Best tool for creating forums

Hi Guys,

I got a new domain that I want to use to create a forum and membership site. I have used buddypress and bbpress before but wanted to know if there's better solutions for this.

Any pro's and con's of different forum tools around?

    • Your forum IS your membership site. I use Simple Machine Forum due to it's ease of use and flexibility. I design websites using it as well. There are enough mods to allow you to customize your forum. Built into smf is a subscription option. You allow public access to some boards and membership access to others.
