I didn't really like this site. You are charged monthly fees for posting which ridiculous, I can post as much as i want on more popular sites for no fees / one time fee.

Well, its messaging system sucks. Also the bidding screen is blotted with lots of crap. They need to make it clean as FreeLancer.com or at least Elance.com

I am hunting for alternative myself, been relaying on elance, odesk and partially freelancer for a while, but once elance and odesk merged, it became a nightmare, i also believe for some reason it affected the workers on that site.

Yet, I do find warriors for hire is another good option as well for some of the services ( SEO mostly )

Exactly. I used odesk for programming work and Elance for everything related to writing and marketing. Worked flawlessly for years. But this merger to Upwork really fudged everything up. Luckily, I've worked with the same few the last 18 months or so.

I don't use warriors for hire since I got ripped off for about $550 there a couple years ago. I suspect a "respected" warrior sold their account to fraud/thief.

Generally use fiverr for logos and banners.
Elance to find writers/marketers (seems more upscale)
Odesk to find programmers/hourly jobs. (best time-management software for hourly jobs I've seen).

Will probably stick to that until a better alternative pops up or Upwork gets unbearable.

      Well, lots of resources available.

Should try on freelance sites and also google search for the companies working on the desired domain. Perhaps they can lend you some of their resources for a fee.

I think, virtual world is full of resources, you need to keep an eye on the job sites.

      My 2 cents

I usually go to Upwork (formerly Odesk.) Just be careful to read the turn around times and customer reviews. I usually read the negative (if any) reviews first since positive reviews can't always be trusted.

I always choose 3-4 potential people and Skype interview them with basic questions to make sure that they can perform the job that I need in the time that I need it.

Just be careful if someone sounds iffy. I once met a seemingly nice woman who could write some killer copy (a take away that I got from her own ad). During our Skye interview she sounded detached and not very confident in her work, I had some doubts about her at that point... Against my better judgement I hired her.

The situation turned bad. I gave her a full month to complete my copy (short form) that shouldn't have taken half that time. But, I was in no rush as I was still building out my funnel. I stayed in contact with her checking in every few days. Her work log showed her "working", but then excuses began. Conflicting sob stories about how she has no time.

Now I understand that everyone has problems but her communications were getting fewer and farther between. And her reasons were conflicting and sounding more and more like lies. In the end she delivered my copy two weeks late. During those "extra" two weeks she came across as rude and annoyed that I was asking for the delivery. The copy itself was weak and sounded like a 12 year old wrote it during their recess period. And she had the nerve to ask for a tip!!

So just be careful who you choose to employ.

You can check the Hire section of the community. Beside this you can see the Upwork, Freelancer, fiverr also if you want. Here I would like to say, it is not important which site you are going to use, but it is too much important which freelancer you are going to hire. Is the freelancer good? skilled? expert? positive feedback? did you see his previous work history? Thanks a lot.

You could always post a "work from home opportunity" job listing. You can do this on Craigslist easily. Get candidates to submit an inquiry, contact them, and let them know what you want them to do.

Surely enough though, it needs to be a real and legit WORK FROM HOME opportunity. Make sure they're doing what you tell them to do, and hold them accountable. Have them submit proof that they completed tasks for the day, and as any good boss would.... reward them for their hard work.

Elance to me seems to be gone to the pits, every job posted gets about 20 spam replys that totally ignore the brief.

You can get around this by putting a specific instruction near the end of the posting - something like "Please start your proposal with the exact phrase "I've read the whole proposal!""

And then just delete any proposals that don't include the exact phrase.

If a freelancer isn't willing to spend 2-3 minutes reading your proposal, you don't want to work with them anyway.

Actually there are a lot of sites -- you can even hire people from the "Warriors For Hire" section.
But to add more options for you to check, you can also try Upwork (formerly Odesk), Toptal, Guru and Freelancer.com

By the way, I found a list of Upwork alternatives, you can check those sites and evaluate them yourself.

I personally always start on Craigslist just because I'd rather hire someone local and keep my cash within my community. If I strike out there, then I'll usually try a local newspaper classified and eventually Elance (which is transferring to Upwork). If that fails, I'll go to one of the specialty sites like JournalismJobs.com or Creative Circle.

The only other advice I can give is to never settle....if you don't find the perfect candidate, then don't hire anyone at all. Just keep looking.
