Generally, they don't. They target wannabe internet marketers who hope that buying these products will magically turn them into marketers themselves. While there are some sellers who provide software or services that would be useful to existing marketers, most "internet marketing" products are designed and targeted to appeal to the BizOp crowd.

Your thinking is a bit skewed.

As someone with an extensive healthcare background, I have attended a lot of workshops and training seminars conducted by other professionals in my particular area of practice. Why? To learn new methods, techniques, etc., and to broaden or hone my own skills. And those seminars and workshops weren't free; in fact some were pretty expensive. I also have a small fortune invested in books written by people in my field.

IM is no different. There's so much to learn, and no one knows everything. There's always room for improvement and opportunity to learn new skills and techniques.

I understand the point you're trying to make, but learning from other successful marketers is smart. If you have something to teach (I'm not talking about the self-proclaimed gurus who prey on the naive with their useless courses), then why not sell your knowledge (via coaching, books, courses, etc.) to those who want to learn from you? It doesn't have to be your primary focus, but it can be a nice additional income stream.

    Hi Antonio

I have to question exactly what you mean exactly here?

As you say "Plumbers don't focus on other plumbers." but they do focus on people who need good plumbers. So they target their advertising towards leaking faucets and burst pipes.

My products are educational videos and eBooks all about how to improve and expand your business.

So I aim everything at those people. They are the ones who subscribe to my list and go on to make purchases. They are all either marketers hoping to improve what they are already doing, or people wanting to become successful online marketers in the first place.

I deliberately target these people in all my promotions. In actual fact, I target them down to an even more specific group than marketers, with a particular age range, income and lifestyle.

You also asked "So why would a person with Internet marketing skills make selling to other Internet marketers their primary business?"

Well they wouldn't of course. They would be targeting people who want to learn internet marketing. Slight difference but all in the wording. Like targeting emails to the right people - all about writing the most accurate and persuasive copy we possibly can.

    Hope this helps...
    Richard

Is it your primary business? Looking at the WSO in your sig would seem to be the case. But maybe you - like others - sell MMO stuff here but sell outside the IM market outside this forum???

Selling to other IMers is profitable as a main business for some leading IM names - they sell 'how to' - and 'let me do it for you' and 'fast, easy money' and coaching and various products . They are selling 'tools' to internet marketers - and some of them make big money doing it. Some of them only sell dreams - but there seems to be a big market for that.

If you take Internet marketing skills to a different niche, success is much easier.

I'm a male prostitute and I would love to be sold by a female prostitute.

Maybe we would be able to barter.

So if i take an ugly 71 year old granny who wants to be an AVN pornstar, and tell her to start out by making "homemade" movies of herself, and then market them on her site... her dream of becoming an AVN pornstar is highly likely?

I don't mean to put words in your mouth , but do you mean Money Making Opportunity Marketers selling to Other Money Making Opportunity Marketers?

Because when you say "Internet Marketers" that covers a lot of skill sets (and growing). And would make natural sense for a person who specializes in email marketing to teach another who specializes in SEO marketing, who in turn teaches another who specializes in PPC and they sell their keyword software to a internet marketer whose written a niche marketing course then he buys social media coaching , etc.

In fact, I'm not sure I'd want to buy a product or service from a person who didn't know about or wasn't involved in Internet marketing in some way. - Especially, if I was an internet marketer looking to improve my business ... would you? An outsider (I call them civilians) couldn't relate to me as well. I'd have to educate them more before they could advise me.
