This may sound harsh, BUT, hosting services are a dime a dozen, and people are more likely to go with a reputable and more than likely cheaper company like GoDaddy, Bluehost, etc, etc.

There are heaps so you have a load of well established and well known competition so you need to take another angle. Offer something unique, maybe offer web design and offer the hosting on the side, which you can always mark up.

When you say you bought the right to sell hosting services does that mean you have a reseller hosting plan? What kind of hosting services are you offering and are you targeting a specific niche/market? Check out the WHT forum webhostingtalk.com

I'm not sure what you're offering, but I know that HostGator has an affiliate program. Are we talking about the same thing?

Yes it is a reseller hosting plan, and i want to get more traffic to it, i know that i have a big mountain to climb, but i want to take this chance and see what can happen, i know that there's a lot of major corporations like this, but i think there's also a lot of people every day looking for hosting plans etc. and i figure that i can maybe get a little peace of the pie, and see if i can get a little bit of cash flow, maybe not much, but at least, a little bit of extra cash, i think that there's room for every one in this market.

Hosting revenue is probably the best recurring income model that exists, because people who sign up rarely cancel if support is good and if their sites don't have too many down times or server problems.

But Jack107 is correct that you'll need some kind of angle to get a piece of the pie, and you'll need really good marketing, period.

My opinion is that where most today are failing with hosting reseller services is in trying to appeal to everyone. Where the focus should now be is in catering to specific business types with hosting and hosting scripts (or complimentary web app partnerships) and/or services that can be applied to the needs of the business type targeted.

So with Restaurants, for example, you could position your entire hosting toward providing restaurant themes - and only restaurant themes - mobile responsive, mobile advertising, reputation management, a variety of ready to use plugins for coupons, social media contests, restaurant Facebook pages, etc..., and outsource some or all of the services, structuring your setup fees and payment plans to include or exclude these services.

Businesses prefer one-stop solutions. That's a fact. And once you have them in the door, they'll pay you more for other services simply for the convenience. And the more targeted the initial offer and marketing, the more likely they'll choose you over the general run-of-the-mill hosting operation.

I second what Joan said. She worded my reply 100 times better but that's the sort of thing I was trying to get across.

I have a friend who has been successful in this exact strategy except they targeted heavily the hairdressing niche.

It is a good angle to take. I have even personally thought about doing so with local sporting clubs.

I would post in Warrior Forum Classified Ads and make it good for Warriors so they will purchase from you , also I would put a link of your site in the sig with a catchy bi line to get them to click the link.
