For a well-crafted articled by an industry insider, $150 is definitely a standard rate, although I've often seen rates in the $300 range.

We're not talking about 5$ articles written in 20 minutes by some dude in his underwear and a wikipedia tab.

Finance writing goes even higher. Some IM blogs pay $1k a piece.

Yup, I was paid three figures for scientific and testing equipment articles back in the day...

What's your marketplace...supply, demand...do you have any expertise?

Most people have nuthin'...so they get paid nuthin'...

I can charge more if I don't write in my underwear? Good to know

The most interesting part to me was the writer is STILL writing for the same site under the new owner. Didn't say what he gets paid now...

I tripled my income when I started wearing PJs.

      Coincidence? I think not.

Although it's sad that the writer didn't get his due . . .

I don't think he helped his case much because he
        1. Didn't get a written contract or some kind of written work order
        2. Didn't specify in writing how much each article would cost
        3. Let the restaurant owner off the hook by delaying payment
        4. Should have set up periodic payments or something that proved he would be paid
        5. Wrote nearly 500 articles "on good faith" which, IMO, is way to many before he should have demanded compensation
I can sympathize with the writer but I don't think he was very "business smart."

It's not worth it, Rose! Think about what you'll be giving up.

Oh yeah, Hi. I'm in Orange Park, saw you were in Fernandina Beach -- planning on moving out there shortly. [/offtopic]
