Great Idea, now how to market

Hi, I have built a website around the stock market that is unique and that is a great idea. I have run it by a few in the market and they absolutely love it. It is a few days away from programming being finished and ready to go live. My problem is I know this idea is a home run, but my weakest part is internet marketing. How do I get this site into the eyes of the stock market traders and also college students that want to become traders? Any feedback would be great.

First congratulations on taking the plunge. But you've already made the classic rookie mistake made by most creative types. They create the product first and then look for the market as an after-thought.

You really should have did it the other way around. So, now you'll have to test your best market sources to find which responds the best (or at all) to your offer. In all due respect someone saying they absolutely love it and someone reaching for their credit card and buying it is miles (sometimes planets) apart.

There's many places you can start testing, but I'd start with Facebook. It's one of the best ways to start because you can "exact target" the type of prospect you're looking for. But a word of caution, make sure you read their Terms of Service and they allow your type of promotion, "Stock Market" Products. They're getting VERY particular about what they'll accept. Make the wrong move and you could get Banned for Life. When in doubt ... ASK before you place an ad.

    Good Luck.

I can almost guarantee that if your product is not marketed well it will never be a home run.

These days of saturated markets, savvy and skeptical buyers, and fluctuating economies makes successful marketing quite difficult and rarely does a product "sell itself" as so many owners hope.

You'd better get your marketing act together quickly or your "can't miss" opportunity will be gone. Smart marketers are already well down the marketing path with promotional partners, compelling publicity and other pre-launch preparations that are in place prior to the launch date.

"I know this idea is a home run" sounds to me like "hope marketing." Now go out and prove me wrong!

There are alot of great products that works GREAT. But not every great product is a product that a particular group of people wants.

LOL i tell you, if this is a "home run" product, then the easiest form of promotion should make money for you. For example, if you want to see how the market responds to your product, put it up on PPC (adwords and bing) and see how it does.

I just dont want you to get attached to a product just because it's great and something that everybody needs... and not necessarily want. Dont waste time on a product for 6 months only to realize that you've spent thousands of dollars on something that just wont sell successfully.

        great suggestions right here.

Most of your online products will fail. I'd say 80% of the time. That doesn't mean you fail... just create, optimize, test. Repeat until something is a winner, and then scale up as fast as you can.

Steve B, always great to read your replies - short and to the point - and usually with some harsh reality. Love it!

@Manny11001 - if you've already built it throw some traffic at that thing. Create some investment angle ads and see how it converts. Once it converts you can relentlessly pursue affiliates in that market.
