New Domain Name - Copyright Question

I am getting ready to register a new domain name and I have a question concerning copyrights. If there is a product on the market with a similar name, can I still use the domain name if it is slightly different. For example, if the products name is Quick Cam and I was going to register quickcamera.com. Thanks in advance!

I don't know anything about copyrights, so forgive me for my .02, but I cannot imagine that Quick Cam can hold onto the rights of every word in the dictionary that is similar to their name.

I can tell you though that it matters what you're doing with the domain. If you are selling a competing product in your quickcamera.com example, then you will be hearing from someone's lawyer quickly.

If you're using the domain for a totally unrelated purpose then there's a better chance of being in the clear.
