Need help to come up with an idea for a new domain I bought

I just got my hands on a domain "imfreegifts.com" I just couldn't resist to buy it when I saw it was available.

No I just don't know exactly what to make out of it so I thought you guys could be of help.

I'm thinking of some kind of membership site which should have a free entry level but some kinds of upgrades of two.

Please feel free to come up with any idea I'm open for all feedback.

Cheers,
Sven

Membership site is great specially if you already have bunch of stuffs to giveaway but I recommend a free membership site for now. You can also just post all free items for everyone to read and download or allow others to post their free gifts as well, this way you can generate traffic and do some list building necessary for the future venture of the site. Another tangible idea is a blog with free downloadables or even a forum for IM free gifts.

Javisito, IMFreeGifts.com might sound attractive and great. But are you sure you really want to deal with freebie seekers?

I'm my experience, freebie seekers make little or no money at all for your business.

Go gotta think twice. Anyways.. since the domain is bought already, I could give you some advice here:

Only PPL offers will make you some money from a domain name like this.

Strategically add PPL offers to the site and your will be making some upfront money.

Bottom line: freebie seekers don't buy, not even when you sell your stuff for $1!

I know that very well and that's why I want to have a bit of a different approach to it.

What about creating a bunch of free gifts with done for you squeeze pages which I could sell to other marketers looking for free gifts they can use to build their lists?

    Sven,

Never buy a domain without the end use in mind.

Honestly, I've done this hundreds of times and in almost all cases it ended up a waste of money, a distraction of my time, and not worth the effort. We all fall in love with our own domains but most often we are the only ones that love them.

OK, having said that, and since you've already registered the name, here's my take on it.

Most people won't know what IM stands for so you'll have to concentrate on marketing at places like this forum or others where Internet marketers hang out.

One approach would be to become an affiliate of products that offer freebies. The freebies are the bait that attracts your prospect to click on the link at your site. I'm guessing this would only be marginally successful at earning you a few commissions.

You could also make a affiliate product directory site. You offer your own freebie in exchange for visitor's clicking on your product links. Again, you make a commission when the visitor makes a purchase through you product link. (I think there are better ways to make affiliate commissions).

Another idea: make a site full of IM freebies. Give them away in exchange for an email address and name. Freebie topics would all be valuable IM tactics and strategies. Put your affiliate links within the freebie reports, or ebooks, or what have you.

Well I did actually have the use slightly in mind but not being 100% sure what to do with it. I'm using my products mainly to build my list so I've been thinking of the track to use if for collecting emails as well.

I could always offer an upgrade to let other people submit their own gifts to the site?

      Cheers,
      Sven

You could lead people to your squeeze page with a free gift, then sell them on the product that you're offering in your sig. At any good opportunity in the sales process, offer them a free IM gift.

So the squeeze page could offer 1 gift, the sig in your email newsletter could advertise a different free gift, you could tie in a promotion for a ton of free gifts if they buy the main product your selling, and you could offer some free IM gifts for those who refer others to you.

But you have to create the referral page though.
