IM Newbie stuck in need of help

Hi Guys
I'm relatively to internet marketing, was wondering if you guys/girls could help me, as I am at that point where I am stuck, don't knowing where to go.

I have basic knowledge of building an online business:

- Picking a niche
- Creating a squeeze page
- Building a relationship with your subscribers
- Promoting products/help them get a desired result

I have a rough idea of how to put them together.
However the point I am really stuck, is at starting and putting things together. Ideally I am looking for a product or somewhere to go, that would literary take me by the hand and help me get started.

From what I see in the IM arena, there's a lot of product about strategies, like traffic generating, list building and all that, the fact is I'm just not ready for that yet.

Would really love to hear what you suggest.

Thanks

You can research about niche (keywords) by using "keyword planner".

Your post is a little vague on what it is you are in need of... But don't get too lost in buying a bunch of learning products right now, this will just distract you. The best thing to do is find a coach or mentor who can help direct you in the right direction. Post your questions in the Warrior search box above and research what warriors say in past threads. They have a ton of great talent here and trust me, someone has already asked the same questions on warrior...

I can point you in the right direction further if you need. PM me or hit me up on Skype p_petri

Much luck and success to you. - Pete

I'm kind at stage where I am going through to that information overload, so many different ways to get started and build a business online.
There's a ton of products out there and I really feel that sticking with one person over time, would generate more results.
If there's one thing I would need help with right now, would be identifying a suitable niche and researching that niche to see if it's profitable.

When I was starting up in 2007, I was also burdened with information overload. There's so many products out there teaching various method to make money online like aff marketing, Adsense, ebooks and ebay. My suggestion is to focus on one model only and stick to it. If you pick aff marketing route, you will take around 6 - 12 months to see result. I myself took about 1 year before making the first sale with aff marketing but 3 years to make steady income out of it. If you choose to sell your own products like ebooks, it will take longer and more hard work which not recommended if you haven't made a dollar online yet.

If you want fastest results, try offering services like graphic design or just writing articles. You can try fiver, upwork. If you like writing, I highly recommend that you go for iwriter. Some people are making 4 figures per month writing at iwriter.

Thanks for that, you've been a great, help, I'm pretty sure I want to go down the product promotion side, rather than offering services, that you suggested, which is great advice by the way.

I hope you don't mind me picking your brain again, however, would you say being an expert or having expertise in your target niche, is essential or not

If you want to write content in your blog and save money in beginning as much as possible, you need to know about the niche. You don't need to be the best but you still need to have general knowledge about the niche.

However, if you have money to hire people to write content in your website, then you don't need to know a thing about the niche. You just need to know the right keywords and products to promote. You can hire people at iwriter.com for $4 - $5 per article. You can also have articles written for much lower price at upwork but don't expect those articles to be high quality.

As for info about Wordpress, you can search at G for this:

That's really simple, let's not overcomplicate things here.

Just sign up for a free account at Clickbank.com and then do some simple research on the high gravity niches there.

That should be validation enough that there is sufficient demand in the niche and it is profitable. Selecting a niche is the last thing you want to get stuck on for weeks or months.

    1. Don't buy into the hype and WSOs.
    2. Don't jump into list building, PPC, solo ads and Facebook Ads yet.
3.Aff marketing, list building, SEO, PPC and product creation could be hard to some people. You might want to do services like article writing at iwriter.com to make your first $100.
    Read this thread:

    And also this one:

    4. Learn Wordpress and SEO. Always visit the search engine optimization section in this forum to see what works and what not in 2015.
    5. Target product name keywords only in SEO campaigns.
    6. If you want to get coaching, make sure that Warrior member has more than 500 posts here and lots of thanks.
    7. Make more posts here in WF and then post the link to your website here if you have one. Warriors can help you better if we know your website, your niche etc.

    Read this post. It's useful.

    Your doing good!

    You got the idea down.

Go out and find a good product that people really like and create yourself your landing page giving away your very valuable free information leading your prospect over to the sales page or even the direct payment link.

Also understand that the next step after you have done your research and have set and built everything is you need to start sending some targeted traffic to it and get yourself some numbers to build on.

IM is all a numbers game!

I reverse engineer everything when I put it all together. Build it backwords. After that I start sending visitors to my landing page and work on the conversion process. I like to see at least a 40% opt in rate but ideal I like to hit above 50%

After I got people optin in I need to see what they are doing as far as my free offer helping them out related to the reason why they optin in to begin with and funneling them over to the sales page.

I try to set it all up so I am not so much selling anything but leading my prospect to see and understand the value of my product and having them just automatically purchase.

Once you got that and again I like to go for at least a 20% conversion rate there then you have to optimize for back end sales through your email follow up series. This alone will bring another good chunk of sales to you but it needs to be done. Some good EPC's

Like any good product once you build it you need to work out the bugs and glitches and your sales funnel is no different.

It is extremely important to do this today and not promote the direct affiliate links against 20,000 other affiliates.

Let me give you an idea here:

Thats why people don't make any money in this business. Your conversions are like a half a percent to 1 percent with a lot of traffic out there today when you have 20,000 other people promoting the same pages with the same traffic.

I know a lot of people have trouble getting 100 quality visitors alone let alone everybody is sending their traffic to the affiliates own capture page so now your trying to get a 100 leads just to make a low entry sale! People get burned out in no time with this approach.

BUT once you take the time to separate yourself that's how you can start to make a living off of this stuff.

    For me anyways

Thanks for that, that is exactly my thinking,

I'm thinking, if I were to go down this route, I really need some kind of expertise in my niche.

For a start you have to have the mindset that you just want to set thing moving and not to over think the process. I just started my blog not too long ago and I know how that can bee.I was lucky to start it off with a coaching program for a month and this is what the couch started.

Now with that said go to Youtube and pick a video that will show you how to create a WordPress site.

Write your first post, an "About you" post will be ok for a start.Just write about your struggles and achievement in relation to your niche.Just anything so that when you start sending visitors they will have something to read on your site/blog.

Pick an autoresponder of your choice.I just wrote a post on my blog comparing the different types of autoresponders that marketers use you can check it if you want.Set up a kind of free gift and you are good to go.

Now you have something to start building traffic to while learning and adjusting along the way. Forum posting and blog commenting is a good way to start pulling traffic to your new blog.

That is how to avoid the information overload and get things done. hope this was helpful.

When it comes to niche research you don't necessarily have to go with something as over saturated as IM. Are there any hobbies that you have? Are there any areas that interest you that you would like to get into? Blogging in your niche was brought up so I'll go with that... If there's a particular thing that interests you but you're not an expert in it but want to learn, that's the perfect scenario.

Blog about that hobby and why you're interested in it. Then continue blogging as you learn about it, tips, tricks, things you picked up along the way as you began said hobby. Odds are, if you're interested in the hobby, others will be too. They'll be interested to hear someone elses take on it. Remember, you don't have to be a king guru in a niche to get a following, you just need to know a little bit more than someone else to get their attention.

Use the google keyword planner and seo techniques found in the sub forums here to get your blog SEO'd. But don't rely on traffic solely from free methods. Once you have a good looking blog setup and some quality content packed posts about your journey into whatever the hobby is, run FB ads. Just a few bucks a day budget and be sure to target your exact demo/audience.

Have the ads pointing to a post that's giving something away. A small report or video like "10 tips I picked up from learning xx" or "The bets ways I found to go about xx" that kind of thing. Build your list from there and you're on your way.

Regarding your blog, get a good looking header or logo made. I actually got one for my blog from fiverr lol. DO NOT stuff your blog full of ads or affiliate banners. No offers yet. You want to keep your blog clean until you have a decent audience. Market your own guides/videos or affiliate products via that email list you're building. Also don't spam them offers everyday. Especially at first. Keep a good mix of free (quality) content in there. I send snippets from my blog posts.

Looks like you are looking for a mentor. I made money after joining Wealthy Affiliate. The owners, Kyle and Carson always answer private messages and participate in live chat. Yes, there is live chat available there instead of just forum so you can get answers in a few minutes. You can try it for free here wealthyaffiliate.com. In 7 days, you decide whether you like their coaching and support or not. If you like it, you can upgrade to $19 in the first month and then $47 per month afterwards. However, if you are serious in aff marketing, I highly recommend that you stay with Wealthy Aff for one year. Pay $19 in the first month and then if you decide to stay longer, pay $359 for one year. Don't expect to make profit in one month or two. Aff marketing road takes lots of time and hard work to make it profitable.

Iam not saying that Wealthy Affiliate is a scam but in my opinion you do not need to do it.

There are plenty of ways to continue to grow and attain the necessary education for IM without paying this.

Personally, I did it right here. If you are diligent you can do the same

My recommendation is not biased on WA. I am no longer a fan of WA and to be honest I think WA Bootcamp could trap newbies into promoting back the WA membership itself which is actually very hard to do. I also think that WA is not suitable for people who already make money from their websites, people who want quick money and people who don't want to build authority sites. Yes, I agree that I learn a lot for free here at WF but still for beginners, it could be confusing to find the right direction. Newbies could waste lots of time searching for relevant threads to them to read here at WF since lots of Warriors actually discussing advanced topics like JVs, product creation, solo ads, selling physical products etc rather than newbie like topics such as niche research, keyword research, Wordpress. Also since the asker is looking for mentor, I couldn't find anywhere that could provide beginner friendly, live chat support plus with reasonable price, other than Wealthy Affiliate. Some marketers do provide coaching via skype but usually they will charge more than $400 for this. Plus, as I suggested, he can try for free. If the think the support is helpful, he can keep staying. Otherwise, cancel.

            Thanks for that.
Your right there is some great info on WF, have already gotten some great ideas from the replies to my post, which I am completely grateful for.
The only trouble is, I do not have that much time to go through and distill the knowledge from the WF and I do know from personal experience that I learn better by being taught and held accountable, rather than left to my own devices when I could end up slacking

Can I ask did you learn from one trainer/guru or did you have to figure things out for yourself and how long did it take for you to get up and running
No problem! And sure, I learned the hard way lol. It honestly took me 2 years of trial and error. Mostly because I got into the vicious cycle of method jumping (shiny new thing syndrome). I finally made my first money online after coming across a no bs training for email marketing. I can't remember it's name atm, it was a couple of years ago.

Using that training I stopped method jumping and focused hard on lead gen and list building. If you're interested in whether or not coaching is for you, I just joined a high end coaching program a few weeks ago and I've got a case study going over on my blog.

BTW, if you decide to join Wealthy Affiliate, don't jump into make money online or internet marketing niche. And don't fall for the WA Bootcamp where the owners encourage you to promote back Wealthy Aff membership itself. I already tried promoting Wealthy Affiliate back and it's hard as hell to make sale from it.

One more thing, if you haven't register a domain name and decide to register, go for expired domain names. https://www.expireddomains.net. Enter the phrase related to your niche in the search box. Don't create a new domain name today. I found that expired domains will be ranked on Google and get traffic much much faster than newly created domain.

    Hi Newbie70,

Nice to meet you. So, from what I gathered from your original post, you want a product that will teach you step-by-step (hand holding). I might be able to suggest a few products/trainings I've used. What specific skill/task do you need to be "hand held" on?

      Hi Dustin,

After writing my original post, I have gotten some great ideas and more clarity on what I want to do and which direction, to go.

I have a couple of options:

1- Create a site, based around a niche I am familar with and have a relative bit of expertise in, building a list from it, from which I could promote, stand alone or coaching products, or affiliate products.

2- Help a friend of mine with his Mixed Martial Arts business, creating an online presence and product promotion

3- Create a blog type of site revolving around a hobby, like Ryan Deiss' survival website

However the biggest challenge for me is, I know I can't do them all, I don't have all of the knowledge and know how in place, plus the time factor, given the fact I have a full time job and a young family.

Don't let yourself get overloaded...there is enough information on making money online that it take many lifetimes to read it all.

I suggest starting with a pre-existing platform such as Fiverr and make a few hundred bucks, then take that money and invest in creating a sales funnel for a product off of ClickBank to get your feet wet.

Fiverr is straight forward and completely newbie friendly, your goal on there is to write up compelling sales copy and offer bonuses to get people taking your service over your competitors. Also, you want to make sure to use proper tags and categories to make sure your easily findable. You can write articles, do reviews, read Kindle Unlimited books and do promotional videos on here easily. These areas don't tend to get over-saturated.

Once you start to understand the basics of online business and marketing in general, things will get clearer for you. ClickBank is a good next step for learning more advanced aspects of internet marketing without having to own your own product.

Sounds like information overload has occurred. I almost never advise this, but it seems like you have no idea of what to do next. My answer to you is to join a program like Big Idea Mastermind, Empower Network. Since they give you a site and typically marketing materials to work with right away and help you get sales... or heck, even sell on ebay. No shame in that. Ebay's money is real bank account money.

Right now i honestly don't advise that you do the product creation route since it seems like you are not at the stage where you should be going at it alone. Consider hiring a marketing consultant too.

Once you learn the process of getting sales... it'll be easy for you.

    Thanks

Go through each step 1 by 1.

Pick your niche, then create your squeeze page, create your free giveaway report, start driving traffic to your squeeze page, then start emailing your list.

Then once you get the ball rolling you can focus on email marketing, and traffic. Then eventually you will get to the point where you will want to create your own products and services.

What would you say is the best way of choosing a niche and how to find out if it is one that's going to be profitable?

there are a few niches that are great for making money...

    1. Home Business Industry/Internet Marketing
    2. Health & Fitness
    3. Dating & Relationships
    4. Personal Development

Picking a niche that can resonate for you is really important.

If you have an interest or passion for one of the above would be a great advantage for you.

When you start out you do hit overwhelm.

There is so much information flying at you from so many different angles. It's hard to choose just one. It's easy to go after the shiney objects as well. That is called the shiny object syndrome. At some point or another we have all been part of that..

The first step... The thing is getting clear on your niche
The second step... what problem does your niche want solved?
The third step... how can you solve your niche's problem?

You can partner with a company that does that as there are many companies that you can partner with to do that... you just have to establish first what your niche will be.

If you want to bounce any ideas off me I am happy to help.

    Just send me a message.

I would suggest that you focus on building your own in house a list by promoting a affiliate product or other opportunities, that way you can learn and once you have a list then you can move into making your own products.

Should start.... Picking a niche of your passion and start building a list creating a simple funnel around your niche offering /giving away value to the community and re-marketing to the list with products of more value ...Is the basic layout to start with

However you choose to blog or market using YouTube videos, stay away from using network marketing brand names. I just got busted by one company and almost got sued. I had to pull all my marketing sites and videos to avoid serious legal trouble.
