How many upsell offers is ideal to have? For info products

I have few websites in my local country where I sell info products (books primarily)

One website is for dating advices the other is for health and yoga advices.

My question:

Lets take the dating website: I have in total 6 different products there and a bundle of them 6 on a discount price (and thats the most expensive of all total 7 offers).

What is the best way to structure my upsells so the final upsell is the Bundle.

For instance Product A --upsell--> Product B ---upsell---> Product C ---upsell---> Product D ---> Whole Bundle of All

OR just one upsell and the second to be for the bundle?

Your proposition?

In my opinion it's better for the user experience to only have 1 or 2 upsells.
You don't want to piss people off before they even get to using the main product they bought.

I would do it like this:

Product A: The main thing they bought
Upsell 1: Something that enhances Product A, maybe this is Product B?
If yes, continue to delivery of A & B
If no, offer them upsell 2

    Upsell 2: A discounted bundle of all the other products B, C, D, E, F, G
If yes, continue to delivery of the bundle
If no, continue to delivery of A

That's just my 2 cents, ofcourse I have no idea what your products contain or the best way to combine them. But I hope it helps a bit to spark your ideas.

Yes I agree. It looks better and professional that way.
As I think it would probably piss them off if continually up-selling one after another.

      I have another question however.

Should I upsell or cross sell? (I know i typed upsell in title thread of this post, but I meant both upsell and cross sell).

So for instance I start with my lowest price product - lets say it is 10$ - should I upsell to something that cost $20 or just cross sell to something that costs $10 or less ?

I'd say that cross-selling is always a good idea when you're talking about books/reports.
You could use the "Thank you for your purchase, people who bought this book also liked book X. Check it out!" technique on your delivery pages.
Just look at Amazon, the masters of cross promotion!

I just found this thread from a couple of years ago.

Basically answers the questions I had.

          Thanks though.

If you (or someone else) also have another idea - please share

          Cheers.

You'll get your answer if you test and track results. It's the only way to know if your system is optimized . . . or if you're just "winging it."

Yes you are right, but what should I test.

I don't want to deliver bad customer experience and at the same time my goal is to sell my most expensive product (which is the total bundle of all products).

I'm just trying to figure out where should I put the offer for it.

As many as it takes to hopefully reach your goal.

If you have strong copy it will probably take less and weaker copy it will probably take more.

I have tried up to 3 pre-sale (shopping-cart) upsells and do quite well with them and have also done upsells on the thank you page - in the post-sale case I typically experiment with offers and even test sending referral traffic which has worked well on different occasions.

16 upsells seems reasonable to me! No no no I'm kidding, I myself wouldn't have more than 1 upsell and maybe 1 downsell.
