  • You should download and install the the Wordpress.org version of Wordpress on your own server or hosting account. It will give you the most flexibility and control.

I have some tactics that normally get mine indexed within a day or so...

    • I am a WordPress.org user, being able to self host your own blog is really worth it, because you can add what ever you want on it.
And you can change anything at any point, without having any worry if your gonna get slapped for the content.

  • I had to reread your post because it troubled me deeply because I would not want to see anyone go through what I did.

You want to develop organic traffic, sell affiliate links and have an opt in form.

A private hosting account can be had for about 100 bucks or less a year. As one other poster said fantastico install WP quite nicely on your domain.

Most accounts will allow you to have multiple domains. Mine allows 20 and each domain is about 10 bucks. I know you can find em' cheaper.

In all honesty what I have mentioned is dirt cheap for trying to make any money online and it gives you a little more control than putting it on a free host or free blog. A very costly mistake and something I have been dealing with on a few free accounts. Many of the free sites do not like affiliate links and even if they allow them now once they get popular they often make further restrictions and this is what cost me.

Yeah yeah what ever even a paid host can shut your account down but it is much much less likely to happen.
  • WordPress.org (self hosted) is definitely my pick for my primary blog - i.e. the one I focus on most.

The question of being shut down for TOS violation (happpened to me with WordPress.com) and not having control of your content is a big one.

But Blogger and WordPress.com do have their benefits. This article compares Blogger, WordPress.org and WordPress.com:

    Hope it helps,

  • If you're new to blogs, Blogger is very much easier to use from scratch. The problem with WP for me, is exactly it's "virtues" - thousands of themes, hundreds of plug-ins, none of them doing exactly what I want...

But, I will say this - get ONE step-by-step tutorial on setting up WP and use that until you know that tutorial thoroughly. Don't get several WP tutorials. It's very easy to info overload yourself with WP, and then waste hours trying to figure out how to do what you want to do, because you're still missing a key piece of information.

    It's a BIG learning curve.

If you want to get some sites up quickly, use Blogger while you're working your way through your WP tutorial, to build a more permanent site.

    Elliott
