

That should be the goal of any real business.

As one person mentioned, it has a lot to do with outsourcing and/or hiring people (whether contractors or employees).

But mostly it has to do with using the internet to set up an automated sales funnel that brings in traffic, puts them through a sequence to take them from lead to customer, and then follows up with them on an ongoing basis.

That's possible for any business. Of course you'll have to build, test, and tweak your funnel. And as you grow, you will probably need to outsource or hire to free up your time...

But that's what a real business is!

Once you have your winning funnel set up and you find a great traffic source that converts, you need to scale up and let it run. Then you sit back and monitor the process.

You may need to have real human interaction with people to close sales, depending on your industry. In the beginning you do it, then as you make enough you hire others.

And of course you need to stay up to date and keep creating new content.

The goal of automation isn't to never work again. It's to not have to do the same thing daily for your business to make sales. You get to keep focusing on improvement and the next step, because you're business is running and pulling in leads and sales on autopilot already.

That's automation, and I can tell you firsthand that it's possible

Automating tends to create problems when the tasks you're trying to automate require updates, and the software developer who created the tool you're automating with doesn't update anymore.

The lesson I learned was to duplicate. Duplicate parts of yourself into other people so you can keep the wheel moving without dealing with software updates.

IFTTT.com - lots of options to automate many different social posting tasks
WP plug-ins such as : WP Robot, NextScripts: Social Networks Auto-Poster, Tweetily, etc.

Also, hiring an outsourcer to write (or re-write PLR articles) for me, and then schedule the articles to post 2 or 3 times a week on my blogs, up to 6 months into the future...

    And Aweber of course.

This is a similar lineup to what I use.

RSS feeds and mixing RSS feeds can be really useful and save lots of time when creating content.

I also use IFTTT extensively, it is possible to automate so many useful things with it. From social media posting to content gathering to backing up your personal photos to Flickr. I love IFTTT for many reasons.

The best way to automate your business is to use tools like, PLS (build unlimited capture pages and email campaigns) aweber & mailchimp (building your list and autoresponders) Using these types of tools will help you and give you more time to concentrate on marketing your business.

There are plenty of things you can automate with software and those software will fit, depending on what you're trying to promote and how you plan to promote.
    1. Email marketing - mailchimp
    2. Sales automation - infusionsoft, hubspot, intercom
    3. Traffic / tracking management - Trackingdesk (obviously)
    4. AB testing - optimizely, convert

A service that i found very powerful and that enable us to spare countless of hours for integrating third party services is segment.io

    Hope that helps.

Automation for your business really takes a load off your shoulders. I use Aweber a lot to provide instant response to my customers.

Although there may be other free services out there that may look tempting, i would not recommend it if you are planning to use it for a business that you are serious in. I have heard of cases whereby free autoresponders were shut down overnight and people lost their entire database of clients. Definitely not a situation you want to find yourself in....

    Autoresponder
    Hootsuite
    Buffer
    IFTTT
    WordPress Plugins

Start by jotting down each step as you do a project... this will create a system that you can follow and tweak as you go. Next, consider what you might be able to outsource to a freelancer or VA -- or what software or templates that you can create to SIMPLIFY the whole process....

You can now handover your "step-by-step" project sheet to an assistant to have it all done for you.

Number #1 tip would be use a autoresponder to follow up with your leads. That is true automation. It's paid but well worth the investment for the long-term.

Can anyone recommend a tool to automate tracking and and A/B testing? I've been launching test LPs, and looking for a convenient (free, if possible) tool for that. What about AdsBridge maybe? Will it help?

    HI,

Basically there are tons of tools out there now that help to automate your business, or at least help reduce the time you need to put into your business. Some are good, some not. It is just a case for works for you and your goals.

Like nearly all Internet Marketers out there I use the email auto responders like Aweber, Get Response, Mail Chimp etc. I use Get Response as that's what I've got used and I find it easy to use.

Alongside that, I have a couple of webinars I've set up and I've found using something like WP Webinar integrates with your autoresponder so you can constantly remind people who sign up to your webinar before it starts increasing the chances that will join.

And, although not for everyone, I outsource so repetitive tasks, or tasks I'm not skilled in can be done by other people for me. I've found Phillipines and India to be the best workers.

    Thanks

Haven't seen anyone mentioning PostRSS. It is great alernative to auto share the entire content straight to Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin and Vkontakte. You just need to add your RSS feed to PostRSS and you will get automatic shares to social networks. You can easily change options as maximum posts per update, publishing order, message format and posting frequency. Also, you can choose date you want to RSS to start feeding from.

Obviously this really depends on what were talking about here, but the stuff you mentioned is garbage. You seriously think the results you get from some program are better then a real person? By the time you set it up you've already lost money. Show me an automation tool that's going to produce content that ranks, emails that convert, or robots that run my ad campaigns. You need people to do the things that matter, not automation.

Edit: I don't consider stuff like autorespoders be automation, to be clear. But a system that created the sequence automatically, I would.

Really ? You set up a 300 day Follow Up sequence why would that not be considered
automation ? ( after you complete it and start running it with a List that is )

Somebody wrote all the mails, the AR just schedules them. It's very basic automation, but do you consider cut&paste automation? I don't, it just saves time, it's not a completely automated system.

I was a member of aweber for almost one year but sending a single member. But it is really a world class service provider.

I mean to say first you try with few free one and then move paid services, when you know that you are ready to use this services regularly. Not like me.

    Hey there,

My main source of automation is my autoresponder, it is my baby

Depending on how big I want to create the business all depends on how intricate I setup my autoresponder.

For example, if I just want to create a small business, maybe to teach someone or something I just create a followup series that shoots them off a couple emails and ends in an affiliate product.

Meanwhile if I want to grow a big company, I simply create the squeeze page with the free offer and all that, then after signup I might upsell them on a small product right after they subscriber (instead of having a "thank you" page I have it redirect to a sales page with my offer). Then I can have the followup series direct them valuable emails and once the autoresponder is finished I can have it automatically redirect them into my daily newsletter and once I have a couple hundred opening the daily newsletters I can create a Facebook page or social media page for that company then once both of those are built up and super active I can launch a product in that niche and promote it to my audience and use them money I make from the launch to come up with a rebilling payment product and then I can outsource people to automate my social media page and newsletter for me and focus on expanding the business that way.

So it really depends, like I said my #1 automation is an autoresponder and I'd say #2 is using the money I get from rebilling cycles to automate my "hands-on" part of the business with people.

That's just my take on it though, it depends how much effort I want to put into the business, but both work great

    Have a nice day!

    Adam

Here are my favourite Auto tools right now.
    • I automate my social media through Buffer.
    • I automate my link building using Menu27 and, as of today,
    • I am automating my additional content (when it makes sense to do it) through a free online spinner.

Oh, and I also automate all my logins using Last Pass.

  • There are many great tips in this thread, but the single best thing I ever did was to quit thinking I was a one-man army, and to start outsourcing my 'templated' work. Outsourcing frees up a LOT of my time, allowing me to focus on the marketing, itself

I took a week and built a number of sites for my service businesses, and the order emails go to myself and my VA automatically. All I have to do when I receive an order email now is to send my VA his payment.

For what it's worth, multimedia autoresponder messaging has worked better for me in my business than simply using email. It used to be problematic because you had to use two or three applications to get the job done.

I have spent the last 4 years having developers build the perfect autoresponder for me. We are nearly ready to release it to the public (January 2016), but are currently beta testing. Our autoresponder will deliver email, SMS, MMS, and voice broadcast messages through the same message sequence.

If you would be interested in a beta test account to take a test drive and check it out, visit our home page and sign up for the questionnaire.

There are many options available when it comes to automating different areas of your business, automatic emails are one. Carefully analyze your business and see if certain tasks cant be automated.

You can easily schedule your emails with your autoresponder.

There is a no need of paid email marketing software. You can start with mailchimp's free plan. You can't create an autoresponder sequence with mailchimp free paln. but, you can schedule your campaigns with mailchimp.

The top two ways I automate is through iMacros and Clippings:

    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/fir...s-for-firefox/

    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/fir...don/clippings/

Both of these firefox add-ons save me a whole lot of time, and I highly recommend implementing them if you do a lot of repetitive copying and pasting.

    You can thank me later.
