Men's dating advice niche - not profitable ? Or misinformed ?

Hello ,
Im interested in your opinions on the men's dating advice niche, now I have found a sub niche within in I want to focus on .

I do have a passion on this topic and don't mind spending my time writing the best content I can .

I have been currently writing my content site as well as researching the market .

What I find is that a lot of sources say that even the leaders in the " men's dating advice " market ,
are barely making any profit selling info products and are hardly getting by .

It's discouraging hearing this over and over , so I would like several more opinions .

My initial target would be selling information products . ( e books )

So my question is for anybody who knows about this niche or has experience in it .
Is this niche still very profitable for info products with a good USP or am I being misinformed ?
Thanks in advance
- Chris j

From my own experience and exposure to the market, there isn't a lot of money in the information products. The successful ones in this industry are those who use their info-product funnels as self-liquidating channels to upsell their higher end coaching programs and live events.

If you're shy and are looking to build a passive income info-product business, I would recommend to stay away. If you're passionate about it and are looking to expand and grow within that sphere, it's a great place to be in. Just don't expect to strike it rich selling $47 in a crowded market.

I was co-owner of a dating advice site; it never did much, we sold it for a small profit. I've done a lot of work writing content promoting dating eBooks as well; while I don't have the client's figures there, I am pretty sure he is more profitable as an eBook affiliate than we were with our independent site. He hasn't struck it rich either :/

You know, it is a very saturated market, but IMO a lot of the existing products out there don't actually *work* very well. If you had something that did, it might make a difference.

As Alexandre Valois stated (post 2). The big money and in most cases "the profit" is in the back-end/upsells. The seminars, the membership sites, coaching or other recurring income model.

Thinking you're going to make a killing selling ebooks alone ... in a hyper competitive market, where no one knows you is Disneyland thinking.

Now ebooks are pretty much used as lead generators to build list, build name recognition and used as funnel starters. The days of making big money or even a profit from an ebook alone is fading fast and even dead in some markets.

So, my advice is before you start your ebook venture have a upsell in place. Because most likely, that's where your profit is going to come from, not the ebook.

I think you should go into a different niche altogether. Maybe you should purchase one of the those "niche marketing" ebooks that goes into detail and recommends some small, profitable niches that you can go into.

It depends on the platform you use to address this niche.

I know for a fact that men's dating advice is huge on Kindle.

    It's also EVERGREEN.

I disagree with the advice here. I've heard over and over again that dating advice niche is HUGE and there are people making lots of money in it.

The thing is about opinions is, everybody has one. And who's to say which opinion is right or which is wrong.

Those that say no money can be made are looking in the wrong places.

As far as information marketing, that method is absolutely going crazy. Big. Huge. Of course, being in the right niche counts too.

Oh, and BTW, yes it's true, most big guru's make money on back-end sales. It's just part of the way to do it. You need back end sales with everything you do! Everything. No one gets rich selling $7.00 ebooks, but 200 people paying $47.00 per month is a good chunk of change.

i am not in this niche, but i know this niche is very popular now, especially as the called "pick up artist", as far as you do not link this niche = one night standard, but thinking about long term relation, then i believe it will be selling hot. for my advice you should going to relationship advice niche, not only you can serve both gender, also saving relationship is better for everything else.

For the men's dating/pickup artist niche, I think it's more selling seminars and couching rather than a "how to pick up women" ebook. This is a big market that is saturated and a lot of men have been scammed, so reputation is everything. They would rather go to a seminar or get coached by a pickup artist guru than read an ebook from some no name.

Still profitable !! As long as the World keeps producing males, it will be for in the foreseeable future

Although there is somewhat a stigma attached with part of the Industry centered around Products that help men "score" with women and get in the sack with them as much as possible.

Just kind of wreaks of smut and porn.

But hey if that is your thing go for it. NO law against it

As someone who has built a 7 figure business along with several 6 figure ones in the dating market and have participated in several niches under the dating market umbrella, let me give you my perspective.

Make no mistake, the dating market is huge. The dating-advice-for-men niche is also pretty big. And there are new prospective customers entering that market every single second of the day. Yes, it's far more competitive today than ever before. But here are a few things you need to understand.

Most of the people who enter the dating-advice-for-men niche don't treat it like a real business (that's true of most people by the way in any niche), so they're doomed to fail right out of the gate. People say the "dating advice" market is a "dying" market or it's "too saturated". People have been saying that about weight loss, fitness, and the personal development markets as well as many of the niches under those markets for as long as I can remember. Just because a market or a niche is very competitive doesn't necessarily mean it's saturated.

Guess what? There are new millionaires being made in every single one of these "saturated" and "competitive" markets on a weekly basis. The REAL question is, what are THOSE people doing differently than the rest?

The first thing they do is they make sure they have the right mindset when tackling the business. This is well over 90% of the battle because without the right mindset, you're not going to do the things necessary to succeed. Many people ignore this and then they wonder why they're not making progress.

The successful marketers don't treat it like a hobby and they don't set aside 10 hours a week to do it. They set aside whatever time it takes to get things done. They don't make excuses and they aren't quick to blame things outside of themselves. They do the market research necessary in order to find out what the winners in the market are doing and in what areas they can deliver better solutions. In my case, my very first website the dating advice niche lost money for over 2 months. I spent thousands of dollars of pay per click keywords to find out which keywords were making money and which ones were losers. I wouldn't take that approach today but back then, it made sense when Adwords and other PPC platforms were different than they are today.

Yes, there are a lot of dating / coaching companies who have gone out of business. Yes, there are dating advice gurus who are barely breaking even, but you know what? There are still plenty of people crushing it in the dating advice niche, whether it be for women or men or both because they know how to set up joint ventures, they know how to build a list, and they have an effective product / service strategy and they run a data-driven business.

This niche is not for the faint of heart. There have been plenty of Warriors who have tried it and have failed. It's easy to get into but it's very difficult to succeed in it for some of the reasons I have already outlined.

First of all, you need to understand the distribution channels. If you cannot get targeted traffic to your offer, you're not going to be able to test out and tweak your conversions. Whether it's SEO, social media, free publicity, or paid traffic, you need to find ways to get it.

Secondly, you aren't going to make money selling one ebook. You need a comprehensive product / service strategy. This will depend on your business model of course. Some companies choose to sell information products and those information products funnel people to membership websites, coaching programs, webinars, etc. There is something that I do that is really simple, but I see hardly anyone do it. I have sent you this one thing via separate PM.

I'm not going to mention the things that I do to make it work in this niche in a public forum, but having a product strategy is critical to making it work. Think of having a lead product that is going to funnel people to other products and services. Understand what a compelling offer is and what positioning is and you'll be head and shoulders above many others who try and make a go at it.

    Good luck to you,

    RoD

    Hi,
I think this niche is not profitable I have dating website and I receive around 100 real visits everyday. I have installed a woocommerce shop from where i sell Ebooks and MP3 audio reports. I also sell Books on Amazon.
Compared to other niche, the conversion rate is REALLY low and I am really surprised about it. It means that even if I have added lots of links to Amazon or my Woocommerce I get one sale every 2 months. Also, I found my links online and I get good feedback on Facebook.
I have heard that the successfuly dating coachs made money out of seminars and used their websites and book as a hook to get back new seminar members. The seminars are expensive and that's how they make money. In my books I exactly answer the google keywords people use to find my pages.

Compared to other niches, I think this niche isn't profitable. It means you are going to spend a lot of energy for few bucks.

I think the key to this niche is being as unconventional as possible in order to attract readers. The problem is you might have to be unconventional to the point of offending some people. Is this something you're prepared to take on. Controversy is what helps a lot in this niche, although this is just my opinion. The dating niche for guys has changed a lot due to technology and all this has to be taken into mind.

I just wanted to say, I am experienced about this subject because i have a website about dating.
Compared to other niches, it does not convert. It is like the people visiting my website don't want to buy anything.
For example, I wrote an article about dating women in Latin America. Below the articles there is a link to a guide that I sell about Dating in Latin America.
It is like a $4 book and there is also the option to buy on Amazon.
While i get 20 visitors coming from Google search on a daily basis reading this article no-one buys the the Ebooks, the audio reports or the Kindle Ebooks about this subject.
To me the dating niche is not profitable.

I think online dating is a really nice opportunity these days. I personally like this niche a lot, I have to say. There are some really cool dating services like Secret Benefits, for example, which are really popular and nice. I would recommend you to try it out

I think this is one of the most attractive niches. Accidental pun.

But unless you have specialist knowledge that you can give that is experienced as truly vaulable and helpful, you don't stand a chance. On the other hand, if you do have THAT RARE HELPFUL ADVICE that nobody else has (or very few people have), and if you can DEMONSTRATE THAT IT WORKS to the people that want it - you will make good money.

Problem is we all think we're experts because we can write a blog - BUT do you actulally have tried and tested, proven, advice that sets you apart from everyone else, and can you put that in front of your niche's eyes.

    Tom
