Technorati is by far the best blog search tool. No need to specify Wordpress at all, just the topic or keywords.

Technorati: Front Page

Also, Google has a special blog search section:

Use a Google search with your keywords plus site:www.blogger.com, site:WordPress.com Get a Free Blog Here, etc. to find blogs on the freebie sites.

Use Google Blog Search and do the same thing (works better for me anyway). Also, go to forums in your niche and try to find the bloggers there. Look for links in sigs and in profiles of frequent posters.

EDIT: Oh yeah, and Technorati - I always use it, but forget that I do because I just pull feeds from them.

There are better search strings to use than that but as far as software goes, Fast Blog Finder is good. I've started using my own SEO tool to do this now though as I can reverse the process easily.. as in, easily find out which blogs my top competitors have posted on.

There are various applications out there though so just do a search.

Here is the search string I use:

inurl:blog "keyword"

You will get something like this: inurl:blog "internet marketing" - Google Search

Hey Mark, you might want to find another one to use rather than rely on that way.

I tried it on one of my niches and it didn't show my blog and mine is one of the leading in that niche. PR 5 and another PR 4 and among the top 3 authority sites for my keywords and yet did not show up.

I'm not trying to knock you, just thought you should know that the results are not good with that one for some reason.

I only found out just now after trying these methods in this thread.

your method is not reliable either. Mine do not come up with yours. I don't have the word "blog" on my blog and I don't advertise for Wordpress. So there is no "Wordpress" on my site.

I think it is more important to find high page ranking blogs. I have been using Market Samurai for a week or so. Went from 9th position to 2nd with one blog comment after using MS "promotion" tab to select the correct blog.

I try searching for actual blog directories. Then I search for my blogs keyword within those. This works if you have a semi-common 'theme' to your blog you are searching. Of course if you have something like 'Making money in Russia for Red-headed step children' you might have a harder time.

You can also try going to sites like Reddit and Digg. Search your keyword, look at the articles that pop up, and go to the sites. Most of the time they are from blogs, and they tend to be ones related to the keywords from that search.

Check out Twitter to. Same as above basically. Type in your keyword, see people tweeting about it, check their profile. And 9 out of 10 times they have a blog.

I search using blogs then keyword as a manual way.I also tried fast blog finder free edition which gives me 50 blogs with every keyword.

Mark, I was not suggesting that the method you're using does not pick up high PR sites.

I was merely pointing out that it is not as accurate as one would think.

If I have two high ranking authority sites, which I do PR 5 and PR 4 that are NOT showing up using my niche keyword using your method wouldn't that be an indication that it is not as accurate as you would like it to be?

MY sites are blogs with PR 5 and PR 4 and they are not showing up so if James is trying to find as many as he can and if he were looking in my niche using this method, then he would not get all of the information he was looking for.

That's all I was saying.

I thought we were all trying to help him find the best method we could so he can get the best possible list of blogs in a niche.
