Aged Domain search tool

Any tools that can search for expired/aged domains that I can pick up immediately where I can search based on a prefix

eg.

a prefix of iam-

iam-newbie.com
iam-bored.com
iam-hungry.com
iam-thirsty.com

  • Yes, ExpiredDomains.net offers this. Just visit the site and click the "Deleted ...Extension..." and you'll see a red 'show filter' link towards the top. You can filter by Starts With, Ends With, Contains plus a variety of other options.

    Keep in mind, those will be domains which have already been dropped/deleted. If you want to view domains that are going to be dropping/deleting over the next few days then you'll need to create a free account, login, click the "Marketplace Domains" tab at the top, and then click the "Pending Delete" tab to view those domains.
  • Thanks fpforum, as he mentioned, ExpiredDomains will give you all the search criteria you need to make a search, it's efficient too. I think goodaddy also have auction tab where you can catch some really good domains..

    In researching further I see that DELETED domains will reset the WHOIS record so when I register it will show as brand new registered, which is not what I'm looking for.

    What type of domain should I be looking for where I can purchase it but keep the WHOIS history intact so anyone looking at the domain will believe its been owned for a long time?

    • You'll need to buy a domain from someone that has kept the domain and hasn't let it "drop". Pending Delete domains show up as dropped domains after they expire and someone buys them. Nothing you can do to change that.

      People can see the history of a domain and check how many drops it has had, which normally indicates how many times it's been registered by different owners of the domain. And if you are the current owner, then it's easy to see how long you have owned it based on the time since the last drop.

      An aged domain really isn't worth flip to be honest - though some may argue otherwise. What matters with regard to an aged domain is if the website on it is also aged. An aged domain by itself is nothing.

      Not only that, but because so many websites that were on aged domains used backlinking tactics that Google now disapproves of, it's better in my opinion if you can get a new domain never registered before - the exception being if you can verify a solid, clean history of an aged domain.
