Are Marketplaces a good way to earn passive income?

Hello,
I was wondering about online markeplaces as a way to ear passive income because I didn't want to deal with stock. I started one but it proves to be difficult to attact visitors and buyers.

1) Has anyone had any success running a marketplace?

2) how long did it take you before seeing interesting income (ie 500 to 1,000 a month)

3) would advise to go for the usual e-commerce site or the pure blog?

Thanks in advance for your help!

So the "income" turned out to be the most "passive" part of this strategy, right?

If you remember the movie, Field of Dreams...
Kevin Costner was the only person that ever showed up, other than in his imagination.

I think the term "passive" is incorrect because i do put a lot of effort into it actually. But i was wondering whether anyone had any sort of success bringing in income running an online marketplace.

You can probably earn more passive income selling your services on big marketplaces as opposed to trying to start your own. Depending what kind of marketplace it is, there are likely already a number of big competitors out there which you'll have a heck of a time competing against.

Marketplaces are indeed hard to get people using. You'll need to offer some kind of perk to get people to want to signup and start using your marketplace.
