Looks like the ERA of Make-Money-Online Courses is reached and End in 2015

No major launches! aka google sniper etc
no new breakthrough SEO product launched
Number of cheapo-scam products also reduced
The Mega Launches seems less now...
Is it the MMO guru crowd moved to some thing else?
physical products or investing in startups?
Or are internet startups like Uber the in-thing now?

I am curious as the general weightage of MMO industry has reduced hugely in this year!!
Adsense extremely useless now ..
Adwords made more and more difficult with the new Final URL changes!
SEO ranking is slowly becoming a 5 year plan...:-)
hubpages, squidoo, ezine all out of discussion..
where is this all heading???

Atleast a sea-change in internet marketing since I have been following it ..
How is working out for the newbies nowadays?

typo in the heading-apologies

That's a good thing, though. Sure, there are legitimate products but there are a lot that are just preying on people that getting their hopes up.

But, go take a look at the WSO forums and you'll see quite a few people pedaling guru-esque products.

      Ridiculous assertion !!

People become successful and yes even rich by learning from others who have blazed a trail before them.

And YES many times this has involved taking Courses from these Trailblazers

Every time I see a thread about

      "Then End of . . ." or

      "The Death of . . ."

I cringe and wonder who is this self-appointed Internet grand master that is declaring something is officially expired?

Especially when I continue to see that thing occur over and over again online when it's supposed to be dead.

Just recently on this forum I have seen members declaring that the desktop computer is dead. I have seen members declaring that SEO is dead. There have been threads announcing that eBooks are dead, that article marketing is dead, that banner ads are dead, and yes, even that email marketing is dead!

Open your eyes people. All of these things are still an important part of the Internet Marketing landscape.

Now the OP is declaring . . .
      • No major launches!
      • Number of cheapo-scam products also reduced
      • the general weightage of MMO industry has reduced hugely in this year!!
      • Adsense extremely useless
      • hubpages, squidoo, ezine all out of discussion
I have not seen much change in any of these marketing strategies at all.

Sure tactics and strategies ebb and flow in and out of popularity over time, but to declare that all these methods have reached their end or death is to be very uninformed about what's happening in IM right now.

        Steve
I was going to say the same thing- just because the OP doesn't see it does not mean that the Internet is not thriving with new courses and scams.

But hey, what do we know? Maybe the OP looked at the entire 972 million websites that are online today to verify his claim.

I agree. I don't see there being a reduction in MMO courses at all. If anything, there are more and more product creators popping up all the time. Take a look on JVZoo and Warrior Plus and you will see MMO product launches just about every day.

I beg to differ. There's still plenty of launches going on, but just happening in different places. People make these pre-conceived rumors that certain aspects of marketing are "dead" when in fact they are still relevant to this day. Article Marketing, PPC, SEO, Video, Social media Marketing, etc etc.. are all still relevant in their own way.

Some people just have a different way of teaching that well...newbies (like myself) and experienced alike can understand. Of course there's still the crap peddling WSO to build a list on the low (even now I still think that's a pretty genius idea lol), but yea. As long as there are still people out there looking to make some money online somewhere, there will always be new products with the same strategies that are supposedly "dead".

Here are a few things the big time gurus are pitching now:

"How to become a highly paid consultant"
"How to create a software business"
"How to market on FB/ become a social media manager"
"How to set up a fancy conversion funnel" (which is basically advance tracking and email marketing)
"How to sell products on Amazon via FBA"

The gurus realize alot of people have been trying to make money online for awhile now and are starting to feel like their hopes of living the "internet lifestyle" and generating auto-pilot income is a dream that will never come true. In 2013, I noticed they began using webinars instead of product launches to sell business opportunities that resemble offline processes most people are already familiar with.

There will always be a market for how-to information, especially in the areas of making money, having more and better sex, and living healthier, longer lives. From Joe Karbo to the latest-greatest self-promoting "guru", how to make money in direct marketing, online or off, is a historically proven product category. The latest flavor may change, but the basic concept is timeless.

Then you obviously haven't been paying enough attention to the sales letter or video of just about every MMO product ever pitched.

Either you get the standard "hero" story: "I was living in a '74 Pacer and eating my meals at the mission until Mr. X showed me this neat trick the gurus were hiding. Now I hire people to wipe my butt. You can do the same if you just buy my stuff..."

Or you get (mostly) vague testimonials heaping praise on the results of some product that just came out 10 minutes ago, so the person making the testimonial has had zero time to tell if the product works or not.

There are still a few of the good guys out there. Jeff Walker just released a new video where he interviewed one of his product launch students. It rang true for me because both the results claimed and the time frame were reasonable. (Walker re-opens PLF once or twice a year, and I'm guessing from this video that he's leading up to it soon.)

Thanks John... that was a really fun Case Study to publish. It was a truly remarkable story. I love highlighting my students' successes like that.

We just finished shooting a bunch more Case Studies, and we'll be releasing them as soon as we get them edited.

And yes, I'm going to be opening PLF in about a month - the last time I launched it was last year.

    I sure won't miss them

I do think there is some advantage in a software or even a wordpress theme - but if you look at past sales threads the "guru" often leaves the building, stops support,no longer has a forum, doesn't answer emails and DOES NOT UPGRADE THE STUFF...ouch

A lot of this stuff is simply a rehash....I have to laugh at all the poorly worded "teespring" and "arbitrage" sales pages.

It is also sad to see the amount of people desperately trying to push their stuff right in the middle of a thread or directing others to their "sig line".

IMHO the worst offender are the ones that "coach" newbies to write their own "report" and sell it...the amount of misinformation they can bring is staggering....can't sell online...have no skills to offer in the real world offline...then write a report...yeah right

I posted about the sheerly cynical sales letter where a guru told his "flock"...to make their customers their "own private atm" by pushin yet more junk

truly sad. I think it may be an addiction tho - some people gamble or watch porn or eat bags of fast food...or get drunk...some people keep dreaming and trying schemes

On a practical note - the "system" (google) has wised up and matured so much of the quick fix seo stuff no longer works. By the time a "moneymaker" is written up for the masses I think it's "power" has already dwindled and the writer of the report makes a last ditch effort to cash in by selling a report.
Kindle has changed so that the ebooks have to have some value - ie, people have to keep reading.

Of course there is still money to be made - for people with real skills, real sales ability, real knowledge of a given field, real talent....but for those who keep buying junk that promises overnight success for the price of a wso - good luck with that. You will need it.

It does seem like there are fewer big launches going on these days, but I've also noticed that a lot of the gurus have moved to promoting stuff like binary options (something I have no interest in) or other things I have no interest in (like various forms of paid advertising) and such. Niche blogging works more than ever. The problem I see is few people want to put in the elbow grease and still chase the magic bullet mentality. Or they follow advice from people who have never made real money online in markets that have nothing to do with making money online. I know so many who are crushing it in niche marketing but they took the time to do things properly. Most courses just don't know the real tactics that really work.

Firstly, if you are actually aware how many people access the internet on a daily basis you would realize that internet marketing will never die out. Internet marketing is no different from doing a marketing campaign in the real life, except that the platforms we use are all virtual.

The day internet marketing goes down will be the day that the global economy actually tumbles into complete chaos. And at such a stage, everyone would be affected anyway so i wouldn't be too worried about which basket i placed my eggs in.

        I see 2 possibilities:

        i) attitude of the apprentice or...
ii) the method shown might not what the apprentice is looking for

the guru with the folding table didn't even bother to take the logo "divi" off his wordpress theme...he had a "review" video praising him....of a naked eastern european gal, long hair did cover her bod, green screen background...singing his praises with a heavy accent

There is still a lot of crap being peddled out there ,you obviously are not on any of any of these marketers lists. I have one email account set up for opting in to any of these things that seem interesting or may be helpful.
About 90 per precent of what I get sent are still get rich quick schemes but some times I get sent something useful. When I start getting too much crap from a particular marketer then I just unsubscribe from that list. I find it a good way to find out what is going on in the IM industry.
And also a lot of marketers seem to be using click sure and other platforms now and a lot are peddling high ticket coaching programs via webinars. I don't think it has faded at all they are just peddling different products and using different platforms to target different audiences.

I watch a lot of videos where some pretty useful guys is explaining how he worked with X or learned from Y.... that's what the big guys seem to do better than most. Alot of them took coaching perhaps more than training courses, but as I understand and from my own experience, you can learn bits and pieces from course.

I joined a course gave me some of the key basics to list building, I bought a bunch of other courses, they each gave me a little nugget here and there, helped me fine tune and get better at list building, and now I have a profitable system for creating and monetizing a list... nothing to brag about but it came from training courses.

I'd love to find a coach... but I struggle to find the right coach... I can't spot the sharks yet and can't afford those that aren't sharks... go figure... I always seem to be between places

Woah ..some really curt replies there.. :-) ,appreciate all the responses ,Well I agree I might be a bit unaware of the recent launches as I have unsubscribed from many a lists..but surely there were times when a huge number of people used to talk about a single product , e.g. Google Sniper first launch ,Market Samurai,SENukeX .That trend is most definitely down if not out.
LOL I am not smoking anything..just that I was not so much aware about any huge launch for Google Sniper 3.0 and I think if it is not being discussed much ,it might be that big a launch after all.

    Overall I get the picture.
There are launches happening just that they are not getting publicity as they used to get earlier .
The people have become more discerning.

And I truly believe the number of people getting in IM has reduced substantially for their own good.It definitely feels that way.
The over feeling is that IM is not EASY as the overall thinking used to be in 2008 09 10 .. SEO is extremely difficult .
I haven't seen many people tout adsense as the messiah it used to be projected a few years back .
Rather people have gone more realistic about it..You probably wont be able to make it big just by adsense .

Overall I feel this field has matured significantly in last 3 years ,and people have come to understand that this aint no cakewalk .It is getting as difficult as any other field to make a living from.

A lot of people who were launching products on the WF are now selling outside of the WF because of changes made earlier this year in their policies that no longer allow income screen shots.

First, thank you for thinking that anything is dead online.

The more people use the internet, the more relevant it becomes.

For years grocery stores like Giant, Safeway, Shoppers, etc were the giants of the grocery world. Now, they all seem to be closed down or found in run down neighborhoods. Does this mean that grocery stores are dead..... Not even close.

People just figured out how to do things better. This means the work is MUCH harder and time consuming. Harris Teeter, Whole Foods, Harmon's etc... have applied an evolved marketing method centered around people and have taken over the industry. You won't find them on every corner... because they take more to run, are heavily staffed, and provide consumers with the things they want while giving them the stuff they didn't know they needed.

So, is it dead? No, 'Gurus' are just not gurus anymore because business is no longer about 'What step do I take to squeeze every penny?' .... it's about 'How can I provide my audience with the things they need, while giving them everything they want.'

Fact: Internet Marketer's in general don't like hard work... so when something falls ... it's because it got harder.

MMO/Biz Opp niche is larger and more profitable than it ever was. As IM evolves, this niche evolves with it. It's a fabulous niche and when you operate ethically in the MMO niche it's not hard to distinguish yourself from the crowd of bad actors.

I have been in this niche since 2008 and have been doing the same exact thing since I started and my business experiences record growth almost every year. I simply build email lists of targeted leads and then promote appropriate digital products to them. It's not exactly rocket science folks.

I also got a kick out of the comment about how grocery stores like Safeway "seem to be closed down or found in run down neighborhoods." I'm not sure how one could come to that conclusion. My parents have a million dollar home in one of the best neighborhoods in Tempe and there are two Safeway stores within a mile from their home.

I often wonder where people come up with this stuff.

Quite a few seemingly butthurt and not in the "know" online entrepreneurs on this thread.

If you think it is "dead" or there has been a major decline of any kind you clearly have no idea what you're talking about. Then there is the assertion that all the "gurus" are doing MLM or similar, that is entirely incorrect also.

All of these assumptions are absurd and based on nothing more than being uninformed about the marketplace trends and what is actually taking place in the market.

The long and the short of it: there has been no downturn of any kind, all gurus are NOT flocking to MLMs and the OP has no idea what he is talking about.

Sounds like the op has only hear of CB. To me most of the Internet Marketing/Make Money Online products are on Warrior Forum & JVZoo. Seems to me most people are launching on Warrior Forum WSO section and then re-launching on JVZoo. I see tons of launches every week. Sign up to lots marketers email lists you'll see promotions everyday.
