Ever get overwhelmed starting a new business?

I read A LOT here and I am so thankful for all the advice and ideas you guys provide! Seems like every time I come here to look for something I leave with a new idea.

A couple months ago I started working on a niche business idea. What started as a gift for a friend has exploded into a massive undertaking that I feel is overwhelming at times as I wade through tons of information looking for what I need to use and what can be skipped.

I knew nothing about the subject when I started this and the more I learn the more questions I find that I didn't even know needed to be answered.

I don't have a confidence in my progress so far. My site is up, pages are indexed by Google, Bing, and a China search engine, my service details and pricing are clear, and I am very competitive in my prices. I wonder if there is something I missed. I want to begin using FB ads but, ....I guess I'm just nervous about hitting the go button.

I have spent many hours checking out the competition to makes sure I had all my bases covered. Seems like I do. It is a completely unfamiliar territory for me. Or, was up until a couple months ago

Any of you guys ever find yourself in a position like this when starting something fresh and new? None of my friends are into creating online businesses so I don't have that resource to use as a sounding board.

It is OK. I did not know much about my niche, I just like it.

But you need to know the basic information. TAKE ACTION and you will be an expert of this niche soon.

I think that you need to keep up your hard work and wait. Gain and SHOW your portfolio to your potential clients. That is very very important for prospective client of you to know what your current clients think of you.

I want to make a strong first impression. It's the only one I get. I want my site to give the vibe that I can be trusted with the prospective customer's money. I am selling a high end service.

I will sit where I am a couple more days and see if I wake up in the night with a revelation of something I completely overlooked.

Last night after posting this and thinking I was ready to take on the world I remembered a huge area I had overlooked. Good advice on waiting!

It is common when starting something new and especially when the money is involved. If you believe in your business then go ahead. Just read two three guides on Facebook ads.

I am excited to try the Facebook ads since they are so targeted. I want to see what conversion rate I can get from such direct advertising.

And I am ready for this thing to churn out a few bucks.

I will take that advice and read more on here about using FB ads. Thanks!

Just make sure to stick to it for a period of time. I often talk to people who try something, don't get the results their looking for, and move on. In order to be good at anything you need to expect to fail in the beginning. Everything has a learning curve

Thanks for that John Moore. I will lower my expectations on the FB ads from the 'instant fame' to the 'lets try this' level.

Admittedly I was expecting a lot from the FB ads since they can be directly targeted to my niche audience and the service I am offering is something 90% of those in that niche are wanting.

Thanks for the heads up! I would have gotten very disappointed if I saw a low conversion rate. I will let the FB ad campaign run a couple months so I can get some good data from the results and if my response rate isn't ideal then I can tweak things and run another couple months.

Yea, I hear you on everything. Each time my buddy and I start something new - the responsibilities pile on and I've got to take a step back.

but you're doing well and embrace it. Be grateful that you've done something.

Now the next step is to push the go button. You'll learn a lot more from putting yourself out there for a month than reading for 6 months.

Learn to have iron skin. Don't take criticism too seriously and remember if you don't have haters, you're not doing much at all.

If you wanna know about FB ads check out jonloomer's site. He gives out more high quality free info on there than most 400 million dollar paid courses. He's the go to person for anyone who is anyone, about FB specifically.

    Make it happen.

Excellent advice! Thanks!! I naturally expect everyone to appreciate my hard work and see the overall picture as I do.

I have gone to a few forums targeting my small niche and was meet with hostility. I was shocked. My efforts to get to know those who are already in the niche failed and left me questioning the usefulness of my service. I am offering the service in a different way than the very few sites I can find who would be competition. My being so different is what they said was the problem. Non-traditional...

Then I talked to my potential customers in real life and every response was "You really offer this? How much? I want this!" Which is where all this started in the first place. The traditional methods aren't attracting any of the customers who, from what I can tell, are sitting there with cash in their hand waiting on somewhere to spend it.

I still wonder how I will accept the haters posting on blogs and bad press in general as I work to build a name on my own.
