Content Strategy For Affiliate Niche Site If You Don't Have Access To The Products

I am not sure if I posted this topic on the right category and If this has been asked before.

Basically what I am asking is what content strategy to apply if you want to build a niche site for the purpose of affiliate marketing.

Content strategy, I"m referring to various ways to create a blog post, topics or any content that is niche related.

How could you write content about a product if you don't have the real products in your hand, you don't have access to it because you need to buy them first in the first place.

I'm a wannabe Internet Marketer and trying to learn this stuff. I am planning to build a niche site that I want to monetize with affiliate marketing. Products from Amazon are my primary targeted products.

But how could I create a content for the products I want to offer to my readers if I don't have access to the real products.

Any suggestions?

Look at the product that you're wanting to promote and figure out any questions that you've got about it -- other customers probably have the same questions.

Think about problems that your visitors may have with it, and why they would want to buy it. Create posts that are solving those problems, and pushing those buttons. Help them make the purchase in other ways.

You can sort the list by best selling products and write 100 word blurbs for each, introducing the customer to each individual product and giving them a link to purchase (or read more reviews). Create a top 10 list with links to previews and what customers have said about the product.

If you absolutely have to, go through customer reviews and write your review in a "preview" type post -- if you know what I'm trying to say. You don't have to actually review the post if the rest of your site is somewhat helpful, just introduce the customer to the product and tell them why you believe it will help solve their problems.

You can create your own post based off the features from the product's sales page, and couple in a few reviews with a line similar to: "other customers said: " followed by a "read more customer reviews by clicking here" link that sends them to your merchant.

Don't completely fill the page with jacked reviews, but get creative about how you're delivering the product to your reader. Don't be an out-and-out affiliate, and you'll be OK. It's pretty easy to fill a site up with 10-20 pages of indexed content if you can get the creative juices flowing.

Exactly. Teach them how to use the product, and show them how it will help them.

Paint the picture in their head of having the problem then draw a picture for how your recommended product is going to help solve it -- regardless the brand name or product name, it works across the board.

But like I said, I don't have access to the products. How should I make a howto post? Where should I get my Images or Videos?

All of this is good advice. The important thing is to create value for the customer.

Approach the product as a "reporter". Since you should already be familiar with the niche you are operating in, explain the features in layman's terms and compare them to features of similar brands and models.

Use the images from your merchant's product page.

Take for example a toothbrush site. You don't have to review every toothbrush. You could show people with bad gum disease how one style of toothbrush is better for them than others, and then give them a few suggestions -- based on design features the companies already give you.

Create a post about the 10 best selling electric toothbrushes. Another post about how to get the longest battery life out of your electric toothbrush -- along with a few toothbrushes that have the best customer reviews in terms of battery life.

Create another post on flossing aids to help people dig in while they're out and about, without carrying a bunch of crap with them -- then offer a few recommended products to help out.

Hopefully that helps clear it up for you. You don't have to show them exact steps for brushing their teeth with a specific toothbrush, since you don't have access to the products. You also don't have to create fake reviews to make affiliate monies.

You can also do some research by visiting related forums-IE if your product is something like an inverter or a generator or solar panel-join some RV forums and camping forums Let them know you are thinking of buying this particular product -give the name of it but do not post affiliate links as you will get banned-make sure to thank every one for their input -and you might get some good and bad revues to use .
Make sure you re write their comments so you don't have duplicate content -- or you could set up a questionnaire and link it to a comment page on your own blog -make it a no-follow -no index page (ask the moderator first if you can place the link) this way you can use the comments directly by putting them on your product reviews -it would also be best to ask permission from the commenter if you can share this information.

That's a great idea. But when I decide to use the site with Adsense, I won't be able to get approval because of that.

Anyhow, much thanks for the ideas and feedback. Thanks to both.

not only writing, but creating images and videos to accompany your posts.

    content begins with your keyword.

then create images videos and posts around your keyword. It takes time, lots of it!

    best of luck,

I can see why you would have issues putting up product images, but I'm going to ask why are you reviewing products on an Adsense site? Those are typically information only.

      @Synnuh

I already have a running blog site dedicated to howtos articles. Now, I plan of setting up a specific category which should target a specific niche. I already did a research and results are good.

So aside from affiliate products, I also want to display ads on the site. So if possible, I'm not going to setup a page or create an article dedicated to product review. I was asking for a content strategy, and now I got it, you were suggesting to make a product review. This thing seems considerable, but I will have issues with copied products images because of Adsense policies.

@Tom Dean, thanks... I have a current setup like that.

Plenty of us have been down that road before you.
I'm sure you're thinking that you will be multiplying your potential to make "something" from each page. In reality you will be creating distractions and the end result is an overall reduction in the actual earnings from the site.

Some cooks throw pasta against a wall to see if sticks, telling them with 100% certainty if it is "done". A good cook focuses on one strand of pasta from the pot, pinching it between his fingers to tell if it is done.

Promoting affiliate products and AdSense on the same site is like throwing spaghetti at the wall.

          I got your point.

So I really need to separate an affiliate site from an Adsense site. Host them separately.

Contact the manufacturer's marketing or public relations or media relations (they all seem to call it something different these days) department and tell them you have a how-to site. Ask if they have any photos or videos available to illustrate (with source attribution) your articles.

Depending on the product, you'll be amazed at how helpful these people can be.

PS - ask them to add you to their press/media release list. You'll get lots of content ideas right in your inbox - new product releases, updates, tips, etc.

You can use AA links and Adsense - just don't do it on the same page. Save the adsense for pages where there isn't a logical product tie-in.

You could try setting up some google alerts for your products and get news ,blog post etc about them delivered straight to your google account.

    Worth a shot.

Ok, I understand that. However, from my experience, including Adsense onto pages with your affiliate links is a good way to drastically decrease the clickthrough rate on both types of ads -- cutting your clicks (and money) down quite a bit. That's why I asked.

    Synnuh is right.

Why would you want to intercept potential affiliate link clicks that could earn you DOLLARS with AdSense clicks, which earn you CENTS?

There's something to be said for being willing to invest in what you're attempting to sell.

An entrepreneur finds a way. And if you aren't committed enough to find a way to get the product then (i) why would a customer want to buy from you and (ii) just how bad do you want to succeed at this?

Try writing in to them. You can find an email contact for most affiliate programs, let them know you are doing some marketing for them and ask if they can provide you an review materials that you can use. These people are usually more than willing to help because you will be generating sales for them.

Alternatively you can try using google to search for more details on the product, type "<Product Name> + Review" into google and you should be able to get sufficient content to do a write up.

If these are high ticket products, consider getting first-hand testimonials and/or user demos from product customers. What I've frequently done (in addition to the post by John McCabe above) was visit companies using the products and doing videos on their usage applications. You can often get a list of customers willing to cooperate through the manufacturers' public/industrial/media relations department.
